Good on ya mate. The government starts the wars and we have to bloody fight them on the field and in the courts when they've messed you up and thrown you out.
Since when did politicians get to rewrite military history? The AWM historians have said and continue to say there was never a 2nd D&E platoon and they are correct no matter what Dr Kelly says! As far as it being the largest infantry platoon battle, wrong again! The ambush was supported by APCs with the infantry under the command of an Armoured Corps Officer. There is no doubt that it was a very successful ambush by body count, but not the biggest infantry platoon actions of the war!
I'd like to make two comments about gendarme 215's comment: First, the statement that it was "one of the biggest platon-sized battles of the war" was actualy made by General Steve Gower of the Australian War Memorial in August 2007; as to the histotical validity of the 2nd D&E Platoon- note that on May 29th, 2008, The Hon Mike Kelly MP formally acknowledged the existence of, and operations of, the "2nd D&E Platoon". (See ALP website/ Mike Kelly/ May 29th 2008). Now who's the "idiot"?
