The AAIB investigation report said that the nose section had detached and was falling separately from the fuselage approx 2-3 seconds after the explosion, not 12 seconds as in this animation, maybe its been slowed down or something but in real time it's not accurate.

I'm pretty sure I was on this flight in oct 1987. I flew Heathrow to Kennedy on Pan Am, but could've been another flight number. Scary stuff. Utterly powerless way to go. I think that's why it's so creepy.
