  • Great video. I was trying to figure out how to teach the wife this really makes a point.

  • The information here is not entirely accurate. I attempted to post a video response, but it was not working. When someone says use one technique to the exclusion of all others, it's wrong 99.9% of the time. Yes, it is about technique. But, I have seen more buff men struggle with both techniques and flagging people around them with both technique. If you want to see what I mean, check out the video in my channel.

  • @cgeidff You are welcome to your opinion.

  • I found this video very helpful! Thanks!

  • Thanks so much for this video! I'm new to handguns--4 months. Even though I've taken a few classes, this is the first time I really got the slide racking thing. I thought I needed to be a lot stronger. Thanks again!

  • Hallelujah! Seriously enjoyed this vid. You mention how not every gun's slide will move forward to load a round after slamming the mag in. I cannot agree more. If every gun did that I would not have a problem with this technique. So much to comment on this video but I will keep it short. Very nice vid.

  • Dang! She does it a lot better than I do. Of course, I'm very new to gun ownership, only took my first gun to the range 3 times so far. But she's excellent with handling them.

You see, this is where training kids to use & respect firearms comes in. Liberals & gun-grabbers & the press have no clue that there really are lots of kids who know how to handle firearms responsibly. And they refuse to acknowledge that youth have used guns in this country since before its founding. Great video.

  • My wife recently started shooting, she was not strong enough to do the sling shot method. She simply could not pull the slide back far enough. It was like looking at someone trying to pull a compound bow that was to strong for them. After showing her the proper method (as you demonstrate), she has had no issues. From many years of MA I can clearly tell you that the closer to the body you get, the stronger you are.

  • I find when showing small handed and often female potential gun buyers the palm/four finger grip helps on most guns...what seems to help the same or more...even if slingshot grip is used is showing the...don't pull the slide push the gun thing you noted...It's like jedi magic-LOL suddenly they go from I cant to...wow that works...often new shooters dont even grab the serrated area of the slide that is there to help you grab it...so when I hand someone a gun as they shop for their first I usuall

  • woah magical shirt change o.O

  • Sorry but have to defend the slingshot method , I treat the chamber like the muzzle and don't want my hand anywhere near it when I am shooting , reloading or unloading.

  • IT makes sence..i have noticed i do it that way..and i also think its great to have your child aware of guns..people are afraid of Guns becouse they are not aware of the proper handling.

i have told my chidlren to act like a gun is louded all the time...ALL TIME...

  • Very nice.

I only have one pistol where this outright DOESN'T work - Beretta Neos. Has a full-length upper rail, and you end up sandpapering your palm across the sightrail edge, lol. That one MUST be done slingshot style, but then again, it's not a very tough pull and it's very easy to keep on target while manipulating the slide.

  • LOL if a 13 year old girl can do it, then a grown man should be able to do it!!!

  • Yeah Dude Nothing Flashy Or Unnesscary. I Think I Spelled Unesscessary Wrong Twice But Anyway. But Yeah Man Keep It Simple No Hollywood Flash Or Nonchalant Lets Rock and Roll. No. Just Operate The Weapon As A Tool. Thanks Man That Was Informative And I Hope To See More Videos

  • shes a badass end of story

  • excellent vid.

  • Great vid. If this leads to one less mall ninja in the works, you have done humanity a great service.

  • I hope the guy who shoots at me has been training in the order of the mallninga. I'll shoot his ass while he chases his spend case around on the floor.....

  • @oldmoney74 Heck yes, I think we all have that wish.

  • The only complaint I have with this method is with guns like the Beretta 92FS or M9. I always catch my palms against the external safety of my 92FS which makes it a very tricky process compared to the quick and smooth pull of my Sig 226. That aside, I agree this is this the best method for chambering a round. Great videos!

  • yea i usually do the slingshot technique just to see the round go into the chamber...but thats when im out in an open field hunting....but at the range and in some other cases your "cupping" technique is very nice....great video!!

  • Enjoyed the whole series. That's something I have to work on, as on my Glocks I have extended slide catches/releases and love to use them. But if shooting weak-hand, etc., I would be screwed. Thanks for bringing this point up. Train as you fight, and in this case I need to modify my training. Thanks again, keep up the good work. Glad I found your channel!

  • Awesome video man! I'd done own a hand gun, but I'm still going to subscribe none the less!

  • Great video, very informative. The reason people slingshot their slide is because it allows the operator to visually see the round enter the chamber. I was taught to do it that way in the Marines. After I learned the cupping technique I have never gone back. Keep up the good work.

