Hey, I really want to start to play the piano. I know how to play a few song but just by memory. I know the notes to. (But not sharps and flats just B flat, thanks to this tutorial) Anyway, do you have beginner videos that can help me learn to actually play and not just fool around? I'd really like to learn to play. But I don't want a teacher. I kinda want to go at my own pace, and your videos are awesome because of that. So do you have any beginner videos? If you where would they be? Thanks! :)
@livy36916 I don't really have any true beginner videos, but some of the tutorials I have are easier than others. If you learn the basics of chords, major, minor, 7ths, etc., then you should be able to learn most of the songs I've got posted fairly quickly. Check out the "Hey Jude" or "Let It Be" tutorials for some easier songs that beginners are able to play.
Thank you so much :) I've never had lessons, barely know ANYTHING on piano and like to challenge myself. Thank you so much :) I'm proud to say. I am complete!
I played this at my recent piano recital and it was perfect thanks to you! Now this other little 8 year old kid wants the music for it and I was printing it out and just thinking to myself "Good luck kid..." :D
Ey John, thank you so much for this video. I'm pretty excited cause finally I'm able to play this song. Tomorrow is Paul Mc Cartney's concert here in Chile
wow, this is why i love youtube. its like having a teacher, only better because i don't have the pressure of someone watching my mistakes haha. not to mention, teachers usually charge a fee. thank you!
Nice!! Thank you!! I couldn't even fin any sheet musc online -_-... well without paying for it anyway :P I'm so glad I'm musically inclined. If I weren't, I wouldn't understand a word you are saying, like some of my other friends XD I can play three instruments and piano wasthe first one I learned. I've been playing since I was around 8 years old. Now I've been playing piano for 7 years now :D. I also play the guitar and drums. And a little bit of bass, but the strings kill the fingers XD
Hey John! Wonderful video! I was wondering something though, when you buy sheet music, it never sounds the way it should when you play it (the arthors omit chords and it pisses me off). Where do you get your music?
@RobertHannah89 You're right, they always leave stuff out or get the chords wrong.. I hate it too. The songs I have on my channel are those I have been listening to for 25, 30, 35 years, so I've been able to work with them and get them to sound right. I have also looked at different versions of sheet music for some of them, and taken a few ideas from those on occasion. Mostly, though, I do it by ear.
Hey John how´ve you been. I´m from Brasil and I´m a bass player ... I study piano occasionally and your Martha my Dear video helped me a lot ... Thanks buddy :>
Ugh! I knew nothing of the piano and I started with this song. I think I first learn jingle bells, and later I will return to Martha My Dear. Very good tutorial. I thank you sincerely. (Excuse my google translation, still not mastered English well). Regards.
Thanks again, John. Will look forward to you adding Mandy on the list.
So far I've learned Imagine, Let It Be, and Hey Jude from your tutorials. Here now is a happy man feeling like a good piano player because of your videos :). The Fool On The Hill is next on my hit list. Best regards to you, John. Can't thank you enough. A million stars again.
Hi John - I finally learned Martha My Dear all because of your tutorial. It may not be as good as how you play it but I'm happy. You see, it's hard for me to use four fingers so I omit one but it somehow sounds the same. Thank you very much.
Will you be able to post a tutorial on Mandy by Barry Manilow, or Terminal by Rupert Holmes someday? Only if time permits, John. A million stars to you. Don't know how to thank you enough. Best regards.
That's great! You did the right thing, too.. if the notes are a stretch to reach, just leave one of them out. Nice job on learning a somewhat difficult song!
I haven't played Terminal before, but I can add Mandy to the list for you.
John - I'm illiterate when it comes to music. I've always wanted to learn this song and I'm finally beginning to learn it with your tutorial. YOU ARE GOD SENT. Thank you very much. You are awesome!!! I take my hat off to you.
This is a brilliant lesson. Just the right speed and enough repetitions to help me get the hang of it. The notes added above the piano were really useful too. Having neglected my piano playing for a while this video really helped me get back into it. Thanks!
Pianojohn, thank you for this most helpful tutorial. I have studied it a lot and finally have learned to play the song. Playing this great song has brought joy into my life! You are wonderful for sharing your talent.
Yeah, I finally learned this Beatles classic as well. I'm a guitarist and taking up piano for this song was very challenging, but your video was extremely helpful. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much for your tutorials, I didn't know how to start playing piano, but you helped me a lot making videos, because I hate notes, they're too difficult too me. But I've got one question, why do you do it?
Thanks, glad you find them helpful! I do these just so others can share in the same joy that I get from music, and so that the correct chords and notes are learned.
I have books with the musical notation for Beatle songs. But it's always better to see someone else play. And you play it well. I learned a lot. So thanks!
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped. I think it's easier to see it demonstrated, since sometimes hearing it and seeing it can give you a better idea of the final product.
there. done lol i thought it was longer. Thanks for the tutorial john. Gonna check out some of the other ones and lookin forward for future vids. Happy Holidays John. ^^
You are awesome. Thanks so much for the tutorials!
