I've quite a few friends who think Indian film music sucks big time; when I listen to a song like this, I can only think 'kazhudhaikku theriyuma karpoora vaasanai' and feel pity for them :-)

IMHO the problem with many IR songs is that they have too much of a native flavour, which could be the reason for him not being one of the top composers in Bollywood too...had this not been the case, Bollywood composers would have had to face a much more severe 'Puyal' than 'Isaipuyal' ARR. Nonetheless, IR is my favourite composer....the peace and satisfaction I get on listening to songs like these at night is un-describable.

Hi sjalcapricorn,Lucky us that IR had not gone to bollywood as ARR did now. And anyway you guys had RDB for you.. Souties are lucky that we got to hear both RDB and IR for us. We also love ARR's South and bollywood music at same time. But only few north could listen south music which is/was very rich and happening. We just got double luck and not complaining abt it.

But,if another RDB/ or ARR complement is there in North we would have happily got ARR for us only.

You are correct. It is same song Anand - Milind used in Bhaghi. In fact Anand-Milind duo were running their shop by lifting almost all the composition of Illayaraja. Name it any except QSQT, you will find Illayaraja's trademark in them.

Ilayaraja and A.R Rahman is very best Composers but still I believe Ilayaraja composing is wounder full because Raja's all songs are every green and heart touch songs but Rahuman's very few songs are good but not heart touching songs

Illayaraja songs are better to hear because of the orchestra. He never used any technology where as ARR uses a lot of autotunes.. That is the reason old melodies are more soothing and you don't get bored of listening.. Where are the newer song have more of technology used in them and looses their sheen in just after few hearing.

I am happy that KB could give any more hits after duet..his poi , kalki everything sucked big time ..parthale paravasam was one crap. In the past 15 years he has not been able to give any good or even average movies…serves him right for ditching IR …..and IR is still going strong…and where have Bharathi raja and K.Balachander gone…They are not able to give movies to this generation but IR still serves music and we are still baffled by his genius

The last movie of IR and KB...KB manipulated IR in this movie...and this movie split IR and KB...KB was the man responsible for the split of MR and IR since KB was the producer of Roja...till thalapathi IR was the MD for MR...Though I have gr8 regads for KB, I dont apprecaite him for what he did to IR. I am not depreciating ARR. After IR left him KB could not give any sensible movies after puthu puthu arthangal..vaname ellai was ok ...duet was fine...but after that ?

Illaraja deserve to be known than what now he is. In my view he should be in the world top 10 music genious list ever. He has 1000 numbers of song composed, takes very less time to compose a song, he can compose song with out any music instrument(with pen and music sheet) "MUSIC LEGEND".
