  • Great Race. I like the new sho as much as the original that came out in the late 80's. That sho also kept up with pony cars of its time.

  • Oh don't forget that track has a 4' incline but just on the side of the track your running...

  • Dude you are just a dork. I don't care if it was you, your car, the weather or your pussy... You lost pack it up. Chevy wins!

  • Ummmm....wasn't the Camaro with a 6.2L V8 and rear drive supposed to win? And how come it was so close of a race?

  • you lost!PERIOD.Late start or not, that camaro walked you on the top end, they always do!So....the first step in being a MAN,is admitting guilt.Guilty of losing in this case.Second part of bein a MAN....take her home that night, spend more time and money in the garage, ultimately pissing the wife off,and go back and try to whoop some ass!Nuff said!

  • @mattsrepair10

Hey machoman... not a question of being o man or a woman... it is a machine. As I said, I lost, but my car won! My car was faster than that Camaro in terms of elapsed time for 1/8 or 14 mile, but he sure was gaining the more the race was going. If the race was a full mile, I would have been a second behind... Next time, I will make sure my RT is good before I post a video! lol

  • @mattsrepair10 Walked him? If one car length is getting walked. And it's chevy's pride and joy against a Taurus, a FAMILY car. It's pathetic that he didn't walk the taurus

  • Mount that camera, cut a light and beat that SS.

Still a good vid and race!

  • Next time watch the tree and not the other car....jeez!

  • @TheEdgemann 1) That's what I do if I bracket race... When I go test'n tune, I don't care that much about reaction time, I care much about my E.T. In that case, I just wanted to share a race with a Camaro next to me... I hope you enjoyed the video, that was my only purpose of sharing it... But I see it created a debate on who is the real winner, the fastest on the quarter mile time or the fastest on reaction time? With automatic cars, I would say RT depends on the human, E.T. on the car...

  • @steve142857 Agreed! I'm a Ford guy, so I hate to see an L anyday!

  • @TheEdgemann

2 : So, I, as a human, am slower than the guy driving the Camaro, but my car is faster! So, I lose, my car wins... ; )

  • i love these new taurus's, especially the SHO. nice job with ur car.

  • A V6 keeping up with a V8. Also weighing a shit ton more. Props to the SHO!

  • @greendayrules11 V6????o.O

  • @suppaman12 The Taurus is a V6, I hope you know that.

  • @greendayrules11 Lol, i know its a V6, I just wanted to point out you left out the small detail of it having TWIN TURBOS!!!!! :)

  • @suppaman12 Still, a V8 with almost double the displacement and horsepower.

  • @greendayrules11 doesnt matter.... a good example of when a v6 hangs/beats a v8 was when chevys v6 camato hung in there with the 4.6 v8 mustangs. That was emberrasing to say the least. it wasnt untilt the terminator came out that really set shit off

  • @suppaman12 The V6 Mustang is 1 second slower than the SS Camaro. That's embarassing.

  • @greendayrules11 lol dont be retarded, in the quarter mile, 1 second is ALOT!!! dont fool yourself man. Im a Ford fan and I love mustangs but lets stick to facts here buddy

  • @suppaman12 Your calling me retarded? 1 Second is a lot, but a 3.5l V6 with 305 HP, with only about 290 hitting the ground compared to a 426 HP 6.2 V8 can't do better? Why would a Ford man complain about a tank with a V6 with 2 Turbos running beside a SS?

  • @greendayrules11 complain? who the hell is complaining. Im just stating facts. back in the 2000s when GM put a SC and then a turbo on the 4cyl cobalt, they were smoking the V6 mustang and with a little tune would keep up with the v8 mustangs!!!! is it a fair comparison? can we say GMs cobalt was only .5 seconds behind a v8 mustang?!?!?! please dude....

  • @suppaman12 You are complaning, in a way your stating facts but it's like you have hate towards Ford. I like how you say was only .5 seconds behind the Mustang, but what about now? There is no stock Cobalt beating a New 5.0. Dream on.

