  • Italians are fucking liars and cheaters, that's news.

  • Of course it's a dive, but if you go by the book, it's still a penalty. Dont blame Grosso, he's doing anything to win in that situation, as anyone would. If you want to blame someone, it's Fifa and the penalty rules.

  • That was NEVER a penalty. Australia were robbed and Italy went on to be the World Champions later on.....

  • Why did he move his left leg deliberately to the left? Did he *want* to trip himself?

  • 0:07...Penalty!!

  • 1. Neil dives in like a fool.

    2 .Grosso clearly beats him.

    3. Neil at 0:07 grabs Grosso's foot.

    4. Neil tries to show his innocents by showing the referee both his hands are free after the contact.

    5. No one from the Australian team desputed the penalty.....why?

That said FIFA rules state..." Any player in the penalty area obstructed on the way to the goal with a chance to score is awarded a penalty". Italy 1 Australia 0,the rest is history.

  • @yes90125 are you kidding me? are you mentally challanged?!?!

i can admit, i dont know the first thing about soccer rules but i know for a fact that if i was in the world cup i would dive for the ball and try slide tackle in order to get the ball. Neil wasnt a fool. do you expect him to just stand there and watch?

and you are an idiot of you think neil grabs grossos foot!

6 years have passed and personally im over this incident. but it pisses me off when people make dumbass comments

  • @BirthdayySuitUp I apoligise, your right I didnt realise that Neils left hand reaches for the hotdog that was given to him by the trainer. You admit you dont know the first thing about soccer rules yet you despute the fact that this wasnt a penalty? There is only one person mentally challenged here. Leave us intellectuals alone and go study some objectivism!!

  • Grosso is a little lying cunt

  • I always thought it was a penalty but the fact that grosso pretty much made two movements and pretty much moved himself into neil = no penalty. Its similar to how harry kewell dived against perth glory last week, i mean it was to movements 1. knock the ball passed defender and 2. run into the defender. Kewell did not get a penalty and grosso shouldnt of too.

  • Love how people are fighting it wasnt a dive when FIFA actualy apologised to Australia because it was a dive

  • All Grosso had to do was lift his leg over Neill's face but then he realised that he could milk a penalty from it so he went down. So obvious its not funny. Italian Cheats.

  • HAS ANYBODY EVER ACTUALLY FUCKING THOUGH THAT HE PUT HIS ARM UP TO PROTECT HIS FACE WHICH THAT ITALIAN FUCKWIT WAS ABOUT TO RUN INTO!!! IT'S FUCKING INSTINCT TO SHIELD YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE HIT BY SOMETHING!!!

  • Since contact was made it was a penalty, the sad thing is that players that feel just the slightest contact go down as if their testicles were munched on by a rogue lion, FIFA needs to find a way to determine if contact was made without players having to dive like this..

  • italy has held up a world cup 4 times, defeating nations such as germany, spain, brasil, argentina along the way.australia is a mere pimple.they should be privilaged sharing the field with such football pedigree.get the fuck over it!

  • niell slid in missing the ball. he then raised his elbow making contact with grosso left leg. grosso dropped like a bitch but thats not the point. ITS A CLEAR FUCKING PENALTY GET OVER IT

  • @Hrvoje10000 LOL! Clearer than a blue clear sky. CHEERS! Actually the more you watch it the more obvious it is that this is a penalty.

  • @Hrvoje10000 FUCK OFF YOU FUCKING DICKHEAD! ITS A DIVE YOU ANTCHRIST BEAST

  • @monobrow112233 wow you make a compelling argument you fat slut

  • This is why a potentially great game is so bad, so sad at this level. It's who plays it and how it is played. Rugby should never get a look in, but it does, because it commands respect.

  • clearly a penalty whining Aussie twats. grow up ffs. italy 4 world cups and some of the best players in the world. I have nothing against Australia but come on this is clearly a penalty.

  • Absoulutley No penatly

  • @RobotChicken289 i knowwe wpuldve of won the world cup

  • @pato341xx56 We might not have won but we would've bet Ukraine and went down too the semi's

  • I remember this game well. It was never a penalty, not in a millions years. The Aussies were cheated and this is coming from an Englishman.

