  • "The Way of the Warrior

    can not be encompassed

by words or in letters :

    grasp the essence

    and move on toward realisation."

Sensei Morihei Ueshiba: ART OF PEACE

Thank you for this wonderful video.

  • Not at all impressive. Maybe it looked better in-person.

I like aikido. I am shodan Nishio-Ryu, but this display of art doesn't look very martial.

  • Maybe when I have been practicing for 50 years instead of the 19 I have been I will be able to understand where my Sensei and Sensei's like Hikitsuchi are in their practice of Aikido. Untill then I watch, and try and learn.

  • aikido cannot be looked upon it can be feeled upon :) I have great respect for Nishio sensei but I do so for Hikitsuchi sensei... They both are great it is just a different point of view that creates the different way that others see it. But still in it's very core it is the same

  • @mdiem When you receive it from a direct dtudent, it is impressive. You feel like he's the eye of the cyclone

  • Aikido proper is a martial art , the unification of one's mind and body may well come through practicing the art , but you cut a wild flower and put it in a vase to look at it - and it's no longer a wild flower .

  • Aikido is a way of training. It's ultimate purpose is not developing the ability to fight but learning to develope unification of one's mind and body.

  • Once again, not everyone likes Rembrandt, Yoyo Ma, The Beatles, Golf, Astrology...and the reason is the same curse of ages,"lack of understanding, ignorance, and / or a closed mind"!

'If you argue with a fool, someone watching from a distance cannot tell who is the fool'?

  • pay no mind to idiots, aikido is far to complex for their understanding.

  • @chi854 Boah, I don't think it has to do with complexity. Complexity is an overrated notion ; rather it is for something simple that Aïkido is extraordinary. Something simple that requires great sensitivity, not worldly, mundane intelligence.

  • How about for someone who watched, imagined, narrated out something as idiotic and then laughed by himself? Is that sane? Kid, you should not talk this way and put up your portrait for everyone to see. Nightmarish..

  • In the olden days Metal weapons were banned in Okinawa, Farms were easy targets for the ruthless samurai, many of these farmers learned akido using rakes and what not. To get to 10th dan takes about 60-70 years, nothing idiot about that. Your the fool for not doing a martial art.

In conclusion you are a fat American youtube bastard, Go to fucking hell.

  • "Olden days" and "aikido" are not usually featured in the same sentence... especially since aikido did not exist when the samurai were around.

  • Actually, although Aikido did not 'exist', the principle of Aiki did. Samurai tried to master this principle in their practice.

Aikido ("way of aiki") is a modern adaptation of this practice. Many techniques are based on basic samurai weapon training, as is the posture and mindset.

On another note, the samurai were still around when the modern budo came into being. They weren't in POWER anymore, but that's a different thing.

  • well now. you can speak truth in one breath and yet dam america, youtube, and overweight people in the next.

  • You need to study Japanese history. You are backwards on your facts.

  • I study a different martial art entirely, but i atleast have the decensy to respect this man.

  • .......

  • is that aikido style work in a real fight?!!!!

    and another question....

a 10th dan master have a chance in a real fight in a rig?!!!

    for exemple in k1....

i think a k1 fighter will beat a 10th dan master in any style....

  • K1?...Ring?...the next word is RULES? How do you consider a regulated, timed, oftentimes fixed fight, in a ring, with a ref, with rules, a REAL FIGHT? This TV mma craze has really made people believe that if U haven't been in UFC, or Pride, or K1 or some other sport that your martial arts are ineffective. That's like saying if you haven't played in the NBA you can't play basketball. Silly!

  • O'Sensei died in 1969, not 1963. The ukes don't attack all at once because some are naturally slower than others, so by the time the next attacker catches up, the previous is already being thrown, and you wouldn't want to be hit with a flying foot (I've seen careless ukes being knocked out by coming too close before the throw was over).

  • moreover they can disturbe themselves. More interesting to have clean moves

  • why didnt they all jump him at once?

  • because it's a demonstration, dumbass...
