this is one of my favourite songs. I have often sung it myself on karaoke. I think deep down that Karen herself was also lost. Just like the title of the song. She's gone but in her music she lives on godbless you karen .

It was hard for me to believe that both this song and "Superstar" were both Leon Russell songs--2 diametrically opposed musical styles!--but Karen made them her own in grand style. As for it being the best Carpenter song ever, I would only put it on equal footing with "Crescent Noon."
@leslieowen1956 Yes exactly many people do not appreciate how angelic her voice every time she sings .Karen we love you so much .I will carry on your music even in my family when everything is innocent without malice. Karen's voice with her music makes me understand that love for her music was so deeper and being married with it .
Her silky velvety vocals hid her inner discontent in her body image and sadly the world still mourns her passing in 1983. Karen Carpenter left us too soon but her volume of love songs will endure for ages to come!