  • @nabmohs1 Fabio Grosso was tripped.

  • @arang0314 Grosso must be the weakest cunt on earth if he was actually tripped by that.. Oh wait he is.. because he's an Italian diving rat, The weakest cunts of all hahahaha. Serie A is a joke, It's all diving and faking to get free kicks and penalties & it's full of match fixing cheats.

  • @dillonmb Grosso was not weak. It was rather Neill who has strong enough arms and hands to trip anybody. Even you.

  • When Australians got into the World Cup, I remember heaps of kids at my school were playing soccer because they were so into it after we had placed. After this game they realised that soccer is just about appealing to the referee because a penalty makes a huge difference. If you're going to make a penalty call, get a damn camera to back you up. It's a free kick either way so it doesn't matter.

  • cheating scumbag.

  • I'm sorry, Italian are generally cheaters, as a french, I obviously don't like them, their supporters were racist and vicious against us. And Materazzi, what a waste.

I'm a little bit angry against Italia, but here, there is certainly a penalty.

The australian makes an obstacle to Grosso, at his speed, a jump would be reaaaally slow, and he couldn't take the ball after that.

He didn't stop and let the ball to opponent, he showed how blocked he was. The opposite would be disproportionately kind.

  • Okay I'm not going to complain about the result, we couldn't score against italy's 10 men so I don't think we would of won anyway,

BUT what grosso did illustrates the most sad fact that will haunt football forever. There is more incentive for a player to go to ground than to keep going. He could've stayed on his feet and tried to kick a goal and be the hero, but the way football is it's better for him to win the penalty. It's why I can never love football as much as others, a shame.

  • It was a penalty, but Grosso made it look worse and he even could of stayed on he's feet and Grosso could have gone around him but ran right into him

  • 1. it was a foul 2. it was the 93rd minute of a world cup game. lets see you play that long for that intensity and see how easy it is to knock you down. it wasnt intentional, but it doesnt need to be for it to be a penalty.

and for those who say italians are cheaters, well, you can suck on our 4 stars :)

  • Yes Neil Made contact, but Grosso didn't need to RUN straight into him, my opinion=dive

  • you fucking diving cock suckers

  • yeah he could have stayed on his feet but it was poor attention seeking sportsmanship that ultimately didnt deserve a penalty.

On a brighter side LOL at Italy not even able to beat New Zealand last world cup.

  • @tomucaat So u were watching it just for that coz u just said u dont like the sport

  • @tomucaat Firstly, Its called football. Secondly, Why on earth are u here if u dont like the game. Thirdly, there actually isnt to many soft players. And Finally, Football is by far the most popular sport so there arent to many on ur side

  • that is just pathetic. anyone defending him just think, if this was a game like manchester vs chelsea then they would definitely call it a dive. no different here

  • i live in Australia,im Australian and i go for socceroos. Clearly it isn't a DIVE AT ALL. It's clear foul on Grosso therefore Italy deserves the win and be champions at 06 wc.

  • Remymagy in their "Lucas Neill vs Fabio Grosso - Was There Contact?" thinks The Australian was at fault.

  • Quality penalty tho, considering Totti's nightmare preparation for the tournament

  • Pepsimaximo1 wrote " Grosso had enough time to take the ball to the side, and therefore had enough time to move arouind Neil"

The funny thing is that Grosso did take the ball to the side and tried to run around Neill. Lucas Neill stopped him by rotating almost 90 degrees going between Grosso and the ball and tripped him in the direction which you call "the side".

  • @arang0314 I'd just like to say, if he had tried to go around Neil, then generally atleast one foot would have gone around Neil, the first foot that is.

And secondly, Neil did rotate if you want to call it that, but he curled up at the same time, instinctively. When something is coming towards you, the natural instince is to curl up and protect your vital organs (your chest). In doing this, he rotated, but no part of his body moved any further between Grosso and the ball.

  • At 5am swimming training, no one was happy after this

  • This match is bullshit he ran over the australian player. HIS FAULT NOT AUSTRALIAS.

  • The worst moment that's happened at 3 in the morning for me.