  • Hah, you know what? As a new guy with handguns(in the process of buying my first), I thought the sling-shot method was THE normal method haha. I couldn't do that with my cousin's empty Glock 23 but the day before when I went to check in on the handgun I was going to purchased, I played it safe with the way you demonstrated there as it's MUCH more easier to me that way. Plus there was no fidgeting, not a lot of movement, it was just easy to rack and boom, that's it. Thanks for the vid :)

  • @rollwave7587 There was no "cameraman" used for this video. Scrupulous attention was paid to safety throughout production. It's noted beginning at about 10:55 that both "the mouse" and I chamber checked personally - several times - immediately prior to taping. It's best not to make assumptions about such things.

  • @rollwave7587 dumbass

  • This is so true! it works fr almost every single gun as technique! i just realized i have been using this technique with my airsoft guns since i was small! Great video, man! Since im gonna go gun collector or like owner, it was very informative on how to shoot it and reload it! I'm almost ready for the zombie apocalypse that is possible to happen soon! (viewers, don't comment bad saying it's wrong, look up info in how the zombie apocalypse can actually happen)

  • Great video man, very informative, i always questioned why i saw ppl tryin to rack the slide in the "slingshot" style when i try to do that i find it is much more difficult, and awkward. Thus me going with the more "tactical" style which i agree is more efficient and safe. First video i cam across of yours, and i will definitely keep an eye out for others. thanks for taking the time to put this up. Great for people not as experienced.

  • @JoeyB600rr Thanks for the kind words. I do what I can. ;-)

  • Hard to argue with solid facts!

    Sub'ed

  • You have like, the BEST daughter.

  • It was a good video. I personally have used the slingshot method for many years but occasionally I use the overhand method as well. I loved your video and your daughter is evidently very well trained. I am sure she will give any criminal all the hardship he could possibly want.

    Great work.

  • Solid advice, high stress = little if any fine motor skills, forget that slide release. It bugs me when my Glock loads a round on its own after a reload because I know under stress I will rack that slide and put a perfectly good round on the deck. I love to watch guys at the range start out shooting very slow until they have 30 or so holes covering a target, cannot tell where they are hitting anymore, then its one handed mag dump time. Dirt shooters.......... gotta love 'em.

  • you must be law enforcement or an ffl because ruger lcp in not ca doj (drop test approved) i know i wanted to buy one. thanx for the vids..new subscriber by the way.

  • This kind of video is why i get excited when you post something. Its something of quality and substance. I have grown very frustrated with some of the fancy and overpriced nonsense videos on youtube. I love all of your videos man, thank you for taking the time out to try and teach us something or give us things to think out.

    God Bless

    -Josh

  • @Northemt88 Thanks. I am trying very hard to NOT do the 'same old thing' that you see on every other channel. Some of those are excellent, but I am just trying to be unique.

  • Ha, you seem like a cool guy. Subscribed! :)

  • Outstanding Vid! Note - she did it with nail polish for all you girly girls.

  • I actualy have trouble with my Kel-tec (same as the Ruger LCP). I think my hands are just to large with that little bitty slide, lol. Well I will get it some day.

  • I've never seen you vids before... this was very good.

  • if i dont put the gun into battery myself the gun is not in battery.

  • My god! You guys are like the real life Big Daddy and Hit Girl!

  • @BenevolentZombyJesus You should check out the younger on "The Armadillo" shooting bulls-eyes with her 22 cal Cricket rifle in my "Family Shooting" video. My oldest daughter is also scary proficient with a number of handguns, rifles and shotguns. I am actually forming my own "Deadly Viper Assassination Squad" of sorts, lol.

  • 2:35 "nothings going to happen" as the gun discharges and hit's the neighbor hahahahah these are the demented thoughts of bored 145 year olds that play with guns (:

  • A great and informative video! Thanks!

  • Thank you. I haven't shot at a range much and haven't seen that technique.

  • Learn something new every day. cool. Thanks!!!

  • Tactical Mouse is a rock star! Great tips and great points. Couldn't agree more.

  • Good video!! I love to hear people griping on the range about pulling the slide back. I always tell them that I can't body slam people very good either, but if I were taught the proper technique with some practice I could get good at it.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone shows up to the range and hasn’t learned how to manipulate their weapon properly.

My wife and I liked the “lovely assistant” there at the end.

  • Great fundamentals video I hate the slide lock reload it grates on my guns so bad I've never done it again.

  • @harr77 I've used the slide-release method myself for a long time, but have recently begun avoiding it. I had an instructor demonstrate rather pointedly how unreliable it can be in a stressful situation.

  • Bravo Tactical Mouse!

  • @drzmanproject The mouse is scary good for her age.

  • You are EXACTLY right! Great service to the UTUBE community.

    Tks!!!

  • Great, great video!

  • well done!!!

  • Great vid bro!! Always important to remind ourselves of the fundementals.

  • LOL,good vid, this will make every muscle man feal stupid!LOL

Ive seen also a lot of stupid technique out there and they say always the same thing

(hey man this is a brand new gun!)

