The lane gives them a handicap so the others have a fighting chance. If you've seen Maimi's race, it doesn't matter where she starts from coz she super fast.

tsuji's run was longer... the spot where she started and the spot of Ai r not the same and also... tsuji had to run the farrest out of the ring (omg my english -_-) i mean the circle they had to run... tsuji was the most outside one... that way is longer right?
In fact, it's astonishing how the organizers of this race made such a basic error. 100m are always on straightaways, and races less than a lap always require lanes for the entire length. What this means is that the results of the closests races are suspect.
I noticed that too. But did you also notice that the good runners are on the outside lane which is longer. I think it was done intentionally to give the good runners a handycap to make it a more level playing field. Just imagine if they put Maimi on a straight... she'll leave everyone in her dust.. heck even with the handycap she did just that LOL

Chinami won. Chii clocked the 2nd fastest time overall. No.1 was Maimi (overall).
