I am a fan of both "Let the Right One In" AND "Twilight." I think most people make the mistake of assuming that Twilight is just for kids, because of the screaming 12-year-olds. But I can assure that Twilight has some decent qualities! For one thing, the characters are older, which makes Bella and Edward's decisions more dramatic and serious.
Just to let you know people, Director Matt Reeves will released the remake of Let The Right One In, called Let Me In, on Oct 1,2010. Please let me know what you feel people.
This is like the Main Theme of Let the right one in. This is the most touching song I've ever heard. This song compasses Iron and Wine song for Twilight. Burter Carwell did a poor job in selecting the songs. Even Kristen Stewart choice of the Iron and Wine's song pale's in comparison to this song. Long Live Let the right one in!!!!
well i just finished watching it and 1). The little girl's vajayjay wasnt necessary.....2). So what at the end when he's on the train does that mean he was sent away cuz the whole town thinks that Oscar killed all those folks not Elie? AND 3). It doesnt matter-i just hope we dont go and remake it ......and Psss Since the English Dubbing actors were so horrible im gonna go and watch it again this time the original with the subtitles....
I mean, how did you find out that they are changing the nmaes? What is your source, I have looked in lots of places for news on the remake but couldn't find anything recent. If you know any sources, could you tell me so I could look?

Hell even the silence in this movie had a meaning. You can never ever compare this one to something like Twilight that was made for teen audience and for big money.
Well, if i offended you, I apologize. I am not 16, nor i am not 18. I am even more than 18. I do agree with you, Let the right one in is much better compared to Twilight. I even cried when Eli's theme was being played in the movie.
heh No Problem. I also could have understood that comment the wrong way :D Like Million miles behind twilight... but now I think you meant, Million Miles ahead of Twilight. The music sure made me sad too. Have a nice day mate.
Yes, you are right. Why the hell was Matt Reeves thinking when he made a remake of this film? The remake will not be able to connect with the audience.
Eclipse is gonna have a challenge from two movies. One would be a remake of Let the right one in, the other would be a sequel to Bram Stoker's Dracula, called Dracula the undead set 15 or 25 after Abraham Van Helsing, Jonathan and Mina Harker defeated Dracula. They have a son called Quincy Harker.
Let The Right One In is nothing like Twilight, unlike Stephanie, John can actually write and I would say that the book is a thousand times better than Twilight considering the fact that you can trully understand Let The Right One In. While Twilight is pretty much just Disney these days. A shame that they ruined the Twilight fandom completley by making it into a movie. I used to love the books.
I don't know you can't really compare the two (twilight and let the right on in) Twilight is sugary sweet, LTROI is visceral and raw it's like comparing chalk to cheese lol. Yeah it's vampire/human romance but the settings are in stark contrast. FYI just saying that you hate Twilight doesn't make you king turd. There's room in my life for both and I love them both the same lol... if that made sense! :D
I can't really compare two movies. By the way, the remake will feature these two kids but the names will be different: Oskar will now be Owen, Eli will now be Abby in the remake slated for next year's release.
You're right. I wish happiness for both Oskar and Eli, even if their relationship turns out to be tragic for both of them. I also wish for Oskar to be turned to a vampire so that he can take care of Eli.
I truly liked it to, it reminds me of the "The Little Vampire" books by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg. Only more romantic, sad, adult, gory, and realistic in it's own terms.
I actually think that Oskar and Eli's relationship is left as ambiguous. We never really know if Eli truly loves Oskar or whether she's searching for her next 'familiar'. The movie works whether you believe true love is real or a lie.
I am reading the book. But i am just seeing it as a movie. I feel like there is true love. But if there is true love, Eli would have closed her eyes right? Why didn't she?
I have a question for you. Why did it took her a while to close her eyes while kissing Oskar? If you really love somebody, you would close your eyes and feel the love of each other?
I don't think she really knew what she was doing. It was probablt her first kiss (unless she kissed Hakan at some point, which I doubt,) so I don't really think she was sure what she was supposed to do. After a while she sort of relaxed into it, and then she closeed her eyes.
Enough to save him. I don't want to spoil it for you but in the book she says something to him which makes me positive that she dosn't just want him for a helper.
with all the respect, i think u didnt understand the movie. first is no a she, is a he, he makes them think that he is girl. because he needs a male to do the job that a women coulnt. tthe end of the movie says the story stars again
I was very mature back then, I know some charachters were disturbing *coughHakancough*, and some parts were disturbing, I wouldn't recommend it to other 13 year olds, but when I was 13 I could handle that kind of thing.
Thanx! I now feel one will interpret the movie (vs the book even ) according you your MOOD at the time of viewing. Another LTROIsite asked what was played as Eli and Oskar danced. (Movie & book different pieces; book on pg 346 "True Love") After that ques -it caused me to reread the book. Now must say LOVE THIS MOVIE over book -which is a rare thing. JohnL also wrote the screenplay, which may explain why. As woman, I found the movie to be more romantic
@werleniaz Im a teenager who has never bothered to read twilight or see a film but went to go and see let the right one in at the cinema and have read the book of let the right one in, and I didnt bother seeing the remake

