Ignorant people never like changes and Dylan turning electric in '65 was the biggest one that could happen: it was the last wall falling. When "Highway 61 Revisited" came out everybody woke up: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Byrds...You could really go out in the road and yell: "The times they're a-changing".
This is real music. This should be the music of our generation today. I'm ashamed of the music that's out today. I wish it never was released. But this...... this is real, true music.
@rockliveson69 There is tons of great music out today. The difference is that you used to be able to hear great musicians on the radio. Amazing music was easily accessible. Now days it's still there, but it's not on the radio. Good creative musicians exist in the underground and on the independent labels in current times.
@rockliveson69 The National, Gorillaz, Beirut, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, Bright Eyes, The Antlers, The Clientele, Yeasayer, Fleet Floxes, and the list goes on; plus Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are all still around.
@giostoria To add to this list: Against me, the Taxpayers, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Johnny Hobo, Wingnut Dishawashers Union, Ramshackle Glory, Laura STevenson, Bomb The Music Industry, Neutral Milk Hotel. I'm kind of drawing a blank, those are just a tiny fraction of great bands out today.
@giostoria you know what i mean, the bands that you mentioned are really good bands still out, but artists like Lady GaGa and all of them are just terrible.
@TheNekoParty since you ask ima gonna tell you! i use to romp with her and now that shes kind of popular she wont even have anything to do with me. one of these days she will comeback crawling on her knees
@TheNakedQuack erghh, it the early 60's dylan had a sort of godlke-status in the folk-music world, and switching to electric guitar to them as betrayal, so the cunts screamed "judas" at him
when these shows were booked they were expecting a solo dylan, and tickets were sold as a bob dylan concert, not bob dylan and the hawks, back then it was just word of mouth that had just barely reached england, and times they are a-changin had reached 5 on the charts in england at this time.
Dude, its easy to look back from today and call them 'cunts' but back then it was a massive deal. Try to view it in context; the 'peoples folk-hero' going electric was seen as a major shift toward the 'mainstream' (perceived then as sellout) culture. Its no wonder people were passionate about the whole thing. Give them some slack! lol
A small insult for the man, and a great
fucking answer for humanity.
