i see silat as a complete system. as they are in the middle of china and india trade from ancient times. Cimande83 is right about chinese and indian influence in silat.

Yes, it is complete system: both spiritual and physical (in all positions and situations).

I think you should go to history class. Silat was rooted in one of South East Asia country.

Silat has some cool throws. Similar to other arts but has it's own flavor.

of course.. silat has a colorful history. With the parentage and fusion from the warriors of the hindu kingdoms (ancient indonesia) and a bit of the chinese influence cleverly mixed with the local arts of that period. thats what makes silat unique in its own way.