People, if you have seen the dubbed down version of Let the right one in, in the ending credits. It is shown that Johan Soderqvist made all the songs, and performed it with the Slovak Symphony Orchestra, thus making it a classical music.
IMO this is one of the most beautiful movie themes ever--period. I wept and wept when I first heard it, and it never fails to touch my heart in some respect. Such a layered comp. Agreed with fellow poster Swede that our heritage adds to our appreciation for this movie.Think that 'LTRIL'and Near Dark are tied or switch off for 1st pl V-movies. ND never even uses the word Vampire lol-! Think that Twiseries could end up being 2 or 3 in line. Georgeous piano theme by Burwell. Love it too. God bless!
Its not Burwell, who made the piano theme for this song, It was Johan Soderqvist, along with the Slovak Symphony Orchestra, who made this heavenly music possible? If you were to choose between 2 cds, would you chose Twilight OST, or LTROI OST?
Yes- SSG did mean was Burwell who wrote bellas theme for TL. Sorry not clear. And i own both soundtracks on those movies. Both great in very different wys. Enjoy both. My sis "stole" my TL cd when visited; need it back! Seems the''intended audience" was different between 2. Agree that ltroi was meant to feel like a swedish winter scene painting lol. Burr! TL aimed at younger audience, thus music too. Still classic songs on track! RPs 1s great! U must see "Near dark" if not have! A cult classic!
You know Johan Soderqvist is much better compared to Burwell Carter. Johan did another score for the movie Things we lost in the fire. Check that movie out.
Watched it here at home. I saw the review of this film made by DevanBlair and I just had to watch it ;D. I had also heard this lovely soundtrack which made me want to see the film even more. My first reaction? Well, it seemed to be realistic (ignore the vampirism) and I liked the non-American scenery, but that's 'cause I'm nearly Swedish :).
hey do you know the song which is played when oscar is practising in the swimming pool and his rivals walk in suddenly ,that song is played on the cassette player....please i want that song ......
My favorite horror film is the remake to invasion of the body snatchers but 95% of remakes are so god awful that I cringe at any new remake being made. I have been DYING to see this movie. it has been over 15 years since a great horror film has come out and now finally the wait is over. when people do a list of best horror films ever this will be on their list.
I hope no one will never ever do a remake of this movie. It is too perfect for that. Too beautiful. The photography. The manuscript. The children actors. And the music as you can hear. It is so good I just cannot get it of my mind. To everyone who has not yet seen it: do so! And if the remake does come: ignore it, please!
the remake could be interesting. it could be something american audiences aren't accustomed to. it could wash the taste twilight left out of our mouths. it's so difficult these days to find artful film in theaters in america. this opportunity isn't a perfect one for that kind of thing to happen, but opportunities are rarely perfect. the remake will be interesting to see if it comes out in theaters, and i personally am looking forawrd to it.
I still don t understand the need for a remake. If different and artful is what you want why not just stick with the original? Dubbing sucks but what s wrong with subtitles?
it is inevitable that the hot topic stores will be filled with merch over this movie and your gonna have all these little 14 year old myspace kids acting like they know all about it when they probably have no idea its a remake or didnt bother watching it cause "subtitles are lame"
For your consideration. It means that the producers sent this out as a sample to help them secure an Oscar nomination. Which they were unable to get because the Academy sucks at life.
Horribly, the director of Cloverfield is listed as the proposed director for the American remake of this great film. I can feel the horror of how the remake is going to suck already, unless he actually proves all of us wrong and does a decent movie.
It's such a shame... The best film of quite possibly ever was hardly shown but in a few select theaters, and immediately after its launch there was already plans for a remake.
I wonder if this actually makes it better in a way, that only few know of its existence...
It would be best that they didn't remake it, sadly, they have already started... It's set to come out next year I believe... I would rather they left this alone because this movie is so incredible, probably the greatest Vampire story AND the greatest love story of all time! It sucks when they go and remake great movies like this... America is just jealous because other countries make such better films...
well if theyre remaking it than it better be better than the swedish one coz the swedish one was awesome. if its not better than the swedish one than there is no point in even making it to begin with =]
I won't get my hopes up too much. Hopefully it'll be okay, but I don't think they can succeed with making it more amazing than the original movie already is.
Ha! I've seen that one also three times - so far. We're going to have it here in Hamburg, Germany for the next 2 weeks, and I already know, what I'm going to do. I can't remember, if I was ever such fascinated by a movie like this one. And, like lookatchy wrote before, it's a story, I wish it could be true. I don't have enough words to describe it...
Yeah, the movie demonstrated a different kind of love that Hollywood often tries to sell. No dramatic high school vampire passion. But a deeper friendship/love.
It did the same to me. But, of course, such feelings do not exist, and the universe is ruled by the immutable laws of necessity, and all that we can do is grit our teeth and comply.
The love can transcend necessity only in our fantasies and in movies.
Such an awesome soundtrack, movie and story. I remember myself going to watch this film released in the BAFICI Festival here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I live.
This is without any doubt the best "vampire film" since I would say Interview with the Vampire. It makes you feel and be that simple.
Like I have said in other posts, it's too bad the Twilight sheep here in America will never know this movie exists. But I heard Matt Reeves(?), the director of Cloverfield, is going to adapt this for American audiences. I'm skeptical of his version because this version was very well done and more emotionally powerful than other films I have seen. I guess we'll see. I doubt he can top it, at least for me.
Why must films be remade (aka butchered) for the US audience? They could easily re'vamp' the marketing and create a larger audience for this already brilliant film.
Problem with making this American is that this film is REALLY, FUCKING, Swedish. These kind of movie's (kind of depressing dramas) and criminal-drama-things (A bit like brittans stuff). So.. I'm sceptical as well.
Reeves is setting his film in..... Denver. Denver. You'd think at least, maybe, Minnesota, but no, Denver. It's a Swedish story. So all Reeves will make is a film inspired by this one but within the constraints of Hollywood, which means sex and action. Why can't he just make an X-men movie or something?
LTROI in is out on DVD on March 10. You can pre-order it on Amazon or other online sellers or at your local video store. My local vid store has already ordered copies for rental.
It's been my all time favourite movie, and book as well. I finished the book last Friday, and it was one of the best I've ever read! 'End random rant.'
Yes 3 to 4 days from today, you can preorder the DVD disc for LTROI. I am just so sad for Oskar and Eli. In the event that Oskar gets turned into a vampire with Eli, what will happen to both of them?