  • @ThyJovan Yeah true, I remember I woke up to watch this SHIT!

  • OK, yeah, I dont think he could of avoided it but he definitly could of stayed on his feet.

  • I felt bad for the aussie fans who travelled all the way to germany and getting knocked out this way.

  • take a look at the right elbow of the aussie. penalty

  • @numero51ify oh yeah he stabbed grosso in the back with a knife....i saw it......go fuck yourself

  • Maybe if Grosso fell over, got back up again it would b ok but no he had to cry on the ground like his mother got shot, and his a full grown man fuck

  • @arsenalfc250 The penalty was called the second Grosso was on the ground. There was no getting up option.

  • @arang0314

Anyone could of got up, especially a footy player. why did he cry as well...his a woman

  • Have any of yll played football before? At that speed, the slightest contact will make you fall. I dont even like Italy but it was a PK. Australia deserved more in in WC, but you lost to the eventual Champions, what more do you want?

  • Even if there was contact, it wasn't enough to make a fully grown man fall to ground and poor tears out like his mother just got stabbed in the neck

  • italians are sub human beings. fucking all smell like risotto fucken parmesan spaghetti smelling dogs. animals.

  • mate u have to be one hell of a sore loser and a down right low human being to say that .. over a game u call a proud friendly race of people animals ?? ill admit it wasnt the fairest descision but seriously.. sub human beings mate .. im suprised someone hasnt cracked your teeth in didnt your parents ever teach u that word called respect ?? god help you never say that to the wrong italian or person for that matter .. grow the fuck up and think next time you post such hateful disgusting comments

  • Simple, you either play a sport with honour and sportsmanship, or you are just in it for the money. Isn't fragile pride a wonderful thing.

  • :0. australia really deserved to go on, this was a foul but it was also a dive, and at least italy went on to win, making the loss bearable :)

  • IS INCREDIBLE, AFTER MANY YEARS, AND MANY CHANCES TO WATCH THE PLAY... YOU STILLL SAING THIS IS DIVE????.... IS CLEAR, NEIL MADE OBSTROCTION, ANDO TOOK GROSSO BY THE FOOT.

  • @MCBreakDown Well I support Italy sooo not really. I'm aware England are shit, doesn't make me Angry.

  • stupid italians when totti scored he just wished that was a dick in his mouth

  • Anybody knows what's the music at the end of the video?

  • pause at 0:06 lucas grabbed his back leg!!! PENALTY!!!!

  • look at lucas neiils left hand, there is contact with grosso's foot

till this very day i am still unsure if it is a dive or not

  • @rickyman44 search Youtube for a video called

"Lucas Neill vs Fabio Grosso - Was There Contact?"

Look at the following time frames (in seconds)

(51-55 secs) stop at 55 which shows LN sticking his elbow out to block FG.

(19 sec) shows the same from another angle - FG both his feet in the air and LN's elbow stiking out.

(22 sec) shows FG's left foot which came back to the ground after hitting LN's elbow.

(26-27) LN's hand on FG's foot finishing the job

  • Diving asshole, and they say ronaldo dives, look at this bitch

  • anyway even if grosso fell over Neil he was planted the grosso triped over him

  • Lucas neill shouldnt have gone to ground. He put his arm over his foot.

  • er pupone ER PUPONE! you know what i mean?

  • Okay, let's all face it, Grosso COULD have stayed on his feet for sure. The fact is though, what neil did was make a tackle obstructing the player, and getting NONE of the ball. This is clearly a foul. Italy may not have "deserved" this goal. But insulting the team's skill just makes our nation (yes, I am proudly Australian) sound like a winging bunch of babies. Italy are obviously not a shit soccer nation.

Move on. This was over four years ago. Let's hope the Aussies do well in Brazil, 2014!

  • @MusicManJoey If Grooso could have stayed on his feet he would have scored the winning goal. Lucas Neil was the last defenceman.

