'all the children are insane'; aren't they? now? grabbed off you at age 5 by the state and pounded 8 hours a day for 13 years(!!!) with scientifically engineered methods of creating generations split from each other, ready for war, ready for drugs and ready to never form a family. as the likes of Russell were hired to work out ways of programming our precious children.they're put powerful drugs too: amphetamines, Xanax, SSRI's...its not the parents that make them dead eyed and nihilistic adults
To those of you who dislike this song, you are either to young, or were nerds when it came out. You had to live in that time to fully understand what a fucked up world we lived in, and there was no escape, because the man told you what to do and when to do it. I for one will ever be thankful to Jim and groups like his who went against the so called status quo and did their own thing. Thanks Jim
@DooNisH I really thought he would say that to his sister,it was like "He went into the room where his sister lived and then he(I really thought he's gonna say he raped her in this part)................ paid his brother a visit"?
@fredszczepanski Undeveloped mental illness? Mental illness that hasn't presented itself yet? That's not really an argument against taking LSD though is it? More of a warning. It would be exciting to test, like mental bungee jumping without a parachute. Humans are risk takers. That's one of the ways they learn. I have to go........that sound.......the blue bus....
This was the first song I ever sang Karaoke to. I told the DJ to fade the song out about 7mins in...you know when he starts blowing peoples heads off. Yeah, he did not oblige...
hermano sai qe este tema culia te lleva asi como a la mea fase culia ase cambiar tu mente es una mierda inexpicable como la musica culia mesclada con la droga te ase volver tu pensamiento totalmente extraño csm no se mierda :s qe wea mas genial
sooooooooo love this song! close the curtains, light up the scented candles, sit on the floor crossed the legs, hands resting on knees palms up, close the eyes...and i m driving away with jim! the blue bus is calling us.........jim forever!
I think we discredit the genius of the men and of all our kind to say that beautiful music and poetry comes from alcohol and other drugs. These things only make us aware of something more, better, beautiful. You don't appreciate light until you've known the dark, and these drugs are just another way to explore the darkness of yourself. Drugs aren't bad, no, just unnecessary. No need to glorify it.
@grritsmine its the other way around: drugs are bad but sometimes necessary, they can harm u physically. However u have a point in something, not everyone that uses drugs becomes talented, no matter how much drugs u do u can't compose music like that if ur not already a talented genius.
@michaelba86 My friend, a drug is simply something which can increase and decrease your material vibrations. Music, words, thoughts and substances all procure emotional ups and downs. I begin to think that genius, the real thing, is the ability to attain a higher state of vibration naturally. Fame and renown are simply things attributed to those geniuses capable of communicating their state of being. The vast majority of geniuses are undiscovered and will remain so to all but themselves.
@Ducatisatva I couldn't agree more. Credit to the source goes unsaid. But would you compliment the rain for the beauty of a flower? I don't think it is needed. Recognition is more important then gratification.
Jim was totally stoned ...But as theolihot Explains "This song is a story, ...yes we do understabd better today! there were so much insecurities many tragidies young men and women went through ....in those hippie times they were haunted by the Vietnam war & all free sex & drugs....That it was so easy for such brilliant song writers & singers to get into drugs. it ended their life! Janis, Jimi, Jim & til today many more! Glad I was a kiddo at that time!
This song is a story, one of the oldest in humanity the Oedipus story. It says that one day you will replace your father and you will make children as your parents did. It is so well explained by Jim Morrison and The Doors that when it came out nobody understood it. Poor people of those times at least today we understand.
we understood one thing in those days: the music creates its own images, and you create what you want of it. Those same songs then, mean the same to me today. Excellent music! yeah.
@Curi0usOne not all music is bad, arctic monkeys for instance, amazing band and let you download there new albumn for free and if you like it you can buy it to support them..just saying :)
@nssurge Yes, I agree. Great experiments but not so great commercial models, in my very humble opinion. I know there are many other bands and artists trying to use the so called "free channels" (Magnatune or similar) but again, I don't know how muche money someone could do ... I have to go and make a research!
music isn't dead you just have to move on...open up your mind to newer different shit and expand your musical interests...there is a lot of good new music out there
Its funny that every time I hear this song; it reminds me of the long trail that life is and a reminder of the distance between born and the last heart beat. I wonder what form the blue bus will take for me. No one likes to think about death...but it comes...and it doesn't care if your ready or not. My greatest curiosity is whether I'll see it coming and face it with courage with a sense of hopefulness for the next world. I hope the Angel of Death looks like a young Debra Harry circa 1979.
