I've wanted to play bagpipes for sometime now and god knows i've done my share of research on the right method/pipes. How do you like these practice pipes? With regardsto the chanter, is it meant to be detached and used solely as a practice chanter at times? or is that something you just found you could do? also, how quality are they?
@CAGUITARIST2 actually it is advertised that you can separate the chanter and mouthpiece and use it like that. the pipes are awesome. gotta be careful with the drones though cause they are easy to bend, and once bent, they are impossible to tune. overall quality is pretty good. worth the purchase if you are just learning.
Did you start learning with these practice pipes or did you start with a practice chanter ? I don't know which way is better in order to start, I hope you'll can help me =)
actually with practice pipes you can take the mouth piece off and the chanter peice to make a chanter. I think its easier to start on a chanter,. and once you get a song down it sound better on the practice pipes.
Hey there! those pipes sound nice. good playing. I am currently looking to get a set of practice pipes ( i just learned about them) so i can practice indoors with our killing my neighbors with the GHB (i live in apartments). How loud would you say those things are eh? I'm hoping that I might be able to play with them some other people and their instruments as well...
best think for you (being a piper already) and wanting to play acoustic with other people would be a set of Kitchen pipes, they have a little more depth and volume to them, made ether by Piper's choice or Bagpipes Galore, although I think Piper's choice makes the original. Hope this helps and is still relevant to you, hahah.
I'm learning the pipes myself, and it's very useful to see vids from others who are just starting. It is much easier for me to see what you are doing, than to watch someone playing tunes much faster. Thank you so much for posting this video!
Yeah I love them! they're great for playing with other people in pubs and stuff! I almost like the sound Better than GHB! Almost! An awesome practice tool and instrument all around!
How did you manage to learn tunes? Im really having bug trouble. More specifically I mean applying the scale that you would learn at the beggnining and remember the exact positions at the same time look at the music. Also, I dont get the musical readings. Any advice?
seek out a local pipe band if you are serious, or Use either the college of piping tutor books/cd-roms or the piping centre ones to help lead the way, otherwise its down to regular practice
good job but dont use the tips of your finger on your top hand

Keep it up, nice work sofar! But keep in mind to practise the tunes real slow. That's the only way to get a relaxed play style.

Does it mean you can take off the piece where are your fingers and the mouth piece in order to clip them together and make a practice chanter ?
Jonathan26150Die 2 years ago
Yes, It means exactly that. pretty neat huh?

I think the practise chanter is cheaper and a good way to learn.
