It was unfortunate cuz I really wanted to see Tomahawk, but got to feeling so bad for Patton that I went and got a drink.

Danny Carey is a phenom, but I would be hard pressed to say he drums circles around anyone in The Mars Volta. All three drummers that TMV have had are far more technically proficient than Carey. Jon Theodore works a hihat better than anyone alive, Thomas Pridgen has better jazz sensibilities and timing than anyone I've heard, and Dave Elitch blends metal aggression with tight grooves better than most. Danny Carey might be more experienced & solid, but he can't compete with creativeness & style

That's why I love Mike Patton - it was in a place called Bossier City, Louisianna. They walked out on stage and he said, "What's up, BOZO CITY?!? LOUSY-ANNA?!?!" I died laughing. He went right for the boo, he loved that shit. And they were awesome. Later, he played with TOOL to huge applause when ppl realized it was him.

Danny Carey is a phenom, but I would be hard pressed to say he drums circles around anyone in The Mars Volta. All three drummers that TMV have had are far more technically proficient than Carey. Jon Theodore works a hihat better than anyone alive, Thomas Pridgen has better jazz sensibilities and timing than anyone I've heard, and Dave Elitch blends metal aggression with tight grooves better than most. Danny Carey might be more experienced & solid, but he can't compete with creativeness & style