  • @MusicManJoey That is not obstructing a player. It's not a foul if the defender completes the slide tackle and the attacker then falls over him, so yes defenders are allowed to plonk themselves infront of attackers, as long as the tackle is completed by the time the attacker gets to them, because it is then up to the attacker to step over the defender, which really isn't that hard considering if the tackle has been completed that means theyve had alot of time. But yes, we need to forget about it

  • @Pepsimaximo1 The obstruction was not caused by Lucas Neill's body. It was caused by his elbow sticking out just at the right time when Fabio Grosson was passing by. It was also caused by LN's hand reaching far behing his back to find FG's foot and tripping him. So what you are saying simply does not apply.

  • @MusicManJoey well said

  • @MusicManJoey Thanks man. ive been trying to say this for the past 4 years but your aussies keep coming on about how shitty we are...HA!

  • @MusicManJoey you are so fucking stupid it doesnt matter that it was "obstructing" him he had an open path around him that he could have taken. Nobody is insultin their skill, they are insulting their integrity.

  • @IBagOnKSI whatever. i'm so over this shit anyway and couldnt care less. babies wanna be babies - okay, go on and complain. if you can man up and get over it, even better.

  • @MusicManJoey THANK YOU for speaking some sense! what most people don't get is that, no matter how exaggerated grosso's fall might have been, neill DID obstruct him and his arm did make contact with grosso's leg WITHOUT him having made contact with a ball first. that counts as a foul. having it all happen in the box before the goal results in a penalty kick, simple as that. very clumsy mistake by neill, unfortunately.

  • @Maryangel24 This is a reasonable point but as a referee I would just like to clarify something. I believe there was contact making it direct free kick offence in the penalty box so a penalty. I have no problems with that. But just to be clear if it was only obstruction this is an indirect free kick offence and would not be a penalty under the laws. As you say he made contact , that is the offence that gives rise to the penalty , the obstruction does not.

  • @MusicManJoey "not a shit soccer nation" remember world cup 2010

  • @nictheslick once again, making australians look childish. pretty sure any nation to make the world cup (9 times out of 10) isn't a SHIT soccer nation.

  • @MusicManJoey

You are such a good fan.. but alot of people thought you guys were robbed.. (even I thought so) but nonetheless, Italy was very tough team to beat that year..

I am proud to be Korean. :-) Go Australia! Go Korea! Go Italy!

  • @singingindark12 haha. Go Korea!

  • @MusicManJoey actually, I know the laws of the game like the back of my hand, and Grosso had enough time to take the ball to the side, and therefore had enough time to move arouind Neil. He also got one foot over before intentionally keeping the other behind to make it look more convincing, also Neil had stopped sliding even before grosso took his front foot over. all of this shows that Neil's slide tackle was completed, and therefore Grosso is deemed to have fallen OVER Neil.

  • @MusicManJoey But, in saying that, you are right, we should just look ahead, and hopefully when we find ourselves in this kind of form again, we won't have Italy to deal with.

  • @MusicManJoey Neill actually had his eyes on the ball the whole time. When Grosso falls over him, Neill actually ducks his head

No penalty, yellow for Grosso, freekick to Australia

This is why we need video replays in football, so that cheaters like this can't get away with pussy antics like this

  • @J4K31 Exactly. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thoroughly knows the Laws of The Game :P

  • @J4K31 red card to grosso-he had been booked already

  • @J4K31 thats not the rule dickhead. i have two questions

did neil make any contact with the ball? No

did neil make any contact with grosso? yes.

result a penalty to italy and a world cup.

its been 6 fucking years you cunts wernt robbed of anything get over it and stop crying about it.

  • There was a contact and it doesn't matter that it wasn't intentional. Grosso was wise and took advantage of the contact. It's a penalty.

  • i cant tell how i hate italian football(ers). fuckin gypsy wankers !

  • @MusicManJoey well said man ! You have to be proud of yr team ..Australia is an huge sporting nation and you'll do well in soccer too...you just need good coaches to improve tactic ( and Hiddink was good) and get more experience ..also how to win a match like this ;-)

In Italy we are playing "calcio" at the highest level since 100 years and more and success requires a lot of ingredients :-)

  • lucas was down before the itialian even came close 2 him

    bull shit

  • Without video ref's players need to be dramatic to get attention braught to the foul or situation. Is the whole world blind. When FIFA is not prepared to update the game to help situations this will keep happening with every team. I see players in all teams dive throughout heaps of games but yet everybody consintrates on Italy. If Austrlia didn't play Italy 4 years ago nobody would care. And by the wayGrosso's foot was held end of story and guys it 4 years ago.. Fucking get over it you sooks

  • Kewell was injured for the game and Italy dives quite a bit but so do other teams.

