  • Absolutely amazing! Favorited. By no means is my comment unique but I can't resist:

"Was that the primary buffer panel? Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram Mars lander for no gorram reason?"

    "...looooks like..."

"*click*This is mission control speaking. The lander might encounter slight turbulence and then...explode."

  • NASA Mission control: What was that over??

Phoenix Lander:Mission control this landing is gonna get pretty interesting!

    Mission Control: Define INTRESTING Over.

Phoenix Lander:Oh God OH GOD were all gonna die??

Ah just had to say that little bit of dialogue great video Manning!!

  • Every time I watch this I cry a little.

  • Shiny

  • That was awesome!! Great music and video =)

  • Meanwhile in NASA's control room, in Houston:

    "What was that?"

  • Dude... f'ing beautiful.

  • @iphoria Great comment! :) Thanks!

  • Dude, just got chills from this. LOVE IT! Sharing.

  • @CortexNewsService Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • Combining two of my favourite things! NASA and Firefly!

    Awesome video!

  • @CanadianRunner I love space stuff, and I love Firefly/Serenity, so it seems like a natural fit. I don't know much about space stuff, but I think it's cool anyway. Thanks for the compliment.

  • The MRO was able to image the Phoenix site recently. Unfortunately, the results were as expected. The martian winter and the condensed CO2 ice has collasped the solar panels on the lander. So no round two like we had for the rovers. But what we have learned from just this one site has made it worthwhile. Water Ice! The possibility of life keeps looking more and more like probability. Hope I live long enough to see it.

  • Brilliant.

  • Brilliant!

The fade to black at the end is perfect for the last words of Serenity, too...

  • @KazigluTepes Thank you!

  • See what free men can do...

  • Well, that synched up nicely. How much cutting did you have to do to make it fit the music?

I was just waiting for a panel to fly off the lander, and a bewildered "What was that?" Does Kaylee Frye work for NASA?

  • @MrRazorz I really should have added that. Good idea!

  • Awesome video bro nice one.

  • Thanks for all the great comments. I put a link to a high quality download in the description area. It's an MPG download that is 42mb for those interested. The sound and picture quality is much better!

  • well done sir. Hope you make more videos of this type in the future.

  • It's been three months since I last watched this, and it's still absolutely amazing!

    I love it to bits!

  • Thanks!

  • the movie was so cool !

  • At the very end, I couldn't help but add a mental, "What was that?" XD

  • I just fully realised lol we i mean humans have sent somthing we built all the way to another world lol right now human tech is sitting there...go us! ^_^

  • Wiki the Opportunity Rover and have a look at the pic of it as seen from the Mars Recon. Orbiter. It's operated on Mars for over 5 years, and that may be the first picture of an interplanetary craft, as seen from another interplanetary craft. glorious

  • @orkzmichael You do know that we have sent spacecraft way further then mars, right?

I think it was in the 70's that we sent the "voyager 1" spacecraft into space, and it actually went out of out solar system! It's a shame that we aren't developing our space technology nearly as much as we should, so that one day we might terraform other planets, just like they did on Firefly!

  • @FutileFreak One day mate. when the space programs fix themselves. its a real shame nasa shut down

  • @orkzmichael Yea... and even if humanity will fade into a pile of rubble, someone maybe finds that tech on mars, and looks up: "It came from there? o.o"

  • @orkzmichael It is awesome, but i bet all the martians were like "wtf?"

  • Thank you! I appreciate everyone's comments. I hope to mix something else in the near future. Hopefully it will be as well received.

  • Can it be something from Final Fantasy VII? Or any of Nobuo Uematsu's music.

  • Always a possibility! I do like a lot of FFVIII music.

  • Nicely done...

  • Amazing! It fits perfectly!

  • Good timing and tempo. Like it was written for it.

  • absolutely amazing!

    OMIGOSH! That was incredible!

    Dude... I salute you!

  • Nice mix job.

  • Maybe my great grandchildren will look up and see a Firefly-class in the sky...

  • I sure hope so. :)

  • @Soder96: Why wait that long!

  • Is this an extended version of the Serenity theme? Or is it the one they used for Firefly? I have the Serenity soundtrack and the track I have that resembles this one is only 52 seconds long

  • This piece is in the end credit music.

