  • those necks look amazing!!!

  • Is it possible for you to scallop and Ibanez wizard II neck with shark tooth inlays?

  • WANT!!!!!

  • I got here by way of the kid who 'professionally' scalloped his own fretboard with a file and a sanding block. I think your work is just a bit nicer, hahaha.

  • really nice work....OUTSTANDING STUFF.....

  • um i cant help but notice that your phone number is from pr sorry i just think que nos conocemos por una razon o otra lol

  • YEAH!!! RACER X >>>>>>I love Paul Gilbert!!!

He is IMHO much more cooler than Steve Vai or Satriani. I saw G3 in New York and he was the best one in the Jam at the end!

  • can you scallop set necks

  • I'm going to get a Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro and was wondering if you would be able to scallop it? If so how much would it cost?

  • Can I go to any guitar shop and ask for them to scallop it?

  • how much would it cost to have this done to a simple 21 fret neck?

  • And you let the song keep playing.... ah, you are a guitarist indeed. I'm seriously thinking about scalloping now, thank you (not on my own though, I don't trust myself enough to scrape wood off my baby.)

  • Hello, can you tell me the names of the tools you use?

  • Hi, are you able to scallop a fender stratocaster american standard? and also would you recommend from a certain fret onwards or is it better to do the entire neck?

  • @Frettrend Hey, sure I can scallop that neck!. Some people scallop from the 12th fret upwards to the 21 or 22. It depends on your style of playing and your preferences. If you do a lot of complicated chords, I wouldn't recomend scalloping the first frets (or the frets you mainly use for chords) because if you press the strings hard, the chords can go out of tune.

  • are those scallops to like yngwies specs? and do you give the neck a layer of nitrocellulose lacquer after you scallop it?

  • @midget6mafia Hello. The scallop depth depends on the type of neck and the top side markers. If the customer doesn't care about losing the top side markers, I can go as deep as they want. Yes, after the scalloping process, a coat of lacquer is applied.

  • @PietriGuitars i heard that the conventional depth is aroud like 2-3mm

  • beautiful

  • I 've got a washburn mercury series (24frets), can I fit a fender stratocaster scallop neck (21) on that guitar?

  • Like the Racer X!!! A great song for your shop!!! Cool!!!

  • those look very nice! And where do you live??? the Shire?

  • LOL this video is both dedicated to the necks and the song, love it.

still can't do the last ascending scale, dammit.

  • the relief is not at the realy right place

  • very nice work. any tips on polishing the fingerboard to that level of shine? or is it just lacquer?

  • IGNORE THE TEDDY BEAR

  • Man, these are some beatuful necks!

  • What does scalloping offer me? I know you can bend better, but will I still be able to play just as fast and will I have trouble tapping?

  • songs name?

  • @adame1993 technicals difficulties - paul gilbert

  • What song is that?

  • can you do trapezoid inlays as well like on an sg

  • YEAH!!!! PAUL GILBERT

  • very beautiful strat neck lol the only maple fretboard i would use.

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS!!!?!?!?!?

  • awesome video. but i prefer the metal dog solo section :P

  • whats the idea of scalloping a fretboard? sorry firts time i see this kind of fretborards....thank u!!!

  • smoth look

  • how much does this all cost?

  • great song!

  • My bud and I have just learned how to do this and are thinking of starting our own company. I know you probably don't want competition (but we wouldn't be competition anyways XD) but would you say that offering the service is a worthwhile project to take on?

  • not many videos with racer x... like it

  • i see you put a glossy clear finish on the fret board when you were finished. I didn't know you could do that to a fret board. What kind of finish do you use on it, it looks great.

  • is the guy at the end yngwie malmsteen jamming out pink floyd or something?

  • yngwie's fender?

    looks the same

  • that first neck shown in the beginning was gorgeous!

  • paul gilbert ftw

  • those boards are clean and shinier than a bitch

  • @wagatabuchunga1 and bitches are pretty shiny hahaha

  • What song is playing on the back?

  • do you think you could do a les paul neck? and how much would it cost for shipping from ontario canada

  • Cleanest fretboard on the world!

  • Question: I have a neck-through steinberger, which weighs about 7lbs. About how much would the shipping be both ways from Philadelphia, plus the cost of a full scallop? Thanks!

    From,

    an interested customer

  • Technical Difficulties, by Paul Gilbert

  • Omg the neck in the beginning was beatiful :P

  • Basically the fingers no longer come into contact with the fretboard, just the strings. John McLaughlin has said it makes bending easier. Mostly they seem to be used by heavy metal players so I guess it helps with speed too. Ritchie Blackmore was the first person I ever saw with one.

  • @RCbeastly

I am a blues Player, my style is along Hendrix meets Steve Morse and you are right most metal players use them.

You can really grab the strings and vibrato like nobodies business.

I use to own two Malmsteen Strats in the 90's and Yngwie actually signed one of them for me when I opened for him at a small club. Joe Bonamassa bought one of them off of me at his house.

