  • Eddie is using a little guitar

  • even as distorted and out of key this shit is, it sounds leagues better than that new album were about to forced fed on feb 7th.

  • @mireaux7 It's retarded to judge the album before you hear it, and nobody is forcing you to buy it anyway.

  • @UltimateWheelman but i have heard music off the new album..a little song about a short filipino guy that resides on Fantasy Island.

  • looks like a lot of bands had a hard time pulling it off live.// wasn't all their fault the sounds and mixing live somebody didn't know either how to pull it off.

  • I've got my David Lee Roth pants on today!

  • 3:48 - Alex is smoking! literally!!!! look at his shoulders!!

  • 3:43!!! did i hear a little bit of Hot For Teacher??? ;)

  • only time i saw these guys was Diver Down tour in October of 1982. ;) it was loud!! was really late when i got home. i overslept the next morning and was late for work!! but, i had fun!!

  • eddie modifies a Marshall amp...don't try that at home

  • listened to this one for an hour the first time i heard it...happy, celebratory genius piece.yep most underrated...i agree....i know big van halen fans that do not recall this one...

  • WHO THE HELL HIT DISLIKE..YOU F-ING TARDS, GO DIE!!!!..

  • I love how he uses the little guitar for this song

  • pee wee guitars are badass!!

  • Typical Van Halen...all business in the studio and all fun on the road. Who wants to go to a show and hear a song exactly as it was released? I love the variation when they're live.

  • The greatest show money could buy in the late 70's early 80's man...this shit was magical...there were no videos even magazines werent covering these guys early on but their name and music spread like wildfire and being a guitar player my buddy brought this cassette out at a keg party and said you gotta hear this their called Van Halen and then like any epic moment in history Eruption played It was right up there with walking on the moon you'll never forget where you were when you first heard it

  • Alex is such a bad ass back they killin!

  • Love the last 60 seconds of this. Even though Eddie may not be perfect on all of his notes, it really was the best rock 'n' roll ever.

  • Mr Roth better thank his lucky stars that he met the Van Halen boys. He is TERRIBLE. I have to agree with many comments on here. Terrible version of a great song. As a long time VH fan, I was lucky enough to see them right after they put out 1984. Was at Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum (Nice Arena that Katrina blew away!) It was Jan 26, 1985, Eddies 30th birthday, all the wives were there, they played 4 short sets. UNBELIEVABLE SHOW and did they ever PARTY!! Think it was snowing in there!

  • never look for rock n roll live that isnt sloppy...that is what its all about my friends...studio is studio..live well this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is he playing a Gibson's ukelele??? LOL

  • I swear this must have been early 80s Dallas TX. Cause I was there. Dave was drunk as shit.

  • @boysen1967 even though he says 'california' and its the US fest.....in california?!

  • @woodros yeah lol the US Festival took place in late late 83 in Cali (or one of them anyway) which is when this was shot. this was from Heavy Metal Sunday. whats funny is i asked my dad if he remembered when this happened and i called it the U.S. festival as in the united states lmao he corrected me and told me that it was "US" as in the word us haha

  • Wow, this version is absolutely terrible! For the amount of money people had to pay for their tickets, I would have demanded a mother-freaking refund. I could get up there and a much better job than he's doing in the video. Damn, it's a joke to say the least!

  • WTF!?!!? And they went back to this joke of a singer? This was Roth in his prime, even!

I'll admit that Van Halen was more party with Roth, but the music was far, far better with Sammy.

  • they still kicked ass

  • brilliant

  • Unimpressive. Roth is only decent (not great, decent) in the studio. I saw them many times before the Hargar years, and it was the same everytime. Roth drunk, can't sing, forgets half the lyrics and jumps around like we paid to see a gymnastic demo. The other three jammed their asses off. Once they got rid of DLR, then they were a complete band. Watch the clip of performing Jump with a folk group. It is almost unwatchable. Van Halen needs new blood, and not Wolfie!

  • Yes they were that bad. They were way late, drunk, and it took forever to get a complete song out of them. Roth was screaming and threatening the sounds guys during some acoustic thing he was trying to do. They were really shown up by the Scorpians who came on before them. We were walking out to the car before they were done with their set. (we were STILL trying to get out of the parking lot at dawn.) Looking back, I wish we had stayed for Monday too. (And, that I had brought a camera.)

  • Eddie totally does the Goose Step at 3:20.

  • i saw them in Philadelphia in 1983.

  • that was the end of the great Van Halen. i was there too. nothin like showing up 2 hrs late. David lee roth was that bad. to bad...

  • I was there too, and seen them Fair Warning tour in 81' They went from my favorite band to my most despised band in just under 3 hours!

  • @psyleo7 Dude, you wanna expand on that? I just wanted to know what made you despise them...the show, the venue, or something else entirely?

