  • THE TRUE SHELBY COBRA 427!

  • i recently sold my cobra replica to uncle roy for 25,500 not a bad price and im thinking about geting a 340 plymouth duster...not as bad ass as the cobra but for 7500$ and put say 3000 into it i could sell it at auction for 16-20 thousand...any ideas what i should buy after that?

  • If Shelby had not made the ORIGINAL, there would never have been a market for the replicas, would there?

I own a Backdraft replica that I bought for my 58th birthday. I have wanted a Cobra since I was fourteen.

  • Carroll Shelby wanted the baddest 427 Cobra when he had this built back in the day.

Edelbrock Crossram Intake with Twin Paxton Superchargers etc. He should have installed the 427 SOHC like Jay Leno eventually did to his replica, plus it would have fit under the stock hood.

  • @427CQBRA Why? Carroll knew what he was doing. He wanted something outrageous and over the top and "faster than anything Steve McQueen owns." He sure as hell built it too. Leno built a nice car, but it's not an original Shelby and it won't sell for 5 million either. Because it says Jay Leno on it and not Carroll Shelby. Plus this thing is just bad ass fast!

  • @sixtiesforever1966

Try getting 800+hp with 60's technology and then try getting it to fit under a stock Cobra hood. The 2 super chargers and hood scoop start making a lot more sense.

  • @sixtiesforever1966 Not in 1966 you couldn't.

  • For everyone saying the car isn't worth $5.5 million, open your eyes. This is ONE OF A KIND. Carroll Shelby is the creator and original owner.

If you are the religious type, this is the equivolent of a bible written and only owned by Jesus, with a special cliff notes section and author commentary.

If you are a conspiracy theorist, this is the full story, all the facts, of the JFK assassination and 9/11; and narrated by GW Bush, Bin Laden, Morgan Freeman, and Ian McKellan.

  • I never see these cars being drivin' on the week days. I only see them in car shows and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The people driving them are like 50 or 60 too. But when they drive them they drive them for like 10 or 15 minutes. I know two old timers that own them. One has his in red and the other has his in black with white stripes.

  • As Cosby said in his best Shelby voice, "and it'll do OVER 200 miles per hour. It's gonna have dual ....everthang, everthang's gonna be dual. You and I will just ride down the highway doing over 200 miles per hour and loving it."

  • @rockinredneck57 HAHA :D

    taken from the 200mph album

    The whole video of it:

  • A 427 Ford side-oiler with twin Paxton superchargers developing over 800hp in a car slightly larger than an MG. You gotta have brass agates to floor that monster.

  • I remember seeing it on tv. It is twin supercharged or twin turboed. A home builder from phoenix Az. brought to go with he's big collection of cars.

  • Maybe I just don't get it......... but engines can be rebuilt! Why don't you ever see anyone who owns one of these cars really give it shit!! That to me would be the whole point. If it were something that was simply irreplaceable like WW2 spitfire, I could see one's concern, but piston rings, a cam and few lifters? Seems like a waste to me. P.S. I have never heard of a Cobra going for a Million...Plus.

  • that 427 doesnt sound as nice as it should although hes probly got a dirty set up

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeekkk 5.5m and it sounds like a bag of nails get a refund carroll luv.

  • I think I just wet myself. If you'll excuse me, I have to go change.....

  • Sounds like a school bus and it's automatic. I don't understand why that guy paid 5 million for it.

  • @HigherPlanes Because it's about 850 hp, the ONLY one like it in the world and Shelby says it'll do over 200 mph. It was Carroll Shelby's personal Cobra since 1967. That good enough for you?

  • @rockinredneck57 Maybe it's good enough for the guy that purchased it. But is it good enough for me? That a big resounding NO! For 5 million I'd get a house in Hawaii.

  • @rockinredneck57 It's actually not the only one. I believe there were two others. One was for the most part destroyed however.

  • @thing503Actually there were only two of them ever made. One Bill Cosby was to buy but returned it because it was too powerful. It was then sold to a guy across the pond that had a nervous breakdown and committed suicide in it by jumping off a cliff.

The one that was sold here was Carroll's personal one.

  • @hairdog Ah, see I knew there was at least one more. I knew about the one driven off the cliff. I don't know why i thought there were 3 though haha.

