I had a completely standard 2cv6 a couple of years ago and it was absolutely the best 2WD vehicle that I have ever driven on snow. They're meant to be good on sand as well, must give that a try if I ever get another one.

2cv's have been used on raids all around the world, crossing continents and jungles in standard form let alone converted to 4x4's. They are VERY capable little cars. Variants were even made Argentina and Iran to drive the rest of the world!

You dont need to drive a defender in low gear here, drive 1st, 2nd gear will be much faster then the 2cv, because of his better traction and coils springs... And torque offcourse, but thats stupid, the defender isn't a rally car it's a offroad car. Try to do a cross axel section in the 2cv

@spinixDH but 2cv's have coil springs?! aft to rear running along the chassis. As the front coil compresses it pulls the rear spring forward ready for the impact, genius design. I think Louis' latest chassis have even been fitted with a central diff lock. Ahh it's all just a bit of fun really.

Although the car has been out of production for decades, technically the 2CV still knocks the defender into a cocked hat. It's also MUCH lighter, much better made, and a million times more reliable. If I had to rely on one of these cars to get me out of a jungle/desert whatever I'd pick the 2CV every time.