  • @psyleo7 Were they that bad?

  • @Hats1976 The music was spot on. David Lee Roth ruined the music by being too drunk to remember the songs. If someone gets paid that much money to entertain, they should leave the drinking to the fans! At least until the encore.....

  • best day of my life.

  • Dave just sucks live

  • even though, this isn't the greatest version. this still remains 1 of my all time favourites of Van Halen. That's a Les Paul Mini he's playing.

  • Lmfaoo, i geeet it, hes playing a little guitar for this song

  • God I love this song. How great is Eddie on guitar?

  • @Hats1976 I would say he Is the most creative player on the planet for rock, jimmy page is creative but eddie is the KING and will always be the best player ever!

  • I love this song, but... Eddie looks like he's playing a ukalele.

  • @VanHalenRocks100 It's a litttle guitar

  • @JohnWilkesBooth70 I know I'm just saying.

  • I love playin this on the drums, just love the groove of the intro so much

  • US FESTIVAL!!! totally rocked!!!! So glad I can say I was there!

  • i just laughed coz of the guitars tiny buts its a great song evh forever

  • I was there 28 years ago, HEAVY METAL SUNDAY!!!

  • Half scale Gibson given to him as a gift I think I read many years ago. Saw VH many times and always got my money's worth. You just didn't want to leave.

  • stupid guitar, best song

  • That's the coolest ukulele I've ever heard.

  • Life was a party back then. Im 42 years old and it sucks now.

  • @ExtremePeppers aint it the truth- didnt know how good i had it

  • @bicklesby1 Hell, Im still a 16 year old kid. No wife,No kids,No Problem.

  • @ExtremePeppers amen brother...I'm 40...I come to youtube to relive my youth...smile for a bit, then turn it off and cry and go back to my real life lol

  • @ExtremePeppers Party on dude! I'm a modern day hippie.....Jeebus Christ!

  • bad ass song

  • by far my favorite rock band - there was no bullshit with these guys - what u see is what u got!

  • New Van Halen album is very close now! It's gonna be another Summer of Van Halen!!!!

  • @LightUptheSky000 Are you kidding? They havent put a good album since Hagar!

  • @drinkspecials They haven't put out any albums since Sam, good or otherwise. What would I be kidding about?

  • is the guitar shrinking or is Eddie getting larger?

  • @drinkspecials yeah started listening to VH about a year ago and i mean really getting into them...Eddie Van Halen is my number one favorite guitarist of all time and my number one influence in the music department as well. And since then ive gained such a higher level of understanding because i started playing guitar too. First riff i learned was the intro to Ain't 'talkin 'bout love in my first week lol forget smoke on the water i went straight to van halen.

  • @BrettACDC Your Dad And Me Are Cool (And Old)

  • @leeri001 he says they were really drunk to

  • @BrettACDC David Lee Roth Was Really Drunk - He Forgot The The Works To The Song Jamies Cryin - He Was Being A Real Jerk To The Audience Too - Eddie Was In Top Form As Usual - All In All It Was The Beat Day Of Rock & Roll Ever - The Best Vacation Ever - And The Best Day Of My Life (So Far)

  • nice Dave-like screetch from Mike at 3:20 haha

  • lil 59er Les Paul.

  • olollool

  • is this song a rip on ac dc?

  • @Clepto202 are you fucking retarded

  • @Clepto202 How could be? I'm HUGE AC/DC fan, but they don't have any song witch would be similar to this. So what song you mean?

  • Chills up my back.

  • because they have a little guitar, i keep thinking EVH is a midget from the distance shots XD

  • what if alex had little drums

  • @bigtarget9 then dave would be inhaleing helium and it would be called mini halen.

  • I thought it was etch a sketch. It's actually catch as catch

  • @lg678

    HILARIOUS!!!!

    high five!!!!

  • two people only like bigass guitars

  • Wireless mics and guitar systems were invented for Dave and Ed, no doubt about it!!!

  • Better music through chemistry. The band just played on.Whatever Dave sang.

  • Best rock band of our time....PERIOD

  • wow a song about etch a sketch

  • @hagtar12 Its only right, Etch a sketch was an amazing drawing aid, apart from curves and diagonal lines,It was pretty crap really, ruined my Christmas in 1975 and ive never been ok since.

  • Eddie Van Halen: True master of the instument.

  • what other profession can you show up f'd up and get a million dollars? (VHs paycheck 4 that show)

  • I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE PLAY THIS ON A SMALL GUITAR...GIVE ME A BREAK..he rules

  • wonder why he didnt bring out the mini during the last tour?

  • A little guitar that sounds like a fucking freight train hitting Mt. Everest.

  • @DarthKazi so true

  • can't wait 4 the new album been a long time

  • This is why You Tube is so useful.