  • I mixed 3 songs. The first two I meshed together at 0:48 (hopefully making it sound like 1 song instead of 2). The second mesh comes in at 1:53.

I believe the 3 mixed are Serenity, End Credits and Love from the sound track.

  • @ManningTrance yeah funy enough i got the sound trac and cold not find this song... because its 3 songs lol so nicly done! VERY GOOD!!!!!

  • Wow, what a beautiful vid! The music matches the vid perfectly.

  • Wow, I had to watch it 5 times! Excellent mix.

  • Thanks for the compliment!

  • Great and a very great score.

  • That was a hella cool vid you made perfect music with the perfect footage :)

  • Wow. Where did you get the Mars footage? The scenes you used certainly seemed to match the artistic style of Serenity.

  • I'm pretty sure I found it here on Youtube. Just came across it one day and thought it resembled the Firefly/Serenity look.

  • very good nice choice with the serenty soundtrack

  • I may try to find my files for this and upload a higher quality version now that YouTube has that option. Hopefully it will all expand to HD format ok.

  • The only thing I can add to that is to add the roar of re-entry from the movie. Maybe edit it so that the "whang" of the primary buffer panel coming off matches the drop from the aeroshell? LOL, "What was that?"

  • The music fits perfectly with all of what's going on in the video. Very beautiful.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks very much for the comment.

  • @ManningTrace: Very much my pleasure. As a TV show Serenity may not be coming back, but we can still draw inspiration from it and be Big Damn Heroes ourselves. Stay shiny!

  • You called it. Music and video do match up very well. The Camera movement and angles even suggest Serenity style video movements. I think your subconscious did a little leg work there and put two and two together and figured out they were similar. Nice job. Like I said, good call.

  • Thanks! I think you're right about the camera movements being Serenity-like.

  • here's an idea.

u should make a vid of this music with the animation of the new moon that on youtube. it would look great.

  • I'll take a look at that and possibly tackle it. :)

  • If you get a chance sometime, link the video you're talking about. Thanks.

  • Beautiful dude. the music and song look like they were made for each other!

  • Thanks! I was really glad they ended up fitting together so well.

  • what was that green light that was shooting up at the end of the video?

  • I guess it is supposed to be the transmission of data. I'm not sure.

  • @blinkfan87: That's a suspended particle test. Laser fires and some is reflected back to a sensor on the spacecraft deck. How much light is refected back is proportional to the amount of dust in the air.

  • this music is so beautiful... fits the video well :)

    good job man.

  • Thanks, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

  • that fit way to nicly great job!~

  • Thanks!

  • :26 was awesome. great job.

  • Thanks! That part was fun to edit.

  • Yeah, that all fit beautifully. You've got quite the musical eye!

  • That's for the nice comment!

  • I meant "thanks". :P

  • and ear ha

  • what's the name of the song you are using in this video?

  • I used 3. Serenity, Love and End Credits. I mixed Serenity and End Credits for the first song so it sounds like it is one song.

  • That was a brilliant idea and good job catching how well the vid and music matched up

  • Thanks Lupin!

  • im agreeing with lupin here, absolutely brilliant

  • Thank you Sichosi!

  • love it

  • Nice vid, works really well together.

  • wow! very well done. i especially like how smoothly you mixed the songs. at first i thought there was a longer version of the first piece (which is my favorite firefly song btw) that i had to find ;) great timing with the laser, too.

  • Thanks Cal. It was fun making this. Glad you liked the timings. I wish there was a longer original song! That's why I pieced the two together because there isn't anywhere (that I know of).

  • Combining Serenity music (about freedom) and NASA video (about total control by government) doesn't work for me.

  • Every NASA project is exactly the opposite of Firefly/Serenity. It's the government doing something, not free people. (If you think US citizens are free people, read the Bill of Rights and read court judgments that give the Homeland Stupidity Department anything they fucking want). (KGB translated best as Motherland Security).

  • Going a little deep man. :)

Space is freedom no matter how you view it, and Serenity was all about that. Even that is going deeper into it than I intended.

All I did was combine some music to a vid, I wasn't trying to "mean" something. I just thought the video itself and the song(s) themselves worked together.

  • youre right it actually fits

  • Thanks Dean!