The fact that Grosso fell over him is fine but the fact that he starts to roll around in pain like a baby is just bullshit though and you have to be blind to not notice how fake his injury is.

Watch Ivory coast's dive against Brazil.

Not to mention the fact that Australia has poor luck in World cup's such as Kewell been red off for having a ball hit his shoulder when his eyes were closed.

  • it was a foul shut up and suck italys dicks already

  • @MCBreakDown They dont. We only had 1 penalty that tournament, which was this goal. Its not a dive, Neill holds down Grosso's foot. Since he is making contact with Grosso before touching the ball its a penalty.

  • Look at the left hand of Neill...

  • REMEMBER Spain that score in offside against portugal and the regular gol disallowed of paraguay.. 0-0, 1-1....

  • REMEMBER red card to Materazzi for a tackle on Zambrotta!!!

    AUSTRALIANS SHUT UP!!

    ITALY * * * * 4 World Cup

    ENVIOUS!!!!!!!

  • The Italians are the most pathetic players in the world. Unless they cheat they can't even make it out of the group stage.

  • @asmitty1979 stated the folow:

"... Unless they cheat they can't even make it out of the group stage."

In 2006 if the Italian team would have needed to cheat in order to get the world cup they certainly did not need to cheat against Australia.

Italy : 7 games, 12 goals for, 2 goals against.

Australia: 4 games, 5 goals for, 6 goals against.

Keeping in mind that the three game difference were played against the best of 2006

  • Actually guys you are all fucking arguing on pointless issues. Tell me why Grosso got the chance to get this close to the goal anyway. This happened a lot during this game. If Australia played so well then Italy should not have even gotten close to the goal throughout the whole game but watching the game in detail and in full Italy dominated pretty much the whole game. And another point on this matter, the point of 4 years, Harden the fuck up and get over it

  • YEAH UM ALL U AUSSIE CUNTS WAT BOUT RECENTLY IN THAT BOXING FIGHT THAT AUSSIE GUY JUST FELL TO THE FLOOR U HYPOCRITES

  • That F***KING ITALIAN RETARD FULL ON STAGING!!!

  • Face it you just can't beat the Italian Stallions

  • Penalty my ass!!!

  • this is a fair penalty. jealus italt-haters. stop eating pizza, stop wearing nice clothes, stop watching nice models and stop eating good icecream if you hate italy!

  • @oeyvind93 pizza was invented by Greeks ... just saying

  • @PeterEQUALSawesome "Considered a peasant's meal in Italy for centuries we cannot say who invented the very first pizza pie. Food historians agree that pizza like dishes were eaten by many peoples in the Mediterranean including the Greeks and Egyptians."

  • @oeyvind93 touche

  • there was contact why is lucas neil sitting there like a piece of shit ofcourse ur gonna get a penalty i agree with black prince australia is shittttttttttt

  • Grosso is unhindered. It is penalty.

  • @ilCanaledeiMondiali Lucas Neill has his left hand on Grosso's foot. I call that tripping.

  • @arang0314 Thank you. Finally someone else sees the truth.

  • @MCBreakDown mate look at the video lucas niel fabio grosso penalty was there contact then tell me what you think

  • @MCBreakDown agreed..

  • @MCBreakDown i got 1 question for u was there contact

yes its a penalty italy 2006 fifa world champions

    end of story

  • @MCBreakDown the official fifa rule in the box if there is contact with the player before the ball it is a penalty. like you and all the dumb ass skips dont know the rules you make your second world cup and think you can play with the big boys fuck you and stop fucking winging

  • ITALY is out of the world cup. Laughing my fucking arse off. I was right all along. What a bunch of sooks! Proves 2006 was a fluke

  • yeh mate a teams world championship isnt a fluke

  • @damod15 Aussie got more points that Italy in 2010. That's laughable! Italy's no 1 sport. Australia's 8th sport.