My sis "stole" my TL cd when visited; need it back! Seems the''intended audience" was different between 2. Agree that ltroi was meant to feel like a swedish winter scene painting lol. Burr! TL aimed at younger audience, thus music too. Still classic songs on track! RPs 1s great! U must see "Near dark" if not have! A cult classic!

You know Johan Soderqvist is much better compared to Burwell Carter. Johan did another score for the movie Things we lost in the fire. Check that movie out.

Good that you love this movie. Btw, where did you see this film? What was your initial reaction to this film?
Supersweetguy 2 years ago

QOYAANISQATSI777 3 years ago
This film is already here in you tube. Search for this in the upper bar. Let the right one in part 1.
Supersweetguy 3 years ago
I hope no one will never ever do a remake of this movie. It is too perfect for that. Too beautiful. The photography. The manuscript. The children actors. And the music as you can hear. It is so good I just cannot get it of my mind. To everyone who has not yet seen it: do so! And if the remake does come: ignore it, please!

Unfortunately, after a month, more people will forget about this movie. I am sad it. This movie is so great a masterpiece ...
bestfemaniac 3 years ago
No way, this movie has become a new classic after the first ten minutes in the theatre. For me, best movie in 15 years.
Hannibal103 3 years ago 3
the remake could be interesting. it could be something american audiences aren't accustomed to. it could wash the taste twilight left out of our mouths. it's so difficult these days to find artful film in theaters in america. this opportunity isn't a perfect one for that kind of thing to happen, but opportunities are rarely perfect. the remake will be interesting to see if it comes out in theaters, and i personally am looking forawrd to it.
throwbackdown 3 years ago 2
I still don t understand the need for a remake. If different and artful is what you want why not just stick with the original? Dubbing sucks but what s wrong with subtitles?
betty0055 3 years ago
it is inevitable that the hot topic stores will be filled with merch over this movie and your gonna have all these little 14 year old myspace kids acting like they know all about it when they probably have no idea its a remake or didnt bother watching it cause "subtitles are lame"

Well they will be missing out on one Hell of a movie....my favorite for '08 and I enjoyed alot of movies in 2008

what does FYC means ? ^^
sofiegreenpalmer 3 years ago
For your consideration. It means that the producers sent this out as a sample to help them secure an Oscar nomination. Which they were unable to get because the Academy sucks at life.
TrojanLarsen 3 years ago
This is an FYC for the 2010 Oscars. It will be eligible then.