  • See kids? If you know how to market things correctly, you can sell your old shitty 30-40 year old car and still make 5 million dollars off of it. All it takes is a few sweet words such as "only one of its kind," and the dumb rich cunts will open their wallet like it's Christmas. Congratulations to the buyer for being the biggest dumbass there at the auction. 5 million dollars.... I can buy 7 Lamborghinis, one for each day, 2 hot wives and a house! Fuck these stupid rich cunts.

  • @thi711 jealousy...

  • @thi711 and to you....i guess you dont know racing history or any car history at all. I welcome you to the car scene!

  • @thi711 that "stupid rich cunt" has more money than you for a reason. that car will not only hold its value but it will grow-alot.

  • not worth 5.5 mil sorry

  • No............ this is one of 2 original prototypes HE made in 60's with English body and his version of a 427 S/C and tube frame?

One place i am unsure of is what type frame?

But this IS the ORIGINAL CAR @5 000 000$us ......I bet i wont ever even see THIS car!!!!!!!!

  • oh my god im gona cum....

  • the luckiest guy in all this...the one who got to drive it on and off the stage...he didnt pay a dime for the honor

  • This care was once painted metal flake pink and was owned by Jimmy Webb. He used to drive it around the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood on the weekends.

  • Sure, kid.

  • What dynamite-proof rear end does this car use?

I mean, 800 horses..in a car from the 60s, how can the rear end stand the engines torque and power??

I guess it's very hard to control the car if someone Would attempt to floor it.

  • Road and track apparently had it running a little over 3 seconds to 60MPH back in the 60s, soo. Maybe not perfect control, but still.

Wish i could have heard it at full trot. Poor thing is probably a paper-weight now. Atleast it was driven hard in its youth!

  • What dynamite-proof rear end does this car use?

    Ford 9 inch.

  • Think you got some zero's too much, 5,5 billion might be a little overexpensive ;)

    Nice car and extreme sound!!

  • it says f million. theres a . at the end look close

  • Yeah, million. But not billion ;)

  • I own a Cobra Replica. with the OG's going for so much money, it amazes that people actually ask, "is that a real one?" yeah right... and Jessia Alba is waiting for me to pick her up, so i gotta go. :)

  • @YouDonWantonKnow I guess we all wish our better than original cobra replicas were worth that 5 mil price tag. and say hello to Jessica Alba for me. LOL

    Thanks

  • @YouDonWantonKnow whats the difference?

  • @YouDonWantonKnow Haha, I know. Doesn't hurt to ask though. I've seen one real cobra before and it was at the Modesto Graffiti cruise that we have every year. He had matching numbers on everything. He said it made about 570 horsepower. Sideoiler block.

  • @YouDonWantonKnow what do you mean with the OGs as in originals, in plural when there is only one of this kind in the world

  • @YouDonWantonKnow Hey people are driving around in the Bughatti which cost HALF MILLION DOLLARS

When you watch Barret Jackson and particular people are buying a million dollars worth of cars.

Seems there is allot of wealthy people buying cars

  • Think if he(Carrol Shelby) would have used a 427 SOHC with dual paxton superchargers instead, and reinforced the engine and made it able to rew at @ 10 000 RPM.

  • This is the Cobra that Ron Pratt bought for 5 million

  • CSX 3303 built for Bill Cosby. CSX 3303 was a 1967 427 street car retained by Shelby American as a PR car and then made into a Super Snake for Bill Cosby. Cosby's record album titled '200 MPH' attests to the fact of why he only drove it once before returning it to Shelby American. Shelby American sold it to S and C Motors in San Francisco, who then sold it to their customer, Tony Maxey. Maxey destroyed himself and CSX 3303 by driving off of a cliff and into the Pacific Ocean.

  • the only supersnake in the world went on to sell for 5 million bucks

  • 800 horsepower. Could squawk rear wheels in every gear, do 55 MPH in reverse. This car is truly legend.

  • sweeet super snake

  • Bill Cosby eventually sold his & that person wrecked it beyond repair as I was told many years ago. At least someone enjoyed it for what it was built for.

  • Tony Maxey. Maxey destroyed himself and CSX 3303 by driving off of a cliff and into the Pacific Ocean.

  • fuck noise pollution! lol That is one sexy car!

  • This was the one that had the original twin Paxton superchargers; there were only two made, one for Carrol Shelby himself and one for Bill Cosby. The car underwent a full restoration prior to the auction. It truly is one of a kind!

  • jump in it and drive off .. haha