  • @AndyG1678

You're right but in 2006 the Italian team was hot allowing only 2 goals in 7 games. The Australian team held Italy to a single goal compared to two for Germany.

  • cheaters...

  • Italy vs Germany. 2-0. smacked Germany at home. Italy sucks?

  • @hatetheromance So what, Germany won the world cup on italian soil in 1990.

    It's even.

  • ALBERTO GILARDINO IS THE BIGGEST CHEAT AND DIVER IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL. WHAT A FUCKING CHEAT!

  • @AndyG1678 hahaha yeah i know. but it's why i like the team. each to their own i guess.

  • The fall was due to Neill holding the Italian's foot. Otherwise he would have had a one-on-one with the goal tender. No one throws away a clear break on goal and opts for an unknown referee's decision. The Italian was clearly trying to regain his balance after the initial contact. Just look at his arms.

  • i wonder what those cunt australians would say if it had happend to them.....

  • This italian team did the same BS to the Kiwis. I cant stand them. I played with these guys in collegel... falling all over the place. when the hell is FIFA going to get its head out of its ASS and red card these guys and give the penalty the other way. Thats two world cups in a row these cheaters did this.

  • @GuildD695 it's an artform called 'furbizia', basically taking advantage of a situation. it's within the rules and italy excels at it. it's not cheating.

  • @snakemagic With so much acting skills on display with the Italian team, they should be in skirts. Everyone is talking about them in the media.

  • @AndyG1678 it's the way italian's play. they take advantage of stupid weaknesses on the other team. they're cunning and smart and it wins matches. it is not cheating.

  • @snakemagic I have never seen a Serie A or Italian league or international match invovlving Italy when they have not dived, rolled over like sissies or actually won a game on their skill or ability. Brazil - now that's a classy outfit!

  • @AndyG1678 italy and france and portugal play completely different to spain and brasil, but it doesn't mean one method is better. in my opinion the latter have more spirit, and make the match more interesting to watch. it becomes more intellectual. australia could never be cunning so hence they're obviously jealous. OBV.

  • @snakemagic *the former i mean

  • Comment removed

  • all diving aside, that was an embarrassing slide by Neill. There was no way the ref could have called it a 'dive' without facing scrutiny. I agree with the commentary that it's 'controversial'. I think yeah, maybe he dived, but nothing can be done abt it

  • and Italy is not!! a western civilization there not even in the G20 at least we are

  • @KANDE893 what the fuck are you talking about, retard? italy are in the g20. and their economy shits over your pathetic "economy".

  • @snakemagic I bet the Australian economy is stronger than the Italians. At least we have our own currency. Are you Italian? Then why does your profile say Norway. Italy is that good that you have to live in Norway. Just as bad anyway! LMFAO!

  • Comment removed

  • @KANDE893 let me guess, you've never been out of your shitty boghole, have you? you're one of those people who thinks australia is THE BEST COUNTRY ON EARTH, yet you've never been anywhere else? italy has contributed more to this world than your pathetic "nation" with no culture or identity ever will. give italy back it's italian players that play on your ausstralien team, for a start.

  • @snakemagic oh really never been anywhere else i bet ive been to more places then u!

  • @KANDE893 your mother, your father, your brother and your sister's backyards don't count.

  • @snakemagic yea i knw but oh wait thats only as far as u been awwwwww how sad

  • Comment removed

  • @AndyG1678 personally, the eradication of jews is a good thing. have you seen what israel is doing to the world?

  • pfft italy cant even beat new Zealand so im pretty sure there the joke

    so fuck italy

  • @KANDE893 look at italy's history - the always do poorly in group stages. a couple of years ago they didn't win a single game in the group stage but then went on to win the cup.

i really used to like the australian team but the attitude of the fans and media makes me revel in their sweet crushing demise.

  • @snakemagic No one likes Italy. Everyone knows they are the worst at diving. Why do you waste time making comments on here. It's obvious! Try watching a match one day. Oh when Italy get knocked out. I will repeatedly write on this topic to prove my point.

  • @AndyG1678 furbizia baby. italy rocks at it, haters are just going to hate.
