Just because it's a 'drummer of the year' competition doesn't mean he has to play without any means of pocket or distinction of style. I know enough about drums and percussion to know he doesn't have the means to play at that tempo. For example, 1:57 - if you can't play doubles this fast without crushing them, don't.

Not a big fan of the double bass. Takes more talent in my opinion to create a good groove with one pedal. Shouldn't need that extra sixteenth or duple on the bass. He's pretty good though.
