Sure it sounds as you say, and you may be right. I love it though because it helps feed my misery. I am depressed and listening to these songs help me to bask in this darkness...yes it is self-loathing but its the world I live in. If your looking for a more enlightening song then I suggest listening to Kate Perry or Guy Sabastian, Leave Radiohead to those who enjoy it.

They should never be allowed in the same room as Floyd, Radiohead. One love though.

Thom Yorke is on the record as saying that the song was inspired by Michael Stipe of REM. They were touring together and Thom was overwhelmed by all the stress and Stipe told him that whenever he felt overwhelmed, what he would do is sit in the middle of his hotel room with all the lights turned off and close his eyes and repeat over and over "I'm not here, this isn't happening." One of my favorite Radiohead songs and particularly because of the emotion it evokes. Sad but empowering.
