So this explains why six souls came out of the machine when 9 took the tailsmen off of it rather than five. Not only did the Fab take the stitchpunks' souls, but Elijah's as well!

(A) Help the viewer relate as to how scary it would be for a human's soul to be stolen in the same fashion as those poor stitchpunks.

(B)Cause the viewer to wonder about the possibility of the Fabricator being able to take, not just stichpunk souls, but HUMAN souls as well.
