  • I like the music

  • Che cosa è la canzone a 40 secondi?

  • Whats the song that starts at 0.40

  • @johnsebastianbach

The title is "Dokou El Mazaher" from the CD "Music of Egypt" (traditional music of Egypt). Thanks for the appreciation !

  • Thats a hell of alot of sand and a couple of rusty trucks. not worth the 6 mins i could have wasted watching it.

  • One day, I will make a pilgrimage to these sites to see them firsthand.

There's something incredibly enrapturing to me about actually seeing these relics simply sitting at the same spot where they came to rest for whatever reason 70 years before. I'm the sort of person to examine, to question, and to try and preserve whatever I can. To think, there might be some vehicles or other artifacts out in the sands, of which no examples exist anywhere else! It's our duty to preserve what's left!

  • "Relics of Long Range Desert Group"

Huh....? WTF are they talking about, there's nothing but fricken desert and sand, an old beat-up car, somebody dumped, probably not more than 30 years ago, so it couldn't possibly be from WW2.... What a complete waste of time... I was expecting someone to put, "Got-Ya!" in print, towards the end of the video...

  • Well you said it man! It's the lack of reading that make people ignorant. Only funny that they should be so cocky with "knowledge" based on revisionary TV-series. And while we're at it, the British were not alone in using different nationalities in their forces. In the Italian campaign the Americans used South-Americans, Nisei-Japanese and coloured troops in the 5th Army.

  • Gonzorecovery: Every Country writes it's own version of history. Including England. So don't be so fast to judge. I'm not here to argue. Now, to my fellow US Citizens... You really need to read up on the real history and not whats on TV. While the "Rat Patrol" was fun to watch, it was NOT real. The only real "Desert Rats" (Their nickname) were those of the British 8th Army. I am a huge history buff of the LRDG. Many of those old troopers can still teach a thing or two....

  • About the only thing American going on at that time were the Ford, and eventual Chevy trucks used by the LRDG. If you want to see a nice website, go to the Long Range Desert Group Preservation Society. They are a great bunch, and dedicated to the LRDG.

  • I learned a great deal from the LRDG even so long after WW2. I read up on many of the things they used to keep alive, and operate in the Desert when it was my time to go to that part of the world. The books on the LRDG are a great source to read. Many of them are written by former troopers of the LRDG/SAS.

  • So Gonzo, some of know the real deal, and are more than willing to educate those that don't. Like I said, there are people who need to be educated on all sides. Be safe.

    Ed

  • ...and last but not least don't try to rewrite history with fictous (TV-based)commandogroups. The Americans never had any commandogroups in the dessert. The British however had many experienced like the SAS, LRDG and PPA.

  • Tell him again, Rockettez !

  • Dear "Swanning around" a little reading on the subject would be nice before you comment. The "Torch" - landings actually consisted of more English troops than American in the first place and secondly it was commanded by a British commander. When the "Torch" campaign was about to go wrong it was taken over by British General Alexander. It was however the british 8th army that really had any experience pushing through Libya, having fought two years against the Germans previous of the landings.

  • I wonder if Patton's men, the American "Rat Patrol" was here too. They were the kings of the desert.

I always though the LRDG was an Anzac outfit.

  • What kind of fuckwit are YOU ? Oh - sorry - stupid of me - just the usual transatlantic kind -arrogant, ignorant of history ( real history, that is - not the rewritten Uncle Sam variety) and so far up his /her own ass they forget that most of the rest of the world had been at war since '39. Late again, Yank, and still imagining that numbers = superiority. As a nation, you make me puke...

  • Swan.Like I said. Ignorant. Ralph Bagnold, Patrick Clayton and Bill Shaw (the 'originators' of LRDG) were all Brits. The rationale for PARTIAL recruitment from 'colonial' forces was simply utilising experience of maintaining machinery in hot climates, & navigating trackless wastes. The strategies, tactics and operational policies ? All British. Victorious in Tunisia ? Against a retreating, beaten Afrika Corps who had been whipped across N.Africa by 1st and 8th Armies. Hoorah for Uncle Sam - not.

  • @Swanningaround, The Rat Patrol was a FICTIONAL unit made up for a 1960s TV program, I suppose you think U51 was real aswell, and that the men who broke out stalag luft had Americans amongst them? You've got to stop learning history from hollywood and pick up a book sometimes.

  • MrFooknuts. The Rat Patrol was made up of brave Americans who drove Rommel out of the desert. I do think that U51 was real, and I know it was. Of course the heroes of the great escape were Americans. There were others there also, like Canadians.

  • Again you are completly wrong U571 was sunk by an anzac fight plane on the coast of scotland, the Enigma machine was recovered by a british crew on another U-boat, the great escape only British got out, they moved the Americans to another part of stalag luft well before the escape, and I say again, the Rat Patrol was entirely fictional, it didn't exist, it was based on the British and NZ LRDG and used the name of the desert rats, there was no US version of the LRDG, Hollywood is not real

  • MrFooknuts. What are you on about. You mentioned U51, and then switched to U571. Please do not get confused. Another thing, the Brits (English) were not the only people who escaped, although they like to portray this myth. Go back and check your facts. Don't listen to English propaganda.