I miss those Strats, I am thinking of getting a custom made scallop guitar made.

  • What are the advantages of scalloping and what is it all about?

  • Walliot, I have a few questions on your services, I have a Steinberger (spirit gt-pro deluxe) headless guitar. Can you scallop Thru-neck/Set-neck guitars, specifically from 12 and up? My second question is for looks, do you know how to place inlays on fretboards? In specifically in the style of a Steve Vai Jem with the vines.

  • Hello.

I can scallop a neck thru/set neck guitar with no problems. The only drawback is that unless you live close to me, the shipping costs will be very high due to size and weight of the package.

Now for inlay work, I currently offer dot markers. Elaborate vine inlays are possible but are very time consuming and special tools are needed. I currently don't offer them because I'm on a tight schedule. I'f you really want to have it done, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

  • @PietriGuitars Pietri money is no issue, you just tell me what I would owe you I'll pay you it. About the inlays, its something I would really like having done, I don't mind how long it takes or how much more it is. Give me an estimate though and we should be fine.

  • Walliot does great work. He did my neck on a Squire 85' rosewood neck and it's awesome. Great rates and quick turn around and unlike other scallop luthiers doesnt feel the need to down grade other peoples work to make his own shine!

  • Hello Michael. Thanks for the great comment!, I'm glad you like my work. Feel free to contact me if you need anything else.

    Regards,

    Walliot Pietri

  • just ignore the teddy bear XD ITS PEDO BEAR 0_0

  • malmsteen

  • that rosewood one looks beast

  • technical difficulties by paul gilbert

  • if you want your guitar looks very shiny, you must use a spray called " SPRAY CLEAR" i just do scalloped on my fret guitar and i spray it with spray clear and it very shiny.... :-)

  • why is it so shiny? can someone reply.

  • scallop yourself a maple fretboard neck and then spray a couple of thin highgloss clear nitro cellulose lacquer on it and buff up to 2000 wet and buff it!

  • cause it's finished?

  • paul gilbert technical difficullties quite cool ehy

  • where are you located?

  • racer x!!!!!!!!

    by the way great job

  • how much is your scalloping service and what is the turn around time?

  • Scalloping is of absolutely no use if your going to refret it with jumbo frets... But I'll admit it looks good!

  • Why not scallop a neck with jumbo frets? I would think the higher fret would keep the fingertip that much further from the wood, thus enhancing the effect. Have you had a negative experience with such a setup?

  • No, but I've tried one a few times and didn't see significant change in tone or playability... The high frets, however, were fantastic for bending, they just screeched like a banshee from hell!

  • Great job! Let me know how much for a scallop job!

  • i mean on the first one.

  • how much would a neck like that run for?

  • wow, excellent job! one of the very best I have seen!

  • how do inlays affect the process

  • Can you scallop a thin rosewood neck from an Ibanez Prestige 1570 ? and how much does it cost ?

  • do you do bound fingerboards too?

  • yes, bound fingerboards are no problem at all

  • How might a scalloped neck help with your guitar playing? or does it just serve a cosmetic purpose.

  • could you scallop a set in neck?

  • Sure, You would have to send in the entire guitar though, jacking up the shipping prices because of the weight and size. Let me know.

  • i like the black fender neck (scalloped one)

  • damn those look nice...

  • looks good! and great song for the video! i love racer x!

  • yngwie says that it is more difficult to become fast on a scalloped neck

  • he's then telling lie! he does not want the feature of the fretboard that helps him play so fast (which is actually the only thing he can do) be known or wants to deliberately discourage people scallope their fretboards.

just do not fuck your fretboards up to play like malmsteen.

malmsteen simply suckzz! today even on youtube there are thousands of malmsteens (and at least even tens of those better than him!)

  • oi stop dissing malmsteen, scalloped fretboard makes no difference to speed, just gives more control on bends and vibrato

  • Where are you guys located?

  • We're located in Puerto Rico

  • I dont own one, but knew someone that did it to his guitar. He was really fast on the neck, but what he did was he never "Pressed down" til he hit the fretboard. That would be more difficult and would sharpin every note. You basically float above the frets (only really fretting the notes) & playing the fret positions sounding the notes but not pressing them to the board. You can simulate this on your basic neck by only pressing down to sound the note, but not hitting the fretboard

  • so when you play on a scalloped neck, is it really that much easier to push down the string and fret the note, than on a nonscalloped neck? if i wanna shred super fast like joe stump, would scalloping my fretboard really help that much?

    thanks

  • it helps with speed a tad, but really it doesn't make much of a difference. Its main use is extremely good control over vibrato and bends.

  • When scalloping a guitar what does it? Does it just make tapping easier?

  • 100% control of the strings......bendings, vibrato...etc....

  • hello my friend i try to reach you but i cant i have send you an email to your inbox and to myspace when you see them let me know

    Best Regards Nick

  • y do you need to scallop the fretboard?

