I always picture this song to be about a very lonely person who wants to live in a dream. Syd has got the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. RIP Syd, though I'm sure you must be somewhere in another dimension.
Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett had one of the most beautiful minds I've ever had the privilege of even glimpsing. He was tremendously and beautifully brilliant and had such inspirational creativity that he not only heavily inspired the Beatles, Bowie, and Nirvana just to name a few as well as most every Floyd album up until Waters left but he truly changed the world of music as we know it! The world rarely ever gets the chance to experience a mind like Barrett's. Shine on you magnificent diamond RIP.
That was a lovely video and one of the prime songs to celebrate his short (mentally healthy) life. Britain wouldn't have had real psychyellia without him.If lsd wasnt invented we would still have him today.
the original crazy drug addict rock star artist. all of those Marilyn Mansons, Nikki Sixs, and Kurt Cobains that followed would be nothing without this guy.
not all music sucks today..people need to learn how to separate the mainstream from the art back then the art was mainstream now it isn't you have to look for it
I've allready see some YT tributes to Syd, but this one is the best: Plays the wonderfull "see emily play" complete + beautyfull images with syd (some of their best photos, i presume). Great 'sychedelic 60's 3minutes view!!! Tanx. Francisco

what happened to *flylock55* the unofficial pink floyd channel? they suspended it and i couldnt watch their amazing syd barrett tribute. syd barrett had the best 1960's music.
I'm glad I missed the acid sixties!! The seventies and eighties were far less out there!!! When we traveled in the car as kids we always gave the hippies peace signs, meanwhile my dad in his crewcut hissing, "damn happies... hahaha
.... you have a big idea for urself.. "This I think is the first tribute video to appear on You Tube after his death was announced in the media, and also the first to not use the obvious choices of 'Wish You Were Here' or 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond"........Cheers...
Syd's story is truly sad due to the fact he was a great lyricist if you could compare it to anyone, I call him the British version of the late Jim Morrison, truly the visonarry that would lead to the worlds greatest rock band and wrote some truly mind blowing songs
One hit of acid too much...fortunately, I quit just before what happened to Sid, happened to me. Very good tribute video..love the song. xxoo Foobles.
Yeah greatvideo tnx for posting it. Syd is in my opinion one of the biggest wasted talents,he could have done such a lot of awesome music in his life.He is for sur ebigger talent thet Gilmour or Waters.Shine on Syd.

Great video and great song. Shine on, you crazy diamond. It's a shame the remaining members of the band can't put their differences behind them and stay together (although, now they're in their 60's, so it's a moot point by now). So many more years of phenominal music, wasted because of bickering. It's sad.
Syd Barrett, o homem da minha vida, perfeito!!!
I love you Syd Barrett, you were supposed to be my husband, like we were before, in our past life, the only man for me.
Nice job. The sad reflection of itself that Pink Floyd is now, coupled with the childish bickering of the remaining members is a poor legacy to the rampant creativity and uniqueness they once held, both with Syd and for some time afterward. R.I.P. Syd: wherever you be, we hope you find peace.
Rest in peace you crazy diamond! I guess if there is a lesson to be learned about the life of Syd it must be to stay away from LSD especially if you have early synmptoms of skidzophrenia.
Excellent choice of music. I think Emily is a masterpiece. As a kid in the 70s, I was into the later Floyd. After learning about "the other guy," "the original guy," I wanted to check it out and I must say, the stuff with Syd was very uplifting and happy sounding compared to the 70s Floyd. Songs like Apples & Oranges, Arnold Layne, Emily, etc.. I consider that the REAL sound of the Floyd. RIP Syd
I remember the day I heard he'd died. I was with a good friend and fellow floyd head, we was sitting there smoking some funky green shit, and we heard the news, we was heartbroken, but both glad we was in the company of eavh other to stop us blubbering and so we continued to smoke like hell for the rest of the day. Haven't acually stopped yet.
Sends chills up my spine to hear See Emily Play after so many years. Nice work here. Good and loud sound. Great pictures. When I was at Penn State many years ago I was playing When The Madcap Laughs. A student living across the hall was mesmerized. "Who is that?" he asked. I gave him a brief music history lesson on the history of Pink Floyd. A week later he was playing Syd Barrett too.
YES! Syd, Roky Erickson and even Peter Green were all GORGEOUS when they were young, before mental illness and all the woes that accompany it dragged them on a downward spiral. With his brother's loving care, Roky has pulled himself together and now looks(and SOUNDS) BETTER than he has in YEARS(STILL has his head FULL of dark hair too)but sadly Peter and Syd never were able to make the recovery Roky did.

The gesture at 1:54 says a lot about him I think. Men very rarely have such soft, fragile body-language. He must have been very sinsitive and fragile.