For me seeing those clips....Thanks also to 5150fan316 for the upload as well..

  • i was there...that night.....and david lee roth.....was in ..."his own world".......sad to say.......the band tryed to follow him.....but, people thought the dude was sooo drunk....and screwed up the biggest night of their band".......they were the last act....and sadly....people were leaving.....prior to the last song.....truth be told.

  • @davidsocal77 I was there too brother! you are correct, Dave was at his drunkest

  • Jesus.... Van Halen, Motley Crue, Ozzy, and Judas Priest all in the same show back in '83. That is what I call one sick ass lineup.

  • When Van Halen Rock-n-Roll ruled the world. Damn I miss those days.

  • I love youtube. Where else can you see this stuff?

  • little guitar and little bass!!! I love it!

  • hahahaha, LITTLE guitar(s)xD

  • THE GREATEST ROCK BAND IN THE UNIVERSE!

  • come on people lets get some more thumbs up for this video van halen 1 rock band in the world

  • eddie is SO FUCKEN amazing that ..fuck what can you say, really?

  • love the song!!! awesome show!!!

  • I was there, and I remember Dave being so F'd up that Ed was covering his vocals for him. Dave took a piss off the side of the stage that night too. I can't believe this was 27 years ago; I was just a kid, but what a show; I still remember it well.

  • Don't Hate! Yeah, Maybe Not the Tightest Performance for Van Halen,

But Anyone Who's Old Enough to Remember Heavy Metal Day at the US Festival, is that It was A LONG Day, and Van Halen were the Headliners and They Spent the Entire Day Getting "Ripped"(Drinkin,Snortin' Smokin')!

So By the Time All the Bands Had Played, and it was time for VH to Hit the Stage, Its Amazing they Could Even Stand Up Straight, Much Less Play Thier Insturments & Sing!

  • @hyena667 I remember that day well :P I was surprised they were conscious at all :P

  • lol now thats hillarius little guitars

  • hey i was a fan of van halen back in the day,but this sounds like shit

  • 1:54 does alex miss a cymbal crash!? lmao what's he aiming for there?

  • @create42000 he goes for the tom

  • @create42000 LOL!

  • they're just fukin great!

  • should read "little shit guitars"

  • lol haha yer

  • eddie's power slide......amazing shit....on fire

  • I was trippin' like a big dog, I was lucky to even be there but at least I felt a little of whar woodstock must've been like!!

  • stratocat6 , That makes two of us. But I had gone to the Cal Jam 1 in 1974 and the feel was very much the same feeling when ELP took the stage !!! Van Halen did kick ass that night and it was so much fun.

  • i want that les paul hahaha

  • i got one bitches hahaha!!!!! check out the vid. its not as cool though hehehe but it serves its purpose, to play this song

  • I want that guitar

  • I still have yet to see this done right live here on you tube.

It is one of their more musical songs and they can't do it live.

  • They spent the whole million on the backstage party, so the legend goes...

  • I was not at this concert. I was at home playing Intellevision baseball, then watched A-Team later that night on television. Eddie called me after the concert and asked why I didn't show up. I told Van Halen to stop calling me. Very annoying.

  • 0:20 to 0:25

awesome see Eddie and Michael rockin' out together, they should be at the real ORIGINAL formation nowadays, Wolfgang is not the same of the classic Mad Michael Anthony

  • I LISTEND ON MY RADIO/ TAPED THE WHOLE SHOW BUT here it isssssssssss!

  • I Was There !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If I played this song to a girl who has never heard this kind of music, what would she think?

  • hey were paid over $1,000,000 for this?

  • ummmm and earned every penny!

  • Stupid...dang it!!!

  • god eddie haulls ass at 3:10

  • I have to differ and put "Hang 'Em High" as the best track, but Little Guitars runs a CLOSE second. By far, my favorite VH album.....

  • I was at this show!!!

  • cool, wish i was there, but i wasnt born yet

  • Me Too !!!!!!!

  • Mike with the little bass AWESOME CLASSIC!!!

  • Diver Down may have "Oh,Pretty Woman"

and "Dancin In The Street", but, "Little Guitars" is the best track on the album. I don't know why the album was filled with cover versions.

  • Eddie said they did not have a lot of time to put down new tracks becuase they were just comming off the Fair Warning tour. They had been wanting these covers for a while nad it just all fit.

  • While their tour was huge, Fair Warning didn't do well commercially and the band was pressured into a quick follow up by Warner Bros., they wanted singles. The covers were suggested by A&R with Ted Templeman and DLR pushing. While he has said he didn't like the album, Edward's playing was brilliant.

  • Haha awesome!!!

Little guitars played on a little guitar.

  • This isn't your video.

  • is mike's guitar small to? i cant tell?

  • I always loved those little guitars like he's playing and I love the song.

  • little my ass