  • U51 was a typo, And there is even a documentary distributed with the DVD of the great escape which tells how only British got out because the yanks were moved to another part of stalag luft, but I'm trying to help an unwilling idiot learn something here, so I'm out.

  • Here you go, a quick google later.

"The story was adapted for the screen by James Clavell, W.R. Burnett, and Walter Newman from Paul Brickhill's book The Great Escape. Brickhill had been a prisoner at Stalag Luft III during World War II and novelized the experience.

The screenwriters increased the importance of the roles of American POWs relative to the reality of the actual escape, as their role was minor and it was a largely British affair."

  • MrFooknuts. The head of the camp was a New Zealander, not English. Also, there were many nationalities in the Great Escape, not just the English. There were Poles, Greeks, French, Australians, Canadaians and many others.

  • MrFooknuts. You are incorrect. U571 is not a fiction. I can assure you that U571 certainly existed.

  • @swanningaround you really need to grow a brain and stop beleiving that hollywood is fact. The war in africa was won by the time the yanks were involved and when they were they folded like a pack of cards at Kasserine pass lol. the Yanks had NOTHING to do with breaking the german enigma code that was all the britz U571 is total fiction so get over it I have you dolt!!!! You live on another planet

  • @bommer321 Kasserine pass was an initial battle to test the strength of the Germans. Patton finished off by driving the Germans out of North Africa and pursuing them all over Europe back to Berlin. He said about Rommel "I read your book". Patton was always one or two steps ahead of Rommel. The US won WW2.

  • "The US won WW2"

    In your dreams maybe.

  • @swanningaround Ha! Ha! Ha! They also captured an enigma machine too! Stop believing Americlone propaganda!

  • @Crecybowman Enigma machine. While Poland was trying to crack some simple code, the United States was working on the next generation. They were dreaming up new machines which would create the atomic bomb. No one can compete with the brilliance of the American mind then or now.

  • @swanningaround Now I know you are a wind up merchant! America has the thickest race of people I have EVER seen! I have travelled in America extensively, and have come to the conclusion that the so-called 'American Dream' is to have an IQ in double figures!

  • @Crecybowman I think you miss the point of America. Your UK people may be far more intelligent. However American will alway be superior. Wny? It is because the people believe in truth, justice, honor, decency and most of all humility. English people do not understand these ideas. They only understand things like IQ for solving Enigma. The United States came up wth Eniac, a far superior beast to Enigma, which is European.

  • @swanningaround you are a holier than thou imbecile. ignorant to the extreme. you make us look bad. and thats from a fellow american.

  • @panzerdragoonSS I am irrelevant in this conversation. Only three things matter - God, the President of the United States and the American Flag.

  • @swanningaround you sir, are irrelevant, period.

  • @panzerdragoonSS You too are irrelevant. Only three things matter - God, the President of the United States and the American Flag. Remember that.

  • @swanningaround are you dick riding obama? pull your head out of your ass or whatever it is up there thats gots you so damn confused. do you really think such blind patriotism is a good thing? you could walk right into anything and you d never know it until it was too late.

  • @panzerdragoonSS I have lived long enough to know what is a good thing. If you love the American flag, follow the President of the United States and worship God, you will never "walk into anything".

It is not about Obama. all Americans completely trust and follow the President of the United States. With George W. Bush, it was the same.

  • @swanningaround You are a stereotypical American Wanker,...

Thank fcuk there are also many really decent people in the US, to cancel out idiots like yourself who give America a really bad image problem.

  • @ozzirt Americans speak the truth. It taes courage and grit, which the American people have in spades. God bless the President of the United States.

  • @swanningaround Yeah the world is so well aware of you propensity for telling the truth. Like the lies peddled by the NeoCons about WMD in Iraq,... etc., and we also know of the "Good ole boy" redneck jingoistic bullsh!t that some of you try to pass off as patriotism.

You wouldn't know either the truth or patriotism if it bit you on your big flabby arse. We often see pictures of your courageous and gritty go getters lined up at McDonalds and Hungry Jack's supersizing their obese guts.

  • @ozzirt I will let you think what you will. As I stated so often - courage and grit - it is why the United States won WW2. It is why we have continual peace in the world. You might say "what does America stand for". One thing. Goodness. It is the soul of the great American people - it is a pure soul.

  • @swanningaround Ahhh, a student of US history.

I don't suppose you also remember that you didn't show your nose in WW1 untill it was within months of finishing,.... just in time to have a say about dividing up the spoils. You were also determined to keep out of WWII until the Japs attacked Pearl harbour,... and after the Australians, who had most of their army in the western desert had already turned the Japs around at Kokoda.

I think you've confused gritty and cheeky.. Get used to it.

  • @ozzirt I do know history. WW1 only started when the US arrived. Some with WW2. Before that, these were a collection of localized wars. It took American involvement to make them world wars, and America solved the problem by winning. Australia was in a few minor engagements around the edges. The key battles were fought between the Americans and the Japanese.

