Thanks for posting this, always loved the Fans album, great to see process behind it..
...but..
..is that Angie Stone singing?! I'm sure it is; so weird to think that I'd always wondered what had happened to that amazing vocalist and I'd been listening to her all the time..
@motbofress It was angie stone you know, I am almost sure of it, she was working with Sugar Hill at the time so Its very likely it being after duck rock etc....lol.
Signed in specifically to say that Malcolm is a genius who has been a leading force in the direction of modern music. Love him or hate him ....his musical knowledge and forsight is wicked....Listen to Buffalo girls. madame butterfly to name a few....brilliant...
Entrepreneurial genius of peerless artistic and musical sensitivity and eclectically borderless and unbigoted vision who is continually slandered and ridiculed by industry and public, instead of thanked for the lucrative and respectable mainstream worldwide exposure he gave to Punk, New Wave, World Music and Hip Hop musicians.
Technically not a musician himself, McLaren did the next best thing and searched out performers who could give expression to the creative originality inside himself. More than anyone he is the founder and architect of 21st century popular wired culture, its message, method and medium, more than Lennon, more than Leary, and certainly more than Lydon. Pillory McLaren and you commit hypocrisy and patricide. Malcolm makes money from art. So what? Deal with it.
There are an awful lot of old punk rockers out there who still feel it is somehow their duty to take sides (usually Lydon's) in regard to the Sex Pistols vs McLaren, even though it was all sooo long ago & the vast majority of them neither know or have met any of the Pistols clique.
Malcolm is an integral part of the Pistols' story, the band & their legacy we fans take so much pleasure in would not exist without him so why all the bile & spite? It's not as if Johnny's gonna thank you in person!
Not quite sure which track you mean. Following the theme tune there's the World's Famous Supreme Team doing something about McLaren himself (I don't know if this was just a one off made for the show - he had sampled lots of their work on his previous album ) and following that it's a sample of Madame Butterfly from The Fans album playing in the background.
Very interesting footage. Malcolm McLaren was one of a kind!

Diaghelev of Punk!? He was just a moneymaking opportunist with no musical gifts.
He stole from others and jumped on the bandwagon of musical trends.

Watch a documentary entitled "The Filth & The Fury".
That one documentary film puts this awfully Middle Clarse haberdasher and parasite firmly and permanently in his place.
Reality anyone?