  • @greendayrules11 YOU just dont get it do you???? I love Ford but I wont blindly back it up against any old claim like you do. Ford has historycially been a fuck up. I just love their pony cars and their trucks. And when I said "only 0.5 seconds" i was mocking you and showing you how foolish it sounds even though it was a much closer race than the sho vs SS. All im saying is dont nutswing because at one point or another both companies are on top and in a few years, it will switch

  • @suppaman12 lol im a ford guy but i like chevy too... you neglect to mention that chevy still has yet to make a pony car capable of walking a terminator factory - factory modded for modded...theres a cop here in hawaii and i''ve played with him a few times with my neighbors 01 SS intake exhaust cam tune... he still walks the ss and he it gives him a better race than the newer camaros lol IMHO the new ones are more show and growl... however i love them ls7s

  • no way

    the ss is modified

  • @HamadHHAG

No way. The ss is modified?

    Or

No way that the ss is modified?

I can assure you it is. I saw the guy playing with his tuner and we were hanging together all day since it was a quiet day at the track... The auto SS have a lot of torque management when they are stock, the tuner mainly remove that excessive torque management and adds timiing. I've never seen or heard of any auto Camaro SS running in the 12's stock. Std = around 13.3 and auto = 13.9, with tune 12.8 is about it.

  • @steve142857 yes it might be

and with all of that i still think the taurus is much better

but you have to use launch control at 5k rpm

and start as much as quicker before the green light and don't stop

and kill the gas paddles and keep the steering wheel balanced well

  • @steve142857 and make sure your tyres is the best type and tyre pressure is fine to do a 1/4 drag

and choose the well size of rims not that bigger rims or so small

don't open the lights because it does effect on the ENGINE

  • I love the taurus ...and that was a really good performance ,,,

  • DAYUM!!!

  • My favorite car bar none, the MB C63 AMG, will spank both of these - especially in the new 480hp version. But, for the money, I'd take the SHO, and finish my basement. Ford has everbody beat in the techno-bang for your buck dept...fo sho!

  • @mykulc

I like the C63 AMG a lot too. However, where I live, AWD is very appreciated. The C63 would win, stock for stock, over the SHO for sure, but only when the weather is not too cold, there is no rain, etc. So, here up North, the SHO would win more than 50% lol. Also, I have raced a stock C63 AMG and he ran 12.77 at 114.3 mph this summer. So my 12.6 at 111mph+ would look not too bad. But a modded C63 would win over a modded SHO... until the meth injection kit is installed hehehe!

  • Twin Turbosssssssss... you lost but you still kept up with him. Who ever thought a TAURUS could be in the same category as a Camaro

  • @NYGIANTFAN1187

«Who ever thought a TAURUS could be in the same category as a Camaro»... Actually, kept up with a modified Camaro... ; ) With my current tune, I run 12.6 at 111+mph, so the video would look different. Soon, meth injection kit will have the SHO flirt with the 11's... I'll be keeping up with Corvettes hehehe... especially on the 1/8 mile. I should run the 1/8 in 7.7 sec.

  • @steve142857 Haha wow, Can you chip the SHO? Im really thinking about buying this car next, The Twin turbos on a 3.5L have me salivating.. I wish it came in a coupe. I have a 12 GTI, just not fast enough for me.

  • @NYGIANTFAN1187

Yes it has a tune. The turbos are really responsive to tuning. However, I keep it reasonable not to have any troubles with the tranny etc. After all, it is my daily driver.

  • @NYGIANTFAN1187 Thats the awesome part, the AWD helps with that to though.

  • new camaros are so shhiit,

  • @MrCodBaller

That is severe comment. Actually, that was a fast Camaro for just a tune. Not many cars priced at around 35-40K$ can run 12.8 sec... And personally, I think they look mean. For sure they are heavy though. Like the SHO is heavy but at least it is because it is spacious, has the AWD and is luxury unlike the Camaro.

