so are you playing this with your dumble clone or the axe fx dumble model? also are you using a poweramp, I am seriously considering a axe-fx as I really want that dumble sound without paying 40,000 dollars for the guitar, and I really like the idea of amp modeling especially for recording. Thanks
Sounds better than the other clips I've heard of this thing. Your playing is phenominal, but the thing I don't get about is.... why not just use a REAL tube amp? That's the tone you're going for, so why not just use the real thing as opposed to an overpriced piece of crap that is TRYING to model the real thing which will ALWAYS sound better no matter what? I really don't get it.
This is sort of how I feel about the issue. I sort of just want the Axe-FX to cut down the amount of gear I own and be able to do some nice silent recording. It will be hard to ditch my Mesa.
I dunno man, if it didn't say axe-fx in the title i bet any one of us would've accepted it as a tube amp.
I don't have one of these things, but I think they sound pretty great. I say to each his own, and if he likes the sound of it then that's awesome. all of this gear snobbiness and tube amp elitism gets to me sometimes.
I'm not sure how you can call the Axe-FX an "overpriced piece of crap"? Take away ALL of its amp modeling capability and you still have a multi-effects unit rivaling Eventide gear. The quality of the converters and the amount of DSP power is right in line with its price point. For people who use modulation effects, pitch shifting, and solid delay and reverb, the unit stands on that alone. The gold standard PCM 70 was $1800 and up in 1985 dollars and didn't do nearly as much.
Not to knock you, but, I have played and loved real tube amps all of my playing life, and that amounts to 30 years now. I have owned 2 fender twin reverbs, one 86 and one 91, as well, a Marshall JMP 79, JCM 800 and JCM 800 white anniversary series, a markIV mesa, a single rectifier Mesa and a yorkville 50 watt combo. In my opinion, and I do recording, Axe-FX has nailed that tube sound and sine wave that these amps get. OPen up the mind and just listen for yourself. Its far from crap
man, I've been travelling/working for the past month! (while all you other guys have been on holiday ;) ). thanks, M. P.S. we'll do it sometime for sure.

I just ordered an AxeFx, after many years of tubes amps. Is this your own preset? Thanks for posting.

Sounds better than ever Marin. Maybe if I would just sell a few pickups I could afford one of these modellers... ;o)

I play my real amp too. Both things have their time and place.

Have you ever compared the Axe-fx to the real thing in person? Please do so, it will change your mind. Peace.

@JEKJazzer I'm an owner myself, so i can speak from my experience.
1) Digital cannot be better than tubes but it can get arbitrarily close (by construction). Well, Axe-Fx gets VERY close.
2) You cannot get good tone out of a tube amp unless you crank it up. Axe-Fx lets you do that without using attenuators which changes the tone.
3) Mostly due to point 2 above, the tone you get out of Axe-Fx will sound better in almost all circumstances than a real tube amp.