No remake can possibly outdo this amazing film. for those who's not seen it, do that NOW!
Danneee1337 3 years ago 2
Horribly, the director of Cloverfield is listed as the proposed director for the American remake of this great film. I can feel the horror of how the remake is going to suck already, unless he actually proves all of us wrong and does a decent movie.

I would like to purchase the OST
bestfemaniac 3 years ago
There was no Kate Beckinsale in this movie, nevertheless this movie was fantastic.
zombieiscool 3 years ago 2
It's such a shame... The best film of quite possibly ever was hardly shown but in a few select theaters, and immediately after its launch there was already plans for a remake.
I wonder if this actually makes it better in a way, that only few know of its existence...
vengefulxts 3 years ago 4
maybe when people see the remake they will want to see the original.
amuda1 3 years ago 6
Hopefully. If you dont mind, if this is remade into an american version, how would like this film to turn out?
Supersweetguy 3 years ago
It would be best that they didn't remake it, sadly, they have already started... It's set to come out next year I believe... I would rather they left this alone because this movie is so incredible, probably the greatest Vampire story AND the greatest love story of all time! It sucks when they go and remake great movies like this... America is just jealous because other countries make such better films...
xXxNyappyKittyxXx 3 years ago
well if theyre remaking it than it better be better than the swedish one coz the swedish one was awesome. if its not better than the swedish one than there is no point in even making it to begin with =]
amuda1 3 years ago
Yes but lets see to find out? Shall we?
Supersweetguy 3 years ago
I won't get my hopes up too much. Hopefully it'll be okay, but I don't think they can succeed with making it more amazing than the original movie already is.
6HagareNo6Yumi6 3 years ago
Hopefully, it would be better than Twilight but lets wait and see. That's the only thing we can do for now.
Supersweetguy 3 years ago
it sure is way much better than twilight.....u gotta watch this movie...so deeply touching...i have no regret spending my money on this movie... :)

Well at least no one is going around saying it's overrated. That's the only plus I can find.

I don't have enough words to describe it...
plattfussindianer 3 years ago 4
I've seen this movie 3 times and I'm going to go tonight too. It makes me wish the love demonstrated in the movie really existed.
lookatchya 3 years ago 10
Yeah, the movie demonstrated a different kind of love that Hollywood often tries to sell. No dramatic high school vampire passion. But a deeper friendship/love.
zombieiscool 3 years ago 5
It did the same to me. But, of course, such feelings do not exist, and the universe is ruled by the immutable laws of necessity, and all that we can do is grit our teeth and comply.
The love can transcend necessity only in our fantasies and in movies.

excellent music to go along with an amazing film

Such an awesome soundtrack, movie and story. I remember myself going to watch this film released in the BAFICI Festival here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I live.
This is without any doubt the best "vampire film" since I would say Interview with the Vampire. It makes you feel and be that simple.
Thanks!

SuhaybAlSafuh 3 years ago 4
Why must films be remade (aka butchered) for the US audience? They could easily re'vamp' the marketing and create a larger audience for this already brilliant film.
brytrook 3 years ago 2
true that.
whosgumisthis 3 years ago
Problem with making this American is that this film is REALLY, FUCKING, Swedish. These kind of movie's (kind of depressing dramas) and criminal-drama-things (A bit like brittans stuff). So.. I'm sceptical as well.
W4RW017 3 years ago
i dont think the american audience would be able to handle the swedish ORIGINAL.
movies should only be remade if they are crap and this movie is far from that. i get chills just looking at the pictures up there ^^^
ps, the music is beautiful
amuda1 3 years ago 2
Reeves is setting his film in..... Denver. Denver. You'd think at least, maybe, Minnesota, but no, Denver. It's a Swedish story. So all Reeves will make is a film inspired by this one but within the constraints of Hollywood, which means sex and action. Why can't he just make an X-men movie or something?
LTROI in is out on DVD on March 10. You can pre-order it on Amazon or other online sellers or at your local video store. My local vid store has already ordered copies for rental.

Why must there be remake....???
patches815 3 years ago
The nature of Hollywood is to bastardize and exploit genuinely good movies for the sake of profit. Nothing is sacred anymore...

The saddest part of this is because I loved the movie, book and soundtrack so much I'll probably end up seeing the remake. =(

Yeah, I know, I feel the same. But I am fully prepared to hate it! <3 This film is so incredible, a remake is just completely unnecessary.

I do agree with you. But would you rather see the American trailer instead, and then watch the film to judge if its full of crap? Don't you think?

Yes 3 to 4 days from today, you can preorder the DVD disc for LTROI. I am just so sad for Oskar and Eli. In the event that Oskar gets turned into a vampire with Eli, what will happen to both of them?