  • shut the fuck up u didnt start late just admit defeat

  • @misscurly209

Wow! you are a classy one... no need to insult... Gotta love youtube with all those pussies hidden behind their computer with big words. lol! I never said I won, I just said he had a better reaction time, that's why he finished first.

  • The new Camaro's are too fucking heavy. Not something I can really defend, but given the rushed development of the car and its current selling trend, its not something that I can really call a failure. 13 sec in the quarter for a near 4'000lb vehicle ain't shabby in anyone's book.

Ford has only just now in the last year or so made some cars that are worth a damn since the 1960' and maybe one or two decent vehicles during early 2000, so I dont wanna hear trash-talk from a blue oval flunkie.

  • @originaldriver

You are right. Unfortunately, youtube offers a window for frustrated people that have nothing better to do than trash talk. If ones doesn't like GM, that's ok, but personally I prefer to say that I prefer Ford... no need to try to talk bad about the other car. Just one thing though, the auto. Camaro SS stock (400hp) is closer to 14 sec. than 13 sec... too much torque management. With just a tune to reduce it it drops a lot, that might be the only critic I have

  • @steve142857 I just like raising a bit of dust with the arbitrary "ford bashing". Its fun, its free and it gets me through those boring days.

Everyone on youtube comes to talk smack or be a "keyboard hero". The only difference is Im honest about it.

And yeah, Im a bit frustated with GM for taking an otherwise lightning fast car with an excellent engine and making it heavy as hell. If I wanted a f*cking living room on wheels, Id buy a Winnebago.

Give me "fast" and keep that other sh*t.

  • @originaldriver i will say this the mustangs and camaros are ugly.

  • @1962Galaxie514ciMPFI Ehhhhhhhh no. I aint the biggest Ford fan in the world, but those new stangs look pretty decent. The Camaros are even loads prettier still. Both of those cars strike a pretty side profile.

But beauty is subjective, so Ill leave that to your own discretion.

  • @originaldriver the rear ends on mustangs kill it for me and those aweful plastics around the car, and those skinny ass tires what a joke. the mustang is just an aweful looking piece of shit. the camaro basically the same idea as the mustang. im a ford guy thats why im waiting for the 2014 mustang.

  • @1962Galaxie514ciMPFI I agree about the "skinny tires". The new is built on the current Zeta platform which was originally designed for large sedans. The Camaro is TOO big and TOO heavy. It also has some bad visibility issues and a soft front cradle. Otherwise, I think the looks are killer.

Im really waiting for the 2015 Camaro. Its supposed to be built on GM's new alpha platform that's being used by Cadillac. The car should weigh under 3400lbs! I just hope the Caddy's AWD gets ported over too

  • @originaldriver the wheels are too big for a muscle car and no rubber. ugly!!! but in 2014 for the 50th anniversary ford is releasing the new mustang which will go global, smaller body IRS, weight is to be projected around 3.300lbs, eco boost comes to mustang as an option, and supposedly a Mach1. when it comes out then the new 5.0 motor will be in its rightful place. a small mustang just like the fox bodys, with 420 (factory rated HP) and this lightweight car will be even more faster, cant wait

  • @1962Galaxie514ciMPFI EVEN MORE FASTER !! YAYA

  • I hit it on the highway in a stock jetta and it took the ss a good couple seconds to get by me and pull a bus length lol sad. The new ones are heavy, Id take an f body over a g body any day.

  • Started late... the sun was in my eyes... I got distracted... my mom called... the road was bumpy... He jumped the line... my foot missed the gas pedal... there was a bee in the cab of the car and I had to let him out before I raced... hes got a V8... the green light on my side didn't flash at the same time... my wheel ran over a banana peel and I lost a little traction...

There, I went ahead and gave you a list of excuses to chose from to make thinking of one easier.

  • @originaldriver

Ah... youtube people... All kind of people. It was not a bracket race. The guy was there to try to beat his best time, that was previously to that run close to 13's if I remember correctly... I was there to try to beat my best time as well. So it was personal races, but I filmed it to have a comparison... I didn't focus on the reaction time... not an excuse but the explanation of why it looked at the end that the guy beat me even if my time was better.

