@retrocareermelted i have this synth (it was my first, i bought it when i was 14). and i love its bass sounds and its funky odd leads. though i do agree it is the best in its price range, i dont like the keys very much. they feel better than korg's crappy keys, but theyre nothing special imo.
Being a newbie is just a state of ignorance, not a state of lesser intelligence, so don't be condescending.
It takes no effort to sit and actually learn arbitrary facts like what a vocoder is and what random LFO does, so it's not something you should be proud of knowing, because *having* knowledge doesn't make you special.
Why don't you just be happy that you can share what you know so that everyone doesn't have to be a newb?
This isn't an instructional video. The author didn't state in the description to ask him a bunch of questions that can be answered with a simple google search. Thats all i'm saying.
An LFO is basically the pattern or shape you want an attached filter or effect to make. If its random, the frequency of the filter will rise and fall at random. In this case, it makes the timbre of the synth alternate with each key press.
Low Frequency Oscillator. It's like.. a really low frequency tone (usually under 20hz) which modifies the other waveforms in some way. A low frequency sine is wobbly, which naturally creates a clean vibrato effect.
@askerp2007 You have no doubt discovered a lot since you asked this but I would like to recommend Analog Synthesizers by Mark Jenkins. I first saw synths on YT but I don't think I'd have bought one if I hadn't read this book first. He gives practical instruction on synthesis (explained carefully), history of synths and music, interviews and advice on buying one. They all cost more now!
nice vid, hey im new to this sinth stuff, but ive been playing piano fo a while, any tips to what i should buy for a beginner???
