  • wish my savage 110 had that camo....I love it!

  • i like the scope how much was it and what kind of knife was that in your pocket.

  • @slipknot3476 300 bucks and it is a spyderco endura clip it w/plastic clip , which they don't make anymore so if u find one on ebay buy it. Won't scratch a car like the new ones if you rub up against it.

  • I ve heard this is a pretty good range gun but would you reccomend it for hunting? is the weight an issue at all?

  • @akkwilly 60 yards no. Open field yes. Weight not an issue if your going to sit(same as varmint contour 22-250). As a matter of fact the rifle is a VS SS. I like it but I am a big boy. I can shoot the m107 and the m99 offhand and I dont know any one else who can or will do that. I love hunting with something that can hit a crow at 4-500 yards just in case I get board or need to win a bet. I will say I am building a 6.5 in a sporter contour for my stand in the woods.

  • @akkwilly I took my suppressed 5R hunting this last year in NE and it performed beautifully. It was getting a bit heavy walking streams etc. but was what I needed to take my two deer (~450 and ~490 yards). If you don't mind wanting to cut off your arms at the end of the day, it's an excellent hunting rifle. A stock rifle without the suppressor, MK4 scope, or AI mags would probably weigh a bit less than mine.

  • Super sniper scope?

  • @Juice56107 What about it? Tasco military contract over run. Only available through SWFAcom.

  • @skirtchaser79 I have a 16x SWFA SS in Badger rings/mount on my 5r as well. Easily could've gotten away with a 10x, but I like the magnification.

I shot my best group ever this past summer with it: 5-shots, 173gr SMK (118LR), zero modifications to rifle (not even a trigger adjustment), off a Versa-pod bipod, laying prone in about 75% humidity at dusk, dead calm. 300 yards exactly, .76 inches according to digital micrometer.

    I'm keeping the gun.

  • @Juice56107 Easy tiger I'm not gonna give you shit about it. I know its an awesome scope for the money and it was awarded a navy contract. I was just asking if it was a super sniper as I plan on putting one on a 5r I just drosed yestureday until I save up for a nightforce. Oh and swfa bought the rights from tasco so the new ones are swfa scopes now, Great shooting brother, stay safe.

  • very nice vid me likey

  • what kind of paint did you use for your gun and how is it hangin' in ther? thanks bud

    patrick

  • Duracoat and its holding up great just dont use it on the butler creek flip ups, it wont stick very well.

  • what kinda optics do you have mounted on your 5r?

  • Tasco Super Sniper 16x. On a budget since I had my daughter. You can bash it all day if you want but for the money you wont find a better 1000 yard scope. I have a Leupold mark 4 lrt on my 50 but I bought it before she was born. We were shooting clay birds at a thousand yards in Texas and I had no problems seeing them on a dark background.

  • Is your 5r 100% stock? Just baught one.Gonna have the action trued up.I`ve thought about going with a douglas 4r barrel.Mind you I haven` shot it yet...Am I getting ahead of myself? Is this gun really that much of a straight shooter stock?

  • Yes it is stock the only thing I did was put a rifle basix trigger and a PSS stock on it but the new ones come with it already, That to me would be a complete waste of money. You can get a SPS for 450 bucks and do all that. Buy some mil surplus ball, shoot clean, shoot clean,40 times or so. then get you a box of federal gold medal match 175 grain. It should be less than .5 moa. If it shoots Buy some Sierra Match Kings and some Varget. I have talked 5 guys into buying one and they all shoot.

  • You are right Skirtchaser!!! They are shooters. How many grains of Varget are you using? I am currently using 42g...pushing 175 SMK's 2515fps....same hole at 100yards.

  • I would try to push them at 2620-2680 at 65 degrees but with varget temp shouldn't matter that much. So about 43-43.5 grains. Most of my loads with Varget were about 44.5 but I switched to pulled down RL15. I would watch the primers and the chrono or until the groups open up but that probably wont happen. All my loads make the primer slightly flat with the firing pin mark slight raised around the dent from the pin but thats all up to you,I dont want to be that guy that told you to blow up your5r

  • Also watch for a stiff bolt on opening on a cooler day because on a hot day you might do some damage. But mine Loves M118lr witch is about 2680 at muzzle for me and those primers are pretty flat. I could email you a pic if you want. send me your email.

  • Oh yeah make sure you torque the stock bolts an 65 in/lbs

  • Thank You for the information and input

  • You would probably NOT be getting the best value by doing that....A lot of people would LOVE to get the 5r rifling in a barrel...so you would be spending money on a barrel you don't need to replace...better to have it trued/blueprinted...DEFINITELY bedded and put in another stock if you want to go nuts...maybe a trigger job, but probably not necessary...and flatten the appearance for fun or work...

  • Hey buddy thank you for your input.Since my original post.I`ve added a Nightforce 5.5-22* 56 scope.A Badger bolt knob and a APA Little Bastard muzzle brake.Going for a Jewell trigger next month(March). Also thinking about having all steel done in OD green cerakote

  • I gotta find me a a pit or shooting land like that, the only range I can go to costs 20$ a day!

I like the camp, what did you use to give it that hexagon pattern all over?

  • Dont understand what your asking.

  • Camp? sorry for the typo, I meant to say camo, what did you use to get the hexagonal(?) pattern? I assume netting of sorts?

  • Netting from walmart. I seen a guy use lace before and it looked like an exotic snake skin pattern, I might try that on the next one.

  • Thanks, Might try it on parts on my 5R, not likin the factory look that much.

  • does this have a 5-r rifled barrel?

  • Yes, 1 in a 11and 1/4 twist same as the m24

  • Sounds great....

  • Let me know next time you go and I'll go, or take the HD cam.

  • Rocks every where to hide behind next time going to try and synchronize two cameras with bipods and more distance.

  • Thats one sweet looking range. Sounded like you didn't have a breath of wind that day, easy to confirm every hit.

Brave camera man or was he hiding behind a berm of some sort?