  • @originaldriver

...I don't disagree that he was pulling on me at the end, but again, on the quarter mile, I got the better time and he got the best trap speed. That's it, no need of other excuses. Camaros are nice cars, so are Taurus, everybody is happy. Don't get offended if the Camaro was slower to accomplish the distance... it was still fast. ; )

  • @steve142857 Dont mind me... Im just a heckler in the audience. :P

  • Chevy is junk! Their top camaro cant get away from fords middle aged crysis family car LOL

  • @killakdc5 Didnt look like he had trouble beating him to me...

  • @originaldriver Are you serious? Watch the video blind man and you will see. Camaros are complete JUNK!

  • "Started late"!!! Why those who lose always try to find excuses???

  • @DoomDevil

Let's put it this way, my car was faster, but I was slower... Not an excuse, just the explanation why, even if I got a better time, I finished behind. In bracket racing, I would have lost... but I wouldn't have been filming at the same time. When I go to the drag, I like measuring myself to other cars... and sharing with people on youtube, but basically, I go there on test'n tune days and my goal is to have the best E.T. possible.

    Cheers anyways DoomDevil ; )

  • @steve142857 The fact that your holding a camera while doing this, and the guy in the camaro is probably fighting to keep it straight, is pretty funny

  • @brade07 haha the difference between AWD and RWD. You can multi-task while driving in the AWD cars! haha

  • @steve142857 Technically the Camaro is the faster car @ 110 MPH. You were 108MPH. Not that big of a difference but in the drag racing world it is. I am a GM guy myself but I love the new Taurus's.

  • @v10viper04

Technically... that is debatable... When you look a competition of 100M running for the fastest man on the planet, it is the time that matters, not the speed. However, the trap speed does indicate the power of the car and in that matter, the Camaro seems to have more, but again you need to consider the weight of the car etc. At a red light, you don't care about trap speed... so it all depends. One thing for sure, it was a good race wasn't it? Cheers! ; )

  • @steve142857 Debatable in a street race scenario yes I agree. But if it was a street race scenario you might have still lost considering your late start and the Camaro pulled you throughout the video. If you started at the same time on the street it would be a good race regardless though!

  • @DoomDevil

Reaction time aside, he ran the faster time.

  • @EasternAggie

You got it. On test n tunes day, that is the point isn't it? Unless you want to practice your reaction times... I personaly don't really care about RT... many times I go there having in mind to have my best ET and I launch the car with 3 or 4 seconds after the green light, just to figure what is the best RPM to launch... if there is a Hyundai accent beside and I film the run, it would look like the guy beat me, big deal right? lol

  • @DoomDevil you do realize the SHO won right????

  • Is that SHO a AWD or FWD?

  • @MrFordf150xlt its standard AWD

  • I dispise ford.........but i gotta admit i do like the sho

  • @Jeremandre

I think Ford is improving a lot. I think you get better for your money because of its past reputation. But in fact, their reliability, equipment and price puts them ahead of many other companies. Plus, you don't see many SHOs out there. I went to a golf tournament for a foundation and you had BMWs, Audis Mercedes, Lexus, etc. They all looked nice but anonymous... The valets in the parking were all talking about my car how much they liked it... still it's a Ford, that's cool!

  • @steve142857 No doubt man....but volvo helped out with that alot......atleast so i heard

  • @steve142857 I can appreciate your admiration in the "underdog". People associate speed with Camaros and Mustangs( In the "affordable" segment), but it is really great to see a "family" sedan get a makeover. Too bad dodge went more for the muscle aspect, otherwise they could have gone all the way and made a family sedan with fwd and had more success.

  • @Jeremandre i love ford

  • Good race. Sho sounded good.

  • ...now lets go pick the kids up from soccer practice, do some grocery shopping, and maybe catch dinner and a movie. Ford rocks.

