  • Props to the woman he's interviewing. She gave great, common sense anserws and didn't loose her cool. This guy is the biggest douche. I guess he's trying to be funny, but he sounds like a retarded 5 year old. Then again, I think a 5 year old would have made more sense.

  • I like this guy's questions. Fascinating.

  • wft?????? its not about global warming...........its about free energy...........do you want to pay 4 for a gallon of gas

  • nice video !!!

wish more people would make sutch movies :)

thanks for sharing what driving in the states is like & all :)

if you wanna see whats driving in europe like then watch my opel astra coupe on the road playlist movies :)

thanks for uploading, thumbs up & favoured :)

  • What about people who haveto drive cross country with a big payload like a van full of equiptment and they drive an EV?

That's why i like Shai Agassi's plan for "Better Place". where u can switch out a depleted battery for a new one and keep on going!

  • this guy ask the dumbest qustions somtimes . we all know electric car is a way better choice then a gas car car for commuting .

  • Боже,как здорово! Это замечательное создание и творение ума и рук человеческих!Скорее бы наступил конец легковым автомобилям с двигателями внутреннего сгорания а заодно и нефтегазовым монополистам и олигархам.

  • Why dont you ever show your face Donald (Southerland), I mean "Doug"??

  • Seattle converted their their fleet of 12 prius hybrids to plugins. They report, after 17,000 miles of use, that their average mpg is 51.

    Anyone smell a fish?

  • I can tell you why EVs are so expensive. It's because they're so darn cheap that the companies end up stabbing eachother and destroying the technologies in the process. That's why EVs are so expensive.

  • Hey! You're driving on the 22!

  • i hate when people say oregon wrong.

oregon is sick. we love the eviroment here :)

  • Nice video. How do you feel when a big useless truck like a Ford F350 or Dodge Ram passes by ? I think it's a good feeling to know that they are consuming tens of times more than you and not doing anything more. I agree for offroading and pulling big things they're ok but why does someone buy a Hummer of other car like that only for normal city/highway deriving. A lot of backward minded people have to be convinced to change their way of thinking and behaving.

  • EV IS THE FUTURE !

  • Our Tax dallors should be use to:

    - drive non-profit organizations to build low end hybric-vehicles for communities.

    - drive non-profit organizations to build low end more local banks for communities.

    - drive non-profit organizations to build low maintainent houses/apartments for communities.

  • Btw, is Lisa your wife?

  • The last one minute said it all. "Creating a new industry" indeed! Incentives need to be implemented to kickstart green technology. And the bit about highway departments needing to find money from gas taxes to maintain roads...for starters, in Oregon it costs about twice as much to register an EV. It'd be nice if you could get tax credits for converting an existing gas guzzler to an EV instead of having to buy a new one, like a Xebra or a Tiger Truck or something...or even buying a used EV.

  • Doug did you hear about Bob Lutz? He said that global warming was bullshit and that hybrids "make no economic sense". Another argument why you would never buy a car from GM again. Btw have you heard about the Aptera Type-1? It comes in full electric mode 120 mile range for 26900 $ or a plug-in hybrid mode 300 mile(!) range for 29900 $. It will probably sell like crazy when it arrives in late 2008 (hopefully)

  • Lutz is now on a mission to "greenwash" GM, but few believe him.

We're all hoping for a 3-wheel car like the Aptera, but so far, no car.

  • Mister (k)Lutz is Green washing? Like promoting the environmentally friendly, 21 MPG, Middle Eastern oil-powered, TAHOE hybrid?

  • I love your videos, and your help with the environment. I'm sorry but I am an Oregonian and had to correct Lisa on how to say Oregon. It is pronounced OR-E-GEEN

  • Oops! We drove our HondaEV to Eugene, and found out how to pronounce Willamette, but sorry about OR-E-GEEN.

  • What is an RV?

  • RV=Recreational Vehcile, like a motor-home or camper. While they get as little as 6 mpg, they generally just drive 100 miles, then stop and grok for a few weeks or months.

  • @liveoilfree

in europe thats 1000 miles or so here with campers

  • Indeed. The biggest cost isn't the technology. It's the cost of our massive foreign policy to secure oil in unstable areas of the globe. Our national debt now is equal to $26,000 for every man, woman, and child in the US. You can figure, every family, if they had that money ($26k * 4), would have PLENTY to buy a really nice 450 mile range EV (probably two) AND afford a very nice solar power system to cover their house with. Problems solved (oh, and with no bombs, bullets, killing, etc...).

  • By my calculations, the cost of three years "Defense" budget plus the cash cost of the wars in Iraq and Afgan (a total of about $2T) would allow FREE EV1 (lead acid) plus solar sytem for 100M families. Free driving, free solar, no bombing needed.

  • And the cost (and profits) are gonna raise even more. When we enter the era of dirty syncrude.

    blogDOTforeignpolicyDOTcomSLASHnodeSLASH6843

  • Ironically enough, the biggest industrial user of electric and natural gas is the oil extraction and refining industry.

The energy used in refining (8% of the barrel of oil) would carry an EV1 more than 800 miles, MORE than the rest of the oil would fuel an average IC car 800 miles!

    That's how efficient EVs are!

  • if its money versus life in the case of cleaner electric cars, make the car so the idiots who dont want them to be able to have a life without pollution so they can make money at all. money aint nothing if your dead by heat stroke with the carbon holding in the heat.

  • Yes, the cost of continuing to burn oil is much greater than any cost of EV and solar power.
