@isaanStyle55 Sorry dude its not possible using Cain And Abel. This only works on your network, or if you've hacked all your neighbor's wifi (like me =D) you can sniff your neighbor's.

@clonebone123 Usually, no. This method will not work for webmail, it will only work if the user connects to the email server from an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird and downloads mail to their local computer.

@OrionLong No, unless you can get on their network. You have to be on their network to be able to sniff their traffic.

@MrHumenist Because you can't be the man in the middle with just you and the router. You need the router, you and then the target. You then essentially sit in the MIDDLE and all traffic from the target goes to your PC then to their router.  During this time you're sniffing all that traffic that is going through your PC first.

@123MrPker Full routing comes after half routing. It means that your computer is now acting as the router for that connection. Or more directly, all of that connection's traffic goes through cain before hitting the internet or network.

@123MrPker By running cain, you can see the IP addresses of the people you are playing with on Xbox live.

You cannot capture account info, because it is not being sent. The traffic that cain sees would be various packets of encrypted game data, nothing useful there. You can however run a Denial of Service against their IP to cause them lag and thus win the game. However, if your ISP detects you running a DoS then you've got some 'splaining to do.

@123MrPker No, this is a special situation because it is email. POP3 passwords are very easy to collect when people download their email to programs like Outlook and Thunderbird. You just have to be capturing when they check their mail. Patience or luck comes in handy.

@dafy1978 That's it, it is a browser and email in one suite. You can use any pop3 program though. Seamonkey is not required. You can also use Mozilla Thunderbird, it is the EXACT same thing, but without the browser.

So, I can "hack" my friends e-mail that is connected to his Xbox Live account and change his password so he can recover it because he forgot his password and he need to recover it. So we plan on doing it on my computer :)

@JonathanLunchbox You have to be on his network and he has to have an email program pinging out. If he has that, then he should be able to look up his own password already.

@lillen300 Yes. A business or school network should really have more security enabled, that is students should not be on the same subnet as the school's email traffic, but it is technically possible. Of course you will be most definitely expelled if caught, so don't even try it!!

Are you logging via webmail or POP3 client? My method won't work for webmail as it is now encrypted with a SSL certificate.

If you are sharing your internet with other computers, than use the IP of the computer that is sharing the connection instead of the router. If not, you can use the sniffer tab to collect passwords from your own PC without poisoning. Good Luck.