  • great info my friend

  • thank u sir 4 the video very informative

  • Before my bro even showed me how I knew how to do all that from common sense. Knew how to load the clip/mag, knew how to pull the top back, knew how to empty a chamber, etc.

I'm sorry but if you cant even pull the top back just dont bether with guns cause if you do it "gangster style" as he put it,youll just hurt yourself or someone else!

  • Kool video man. I did a video on the "slam mag" technique because I actually thought it was a malfunction for the M&P since both of mine did it consistently. I happen to think it is a pretty good tool if you can do it consistently.

Oh and your daughter probably pissed off some nancies that can't pull the slide back lol.

  • @smttysmth02gt You should send me a video response request and attach it to this vid.

  • @ZombieTactics Done..........................after searching for 10 minutes on how to freaking do it. Thanks. Love the vids btw. Check out analytical survival if you haven't already.

  • great video, using a gun the right way beats looking "cool" any day

  • Great advice.

  • Probably one of the most informative vids about racking a semi-auto slide on youtube. Bravo!

  • @kevinarmstrong1 Thanks for the kind words.

  • I can do this with my G23 also. Scared the crap out of me when it first did.

  • This bring practicality back to everyones attention were it needs to be.

  • Excellent. I am guilty of slingshot method. I appreciate you putting this up.

  • @jnjulie well, it's not a "guilty" thing. If you can slingshot effectively, and do it with malfunction clearances as well ... who I am I to say that it's "wrong"? Most instructors (well all of them as far as I know, lol) teach the overhand because it's effective in almost any position, and works for malf clearance as well.

  • @ZombieTactics It's a case of "you don't know what you don't know." I've seen others use the overhand; I never learned it because I didn't know what the proper technique was. I was mostly using the non-dominant hand instead of the dominant hand for power.

  • Good lesson! Thanks for posting!

P.S. Stop worrying about the Safety Sallies.

  • haha, epic demonstration. I Love this video, I can't believe i've been doing it "wrong" 80% of the time. Thank you ZT and Tac mouse!

  • Extra points for training a 13 y/o to deal with this situation! Right on man!

  • 30 years should mean something, brother. Well done.

  • Tac mouse is smart!

  • @BlueCollarSurvival Scary smart.

  • all this safety crap is getting way out of hand. if you don't know how to handle a gun take a nra course. then do all the rest of use a favor and DO NOT watch or comment on any tactical vids until you know how not to be a idiot. sorry for the rant. great vid it just sucks that you haft to spend 25% of the vid telling people the guns are unloaded.

  • This is great. I remember handling my uncle's Jetfire (in .25ACP I believe) not more than 2 years ago and I couldn't even rack the slide on that. Talk about embarrassing.

  • great vid dude. i think it's great you've got your daughter handling handguns as well. i wish my dad would have taught me more about them, but i've learned a lot on my own. always good to have vids dispelling myths so people have proper information. i bet a lot you just made a lot of shooters feel like less like men by showing them that a 13 year old girl can properly rack a slide and they can't lol

  • definitely good advice. great vid dude.

  • excellent!

  • Impressive gun handling by Tac Mouse lol!

  • still with the creepy intro music. good vid though.

  • @redspartan8 kidding ofc, i know you worked hard on the music. by the way, have you had any failures with the springfield xd40? i forgot if you had an xd9 in your basic prep videos, but yea, just curious. thanks again for the great vid mate

  • @redspartan8 No failures on the XD40. I don't own an XD9, but get to shoot them regularly ... solid so far.

  • @redspartan8 Do I need to write new intro music just so you don't need to hide under the covers? (lol)

  • The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree does she? haha. Great video! I have the SR9 too. Have you had any problem with stovepipe jams on yours?

  • Great vid! Now if only I didn't have to shoot somebody to get a pistol permit in NY. :)

    -TEW

  • @theeastwatch vote with your feet

  • Great vid

  • good video man, looking forward to your zombie rifle videos.

    Weaver

  • Fantastic safety instructions! At first I thought this was a comedic type of video because of the title. It is still funny, just the content is actually serious stuff. Great work!! Also, seem like your daughter is very well taught, she actually made racking the slide look easy ;p (Outstanding tip on the slide rack, pushing instead of pulling) I remember when I first handled a pistol, I could barely pulled the slide back...~ashamed~...

  • @Zenmagine Zen: EVERYONE thinks it's too hard at first, which is why they resort to some other technique. When I got my first handgun I did so much retarded nonsense that it's a wonder I didn't kill myself or someone else. That's embarrassing in hindsight, but hopefully videos like this are a form of "atonement".

  • Great teaching. This may help me teach my mother how to appropriately rack the slide on my 1911 and my father's Ruger P89. Now If only I could convince her to try the 12 gauge...

  • Got Ruger? lol Good video.