  • @swanningaround I see that my comment about going blind is too late, you are obviously alreadt blind as a bat. You have obviosly never read any facts then. Australian troops had driven the japs back to Buna on the northern coast of PNG before the Japs even attacked Pearl Harbour.

You are the archetypal redneck Yankee bullshit artist who has earned the sobriquet "Ugly American"

So much for your "gritty" American, haha.

  • @ozzirt You know very little. That is very clear to all. You are living in a dream world. I assure you that the idea that all Australians are brown men and Americans white is just that - a myth. Australians did not get red necks. Why? It is because they were too busy avoid wars, where necks would be exposed to the sun. As the Australian commander Blamey said "run rabbit run". He knew the Australian way.

  • @swanningaround Haha, you are obviously not awake yet, you are still half asleep or more likely stoned on something.

We were in both World Wars a lonnnnggg time before you became involved. So your dumb as dogsh!t remarks reflect rather badly on your non existant "knowledge" and veracity.

You just dig yourself into the sh!t deeper and deeper. Gritty,... haha, I bet you are a typical 13 year old US butterball raised on a diet of take away food and Coca Cola, trying to makeout you are a man.

  • @ozzirt I have been to Australia. There are plenty of very very fat and red necked people there. I can assure you. you have probably never met an American. You are a fool, and lack education like the others. The Americans were the ones who beat Rommel. Patton said "I read Rommel's book". It was the glorious American army, navy and air force that won victory after victory.

  • @swanningaround Yep, you ARE a wanker. I've probably sat at stop lights in Fairfax VA longer than you've spent in Australia. I've lived at no less than 5 addresses in the US in 3 States, and I've seen many of the remainder. I've probably flown in and out of more airports in the US than you've had hot dinners.

Don't BS to me about the US, I probably have more friends there than you as well, which wouldn't be hard.

GS Patton was a show pony, despised by his peers as much as the enemy.

  • @ozzirt You see. You are still swearing away - definitely lower class. You have clearly not been to the US. You think that everyone there is fat and has a red neck. I saw more sunburnt and fat people in Australia when I was there than the typical US city. Getting back to facts. Australia has a miserable war record. Nearly every battle ended up in a defeat for them. Contrast this with the bravery and winning ways of the fabulous Americans. You have no history and tradition like the USA does.

  • @swanningaround A country with more of it's population in prison than any other country in the world, barring China. I think most of them are there for offences relating to talking bullshit. Plus the highest rate of homocide and gun related crime in any first world country. The country with the highest rate pedophiles per capita,... the good ole US of A.

Yep we all know all about your traditions and history you Fukwit. Thank you for taking the time to humiliate yourself on the internet.

  • @ozzirt I am sorry. When we talk about Australia, we talk about incompetence, duck-shoving, yes, even cowardice. Look at Australia's record. A disorderly retreat from Turkey, a massive defeat in Greece, another in Crete, plus a dismal showing at Tobruk. Too cap it all off, a shocking surrender to a tiny force of Japanese soldiers in Singapore, not to mention the pathetic record of the navy and air force. Contrast this with America's shining victories in both WW1 and WW2. God bless America.

  • @swanningaround Nice try,.. such a pity it's all bullshit. The insult being that it comes from an idiot who is supporting a country that is so far in debt that it has ruined most economies in the world. The great bastion of democracy that is hugely in debt to, of all places, CHINA!

Haha, I was going to suggest you quit while you were ahead, but that has never been the case has it? All you've ever done is fall on your big flabby arse every time you open your big loud Yankee sh!t chute

  • Comment removed

  • @swanningaround I say supporting in my post below because your lack of real style is not that of a true Yank, your BS is too "Over the top", you sound like one of those low class European social climbers, with your nose shoved firmly up the @rse of the Yanks. I'd guess that you were the offspring of a halfwit and a pig who is trying to curry favor with the yanks in an effort to get some support for a greencard so you can go there and work as a cheap male prostitute

It's amazing what PMs I get

  • @swanningaround do you realize you are a Knob don't you what war has America won on its own NONE you loser they have always begged for the help of others. You go on about the ANZAC's retreating from Turkey that fuck up was led by the British so was Greece and Crete. But if you had even picked up one history book you would know that. Not to mention that Australia pulled Americas arse out of the fire in the pacific. Americans are known for their big mouths and cowardly ways the world hates you al

  • @swanningaround Your a fucknut.

  • @swanningaround You're making a right royal mess of it aren't you, A liar and bullshit artist par exellence, caught out at every turn.

Go and buy yourself a dozen Big Macs and a gallon of Thickshake, and sit with the rest of the pan handlers in the park among your peers, They'll console you. Haha

  • @swanningaround You should let go of your wiener before you go blind you fukwit.

No wonder the term "The Ugly american" sprang up,... it was because of wankers like you spouting your BS to a disinterested world. Thank fcuk your type are a minority,... but unfortunately your big mouths do enough damage to the US reputation that no one gets to see the real America.

  • what did they find looks like nothing but sand and rocks weres the long range desert group
