Agreed, you can hear the crack in her mature voice. Her "Saving All My Love for You" will never come back. She is nearing 50. She could have maintained some control of her voice if it wasn't for the drugs. Had she maintained the voice in this recording, she would have remained magnificent. We just have to be thankful that we heard the voice of the century...

Why is loud better? This is absolutely the wrong kind of song, in terms of pacing, music and lyrics, for Ms. Houston as becomes even more clear when listening to her sing it. Wow, it is almost unbelievable to me that this isn't completely clear to everyone. Oh, and by the way, I think Ms. Houston has an incredible voice and love some of her music. It is just that some songs don't lend themselves well to certain kinds of voices.
