@aierce read my comment again before you calll me a troll mate, i said that the size of the explosion depends on the depths of the charge, and the size of the waves also relies on that factor, mythbusters did not re-enact it correctly, the robot surfer was shit, and the location was completely different, and they didnt do it 'hundreds of times over' they only tried it 4 times max, all im saying is that its still possible, there were wave when whythbusters did it, but the robot failed

Im not sure how they did it but the water he is surfing is def not saltwater... you can tell by the boards lake of buoyancy. Check out videos of the pororoca and then look at waves of the similar size and you will see what im talking about!!

As a wave travels through the ocean after a huge earthquake the wave is maybe a few inches tall, traveling at over 500 mph. the second the water begins to get more shallow the wave compresses. making the wave taller. if the water was more shallow then where the dynamite a the wave amplitude will be taller. meaning u have a legit sized wave

I think its real.. Mythbusters used a river where the depth is constant. A wave increases its amplitude as the depth decreases and speeds up due to conservation of mass. Hence there is more extractable energy on the surface and the wave can be utilised by the surfer. Also you can see a visual of car alarms going and cars coming to a hault.
