@danwormald i don't use a tarp, but if you want it to cook faster, being able to regulate how wet the pile gets does matter. you want it moist like a damp sponge, not totally soaked.
but a tarp may invite mice and whatever to take up residence, not sure if you want that. thx, eric.
I like the simplicity of this. I may make one of these for my mom when I back in the US. However, I may make it latch together so she can open it and turn it the compost with a shovel. Other things people do to get air down in there is to run a tube - bamboo works perfect if you live in an area w/ bamboo or you could use PVC pipe - and drill some holes in it. Run it down the center and then air can get in to the center and it'll break down quicker.
i came across this in a good time because now i am doing my senior project on organic gardening and you gave me a idea thank ya and i done got what i needed to
I might need to purchase a ball to throw.... but then I might also need a dog to fetch it.... but I believe I have the rest I need to build the compost bin ;)
hi does this need a tarp over it or a shelter

I'm going to make a few of these in the spring and put my grass clipping in them :).
Currently January 3 :(.
But yeah, I'll probably make around 10 :).

Love the noise the leaves make, the snapping of the stapler gun. But the dogs make the video.

I have a compost bin similar to yours. I love it and it works amazingly well and was dirt cheap too. :)
I know where I went wrong though. I didn't throw the ball! LOL. Love the dogs!
