Blanco ADMITTED on a hot mic that she had NOT asked for help. What she "meant" is not what she SAID. For her to blame President Bush and FEMA, it's simply SHAMELESS on her part. She screwed up, and even when she's asked 10 times "When did you make THAT request?"... she REFUSES to answer the question. HELLO??? How much more proof do you need?
@sambaran14 Well, if it wouldn't have cost REAL people so much and she weren't the person chiefly responsible for the inaction and horrific response time as governor of this state it might be excusable, but what happened affected my fellow Louisianians, many of whom were my family members. It goes with the territory. She knew this all too well when she ran for office. It's laid out clearly what her responsibilities are as governor of this state in our state constitution.
Blanco didn't do crap! I bet she didn't even really ask the President frist thing on the phone for help. I'm from Louisiana and I'm disgusted by this.
@SanaLovesMahado1 AMEN!! Blanco has issues!! She never EVER asked for federal troops. SURE...this is a bunch of crap! It says "she didn't think she needed troops". yea right. Tell that to all of the families that have been ripped apart. all the culture that is lost. all the homes that are gone.
by law the president can not send troops into a sate w/o the governors request. the feds have given La. billions to help those in need and blanco wont release the money to those who need it. blanco should be shot!!!

As Michael Brown said, Bush's political operatives framed Blanco. And now a great woman has been the victim of a partisan smear. Republicans will do anything to win an election, even if it includes the destruction of an entire city.
State Sovereignty supercedes Federal Authority until the governor of such state surrenders such authority. This is backed up in the Louisiana State Constitution under Governors Duties, as well as the 10th ammendment to the US Constitution. Ignorance sure is bliss though.