best song ever made in the whole world id like this song played at my funeral and every one there would have to be forced to take acid too and be happy
@wetbedding ---i was thinking the exact thing--play this at my funeral and everyone who comes gets a joint n a beer when they walk thru the door and everyone just party and celebrate my life!!!
@wetbedding Afterall, our individual existence and tangible carnation is the axis of reality, drugs are simply a means of exploring alternated reality and by no means entirely responsible for art; considering that without our axis there is no art.
Great mix - but not the original (the original stereo version has Jim's "scatting" at the end all but drowned out. Only the mono mix has it up front.) So, may I ask where this mix came from?
im getting sick of people saying music today is shitty... wtf is wrong with you?! i mean love old music and this song is great, but there are a lot of artist today that create great music... you just need to search for it!
so please shut up saying things like that just ... it's just annoying!!
@MrDeterioration em... well man.. that's not true.. (sad lol) I tried to educate her but, I'm so sorry man she didn't listen to me. the only song she so like that she doesn't delete from her phone is ten years gone.. I feel so frustrated man
@Mattykrt2 You sound like a young guy. (I'm in my mid-50s. The first album I ever bought was The Doors in 1967 when I was 10.) Your frustration over this person will pass. Trust me. Just give it time. There will be plenty more frustration to deal with, though. Such is life.
@TheSouleater66 hey asshole the point is that this great song wouldn't be here if it wasn't for artists expanding their minds.......YOU TOTALLY MISSED THE POINT, besides your gross too
@TheSouleater66 part one of two: I however do know. It made life very miserable. but i doubt your father was addicted to lsd, as that is not something that is possible. I inherited alot of his addiction problems. I agree that drugs cause terrible things. alcohol especially. But lsd and marijuana do not make people hurt others. they do not even hurt you. Thats why i'd say psychedelics and marijuana are not drugs.
@TheSouleater66 part two of two: psychedelics are not something you cannot stop. and psychedelics, nobody needs those to get out of bed. not a mind expanding therapeutic tool. I know, because I have needed drugs and alcohol to get out of bed. but those drugs were not lsd. those drugs were drugs.
@fredszczepanski you don't think maybe its the confines of a uptight society that might have fucked people up who realised after expanding their minds that they were mental slaves before............ ; )
@fredszczepanski LSD is known to amplify mental illness that has, or hasnt presented itself yet, as was the case of Syd Barret, some people may be fine to use it others not. That being said its quite a risk as you wouldnt know if you suffer from undeveloped mental illness. Theres a cool National Geographic documentary on it.
@TheSouleater66 lmao well if i read ur comment you still have to grow up, so you dont either. but for your information, not that i give a flying fuck at all, my dad is in a care home for 12 years already cause he also loved to party, as Jim did, only he survived
@steve78NL Drugs aren't always bad but it ruined loads of lives, and there's loads of music which could have been made without it. Drugs don't make you a genius. Jim was smart as hell and it's a pitty he had to choose this way.
i've heard this tune so many times, but am always staggered at it's genius-esque assembly and arrangement of rhythm, harmony, lyrics and just 4 artists coming together in a musical fusion of brilliance that will last eternally and paint history in people's memory. When the sun eventually burns this little blue sphere to a cynder this song will be there to embrace it. Love it.
Precisely what the song is about is "get back to reality and end alien concepts" which to me means, end corruption that society has instilled in your brain, and be born again...free of "the father".
@antero077 I was just saying that because of all these comments. If you'll read them you'll see that something like 70% of the people don't understand the meaning of the lyrics. Which I think, is something to be ashamed of.
thats a very crazzy song i am still trying to understant it:P

Today's mainstream music is made with two things in mind: low cost and the profit.
I remember there were composers, musicians, singers experimenting new ways, new sounds, exploring paths known by few adepts and making good music too.
And piracy was there also back in the 80s and in the 70s!

@thedarkesthole
psychedelics do destroy your mind , some in one shot, others over time, still others no problem. Syd Barret comes to mind as proof.

@fredszczepanski you don't think maybe its the confines of a uptight society that might have fucked people up who realised after expanding their minds that they were mental slaves before............ ; )

@fredszczepanski It is true, but thats if you build up a tolerance to it, alot of the most brillant peopl have taken acid before

@TheSouleater66 lmao well if i read ur comment you still have to grow up, so you dont either. but for your information, not that i give a flying fuck at all, my dad is in a care home for 12 years already cause he also loved to party, as Jim did, only he survived

yeah baby!
