@AmbushUnit no its really bad. i just cant give these guys a compliment for this because it just dosent work. it was a bit cheesy when prince did it but this is just a load of rubbish. if you ever watch prince performing it live you will see its a compleatly different type of performance. he has so much energy wheras this sounded boring. nice medley into their own song though

This live performance is probably one of the best and one of the clearest and that mix that they mixed in with the prince song along with the synth thing that gordons mixed into flux is just amazing!!!

I'm not being funny, but he is playing live, at a festival, as well as playing rhythm guitar, and co-ordinating crowd participation.

It's not gonna sound as good as any performance made in a studio which is then fine tuned and processed.

Besides, you can't compare Kele to much of these - his voice is nothing like Ray Charles or James Brown and never will be - but then again Beck's and Prince's are nothing like them either.

Oh, and Kurt Cobain??? Do *your* research "firs".

this was stunning. possibly my abslute highlight of reading 2008, and there was some contest!

the mixing was a bit funny, but i heard there was some freak atmospheric condition that made the sound weird.

plus the wankers at the council who imposed loads of sound restrictions.

Flux is an amazing song, but i've seen several versions of it and was lucky enough to hear it live but it doesn't match to the studio version. it sounds somewhat weaker live.

It needs the level of the synths raising. All you really hear live is Kele, the guitars and the bass. Even the drums are somewhat drowned out. All the levels need sorting.

I agree with most of what you're saying, however flux is an amazing live experience with the lasers and Kele's vocals are astounding. I do think they should lower the guitar and raise the synth though.