  • You don't need to scallop your fretboard, this is only a mod some players make to their guitars in order to have more sting control and easier vibrato.

    -Walliot

  • Dear god, excellent job!

  • Wow thanks a lot, I'm glad you like my work.

    -Walliot Pietri

  • How do you get you're fret board to shine like that?

  • Well in case of rosewood, You sand it smooth, oil it, and buff the hell out of it until you get the desired shine. If you have a buffing wheel, it will do wonders!

    -Walliot

  • that first neck you see is so shiny and perfectly done its incredible! btw when you file the fret dots off how do you get them back on?

  • Those guitars are amazingly scalloped.

  • so how much would it be to scallop a fretboard with 24 frets on it?

  • Small question:

Do you / Can you do custom inlays as well, or would a scalloped / lacquered neck be the main service offered?

  • scalloped necks rule !:P

someone tell me what song is this???

    cheers

    NEAT!!!

  • Technical Difficulties by Racer-X

  • beautiful...

  • How much would putting in Skull inlays, Black Paintjob and Yngwie Malmsteen style scalloping cost?

  • a lot

  • What are the advantages o scalloped guitars?

  • better bends and easier to press frets

  • i live in australia i was just wonder how much would it cost me to have a whole neck scalloped?

  • Im wondering the same thing I live in australia too

  • besides giving you more controle doing bends, what else does scalloping do

  • good vibrato, and better control

  • How difficult is it for you to scallop ebony? Also, does being scalloped affect how often I will have to adjust my neck?

  • Scalloping ebony is not much harder than any other type of wood, it is simply more dense than the softer maple or rosewood fretboards. Also ebony is a lot easier to polish and shine than rosewood. If your neck is properly adjusted you normally should not have to adjust the truss rod(regardless if you have or dont have scallops)except when you go play in another place where the temp is colder or hotter than where you are (sometimes if you change the string guage, a slight adjustment is needed

  • Alright, thanks. Also, doesn't scalloping affect the integrity of the neck?

  • Not at all. When you scallop a neck, only a little bit of the fretboard is removed by the carving proccess. I have scalloped a friend's ibanex wizard neck (Very thin) and no adjustments were needen. It did not lose integrity

  • the scalloped rosewood fretboard is quite sick

  • great song

    Racer X Rules

  • damn straight

  • what is the use of doing that?

  • If you do this, your fingers do not touch the fretboard and hence, no friction is produces. This will let you play faster and have less finger fatigue. It DRAMATICALLY increases your control over the strings allowing you to do greater bends without the worry of having the string slip from under your finger during that mega 3 note bend :)

  • Hola cuanto costaria si es a Mexico el envio.

    Nada mas trabajas con Fender??

  • Trabajo con cualquier marca, no solo Fender. El envio a Mexico sera $15 dejame saber

  • you are like the best one on youtube.

thanks for letting the song play

  • Hey, I love this song to so... not a problem letting it play bro.

  • So if I were to send you my guitar neck to be scalloped to the standards of the first neck in the video, what would the price range on that be?

  • Hello $150 for a complete scallop And Refret with jumbo fretwire. Return priority tracked shipping is included in the price.

  • Holy fuck, what a beautiful neck o_o

  • Thank you very much for your support.

    -Walliot

  • if Id like to get my squire strat scalloped, do I send you the whole guitar or just the neck. Not sure how to disassemble guitar by the way. and what prices do you charge. thanks

  • Please do not send the entire guitar unless the neck cannot be removed from the body. the shipping costs would be higher if you send the entire guitar instead of the neck.

    Thanks

    -Walliot

  • Yeah, I have done some of these sharfin inlay fretboards in the past

    Thanks

  • What song is this? Can quite remember.

  • Technical Difficulties by Racer X (Paul Gilbert)

  • could i possible buy one of these from you of send you my neck to add jumbo frets and scalloped

  • so how much would it cost me to buy a neck from you? i mean i do not have a neck to send for you to scallop but maby you have some spares lying around? a fender strat maple would be nice :D

  • Hello.

If you do not have a neck to send me, I can offer you a scalloped, refreted (Jumbo or any size you want) maple allparts neck for $325

This includes shipping to continental USA. Exactly like the first neck of the video!!!Thank you

  • I'm really interested in either buying one of your necks or getting my guitars scalloped, what state or city is your shop in?, i really would like to see and play one first. How much do you charge for scalloping a strat neck and applying a coat of finish to the scalloped area? Thanks

  • Thats dirt cheap! How the hell are you making any money! Hell, the neck is $325 WITHOUT the scalloping!

  • he makes the money by offering a amazing price. that way all the customers go to him and not anyone else. thus him making profit but taking a neck that he probably gets for cheaper and selling it for standard price with his work done to it. :) cheers

  • beautifully done

  • Hello what is the depth of scallop of the first guitar? that of maple, in millimetres , 1.5mm?

it excuses my English is not very good :P

  • Hello It is around 1.5 to 2 mm deep

    Thanks