  • @210Terranovas

hahaha! Actually, the kids were not in the back, but their car seats were! For the extra 20lbs, I like the look on people's faces when they see the children's car seat installed, it adds to the sleeper's look!

  • i like how the show keeps up with 60 less horsepower, its all about that torque band

  • @rubberwoody

I was faster in terms of time to do the quarter mile, but I had a poor reaction time. However, the auto Cam SS has 400hp instead of 426 when std. But, the guy had a programmer and other mild mods for a total of about 450hp.The SHO is 365hp and 350 lbs stock, but in this race the SHO was not stock. You can add about 100hp and 100lbs with tune, exhaust,CAI.More importantly, it is well tuned so the torque is accessible from 1500 til 6500rpm and the boost of turbos sustainable.

  • @rubberwoody and the awd really helps for traction lol i have a camaro ss and i wish i had awd becuase sometimes my traction is crazyyy

  • funny how a hickmobile(i mean Camaro) almost lost to a family car

  • @mitch9521

It had a better reaction time (I was filming him instead of watching the tree), but he actually was a tenth slower to do the distance.

  • That was a good close race

  • Nice! Family car keeps up with muscle car.

  • @Z28MALO Putting the SHO badge kind of gets rid of the family car attributes. :P Most family cars can't do 0-60 in 5 seconds.

  • @MattHutzell

    they do here in Australia

  • @notsosmartnow Touche'.

  • Whether you had started late or not that Camaro was 1-2 car lengths ahead of you at the end, it pulled away pretty quick.

  • @RobNttBob

I agree, as I said, in bracket racing, he would have won but also, I wouldn't have been filming at the same time and I would have had a better reaction time. In that race, I was filming him and hit the gas when I saw his wheels moving. Still was a close race, but now I would probably be ahead with new tune. Also, that was his best run of that day, he was not very consistent : anywhere between 12.8 and 14 seconds, depending on his launches. ; )

  • no you didn't

  • @saljon8589

Who is your comment addressed to? didn't what?

  • to you. i could have swore you that said you started late

  • @saljon8589

Let me explain : It might not show on the video, but I was about 0.3 seconds slower than him on reaction time. When launching, 0.3 seconds might equal to half a car. But at the end of the 1/4 mile, that same 0.3 seconds equals to 3 cars. Also, his trap speed was 1mph higher than mine, so he was starting to distance me, but at the finish line, he was about 1-2 cars ahead. So in a bracket race, he would have won, but on paper, I was faster by about one tenth. ; )

  • faster in which part, the reaction time or the overall race? if you would have been 0.3 ahead, he would have still pulled ahead by at least half a car length. but, im just judging by the race, though. i don't know much about reaction times.

  • @saljon8589

I completed the 1/4 mile in 12.74 and the Camaro in 12.85. He pressed on the gas pedal 0.03 seconds after the green light and me 0.349 seconds, so 0.346 seconds later than him, which is why I said at the end that I started late. So my car completed the race in a faster time, but he finished first. But if the race was a bit longer, he was driving at 110mph at the end while I was only at 108mph.

With my new tune I am now 12.6 sec at 111mph+, but reaction time is very important.

  • @saljon8589 Reaction time can make all the difference in a race, or well anything really.

  • i love family four sedans that can do work...thas why I have a charger. I never rarely see SHO models. nice looking car

  • I am just wondering, what exhaust do you have installed on the SHO? It sounds very good. Tonythetiger57 from SHOforum.com

  • @tonythetiger57

Thanks. It is night and day compared to factory which we could barely hear. I have deleted the resonator and third cat and put an X-pipe instead, 2.5 tubing, dynomax mufflers and 4.5'' tips.

  • @steve142857 Did you buy that X-Pipe and other parts online? Id be interested in learning a bit more about it, I do not really like the sound of the Corsa exhaust..

  • @tonythetiger57

No, it was custom made. However, my wife finds it too loud and I have to agree that there is some drowning. After driving more than 2 hours in the car, I need a brake... But it is all worth it imo, as it really sounds mean now and it improved the performance as well (combined with CAI and tune)...
