  • The line about 3 min in about stealing the guys wife and she gets uglier and meaner reminds me of the idiot who took my ex yup he's the winner :D

  • you gotta speak loud when you challenge me. haha

  • Love it! Love the lyrical story!

  • Hey you wouldnt happen have to have Bobby Bare - All The Good Times Are Past And Gone would you? Noone at all has this song on you tube.

  • i still got my ears and my eyes and my 44-40 i'm the winner u ok bobby

  • @duke3632 MOST OF THE PEOPLE I KNOW DO NOT KNOW WHAT A 44-40 IS. TELL ME ABOUT YOURS.

  • written by shel silverstein

  • Anybody who listens to this song and like it is The Winner!

  • I'll never forget my teacher Dr. Marilyn Swango playing this song for all of us at our alternative High School the day before summer break. Our school only consisted of about 60 students so it wasn't too hard to gather us all together. While most of the kids rolled their eyes and didn't pay attention I listened. It actually made a lot of sense then as it does now. I now share the song with my son who is near the same age as I was when I first heard it.

  • i dont want to be a winner

  • No matter how old you are it's still a good song

  • Tiger McCool learned his life lessons the hard way, and he was trying pass that wisdom on those young thunderbirds .. great song !!!!!

  • @ekrubab1 a-men they do not make this kind of music any more

  • Been there done that, both sides

  • $5.99 well spent.

  • "But that woman, she gets uglier and she gets meaner every day. But I got her boy, that's what makes me the winner!" OMG, that's awesome!!!

  • THIS is the BEST kind of country music - no shouting or singing like your tongue tied!

  • Great American music, the true test of music is its longevity and many, many years from now, these songs will still be classics, the question is: Who is gonna fill their shoes?

  • This is a song about Charlie Sheen.

  • Great post.

You wouldn't happen to have his song "You Are" from the "Singing in the Kitchen" LP (Now on CD)?

It use to be in light rotation years ago on the old country station. When I called for it a while back they had no idea what I was talking about.

  • @srussert28 i typed in you are and several songs came up, but maybe not what you are looking for.

  • @rosemarie443 "You Are" by Bobby Bare definitely doesn't come up on many websites. I have heard a blurb from a website that has the "Singing in the Kitchen" record. That proves at least that I have the right LP, Singer and Song. I think there is a "greatest hits" CD out there that has it too. I was hoping someone like you or someone watching who had some Bobby Bare already posted or in there collection, would know exactly what I was talking about and hopefully post it.

  • @srussert28 sorry i can't help you i do not have that song in my colletion, i really hope that you finally find it. yu take care

  • If you don't carry a .45 Colt you are not a man. If you don't haqv eat least 3,00 rouonds of .223 you are not serious about self defense.

  • @allenm1949 You mean in war or in real life?

I'd be better off with a .45 than a little cheaply made Italian 9mm handgun.

  • @allenm1949 well son, ruger does a find job of making guns. but the 45 colt is great. now i assume that you meant 3000 round of amno th 223 is frine for a rifle, but then you should have a good shotgun, you know there is nobody who does not understand the sound the the shoutgun makes when you rack it back. even little people knows what that means. there a lot of fine guns still made in the USA. the best self defense weapon for a woman is a revolver, probably a 38. colt did a fine job withthem

  • @rosemarie443 Yup, I agree. I've known a number of ladies who carried quite a pair of .38s ~ and most of them left me defenseless. ;-) There are some things in life you just can't fight against and would be foolish to try.

  • @FLSHBK1 yeah your right

  • I have been in this situation before. I call it Beer Muscles, the only fight I don't remember is one I thought I thought I won until the next morning when my Army bunkmates informed me different.

  • uncle bud

  • this song was funny back when I was a kid; now it isn't so cute "Too Many nights Alone is a good one.

  • this song was funny back when I was a kid; now it isn't so cute

  • @Jhinson500 why do you think that the lyrics in this song are shitty, have you ever got drunk in a local bar, and talked to loud, and made a ass out of yourself. then when somebody finally got you home, and poured you into bed you finally woke up in the morning, and held your head in your hands and started thinking about just what the hell you did last night. well if you have never been there then you have no idea what this song is about

  • @rosemarie443 ever time i go out lol

  • @rosemarie443 I know that feeling.... That feeling of waking up realy quick looking around to see where you are then everything you did the night befor start coming back to you

  • @rosemarie443

Man your sure right there.........I wonder at times how I made it to my 60's.......

  • 2 weeks later, and this shit still sucks

  • @Jhinson500 then why did you come back. just to see if it was still here? well it will be here for sometime because there some of us that like this song.

  • @Jhinson500 If you don't like it, don't take the time to look it up and listen to it, cocksucker. I bet you like Justin Beiber, right?

  • They rolled away like chickletts on the streets of San Antone....there went his teeth.

  • the trouble with a .357 or most any firearm is that in the close quarters of a bar fight you would be more likely to have it taken away from you and be slapped up a side the head with it than anything and I want to tell you there is nothing more humiliating than to wake up lookin' up the barrel of your own gun, you just lay there praying someone called the cops and they are going to take you away. Believe me, I know.

  • @dutch712 there you go sir, there is something about look down the barrell of a gun from the wrong end that makes you a little afraid. yes you only hope somebody called 911 and that before you get shot the police arrive, that is why i suggested the baseball bat. at least if you hang onto it you might not get hurt to bad. bukt remember you can always do as miy exhusband did he just hid under a table.

  • @Jhinson500 sounds like you called mr. mccool a pussy cat, lol

  • @Jhinson500 Your an idiot.

  • "and God that man was tall"

  • Pretty cool. I used to fight a lot. Now only fight a little because of my ailments. song is good.

  • @rosemarie443 A .357 is better than a baseball bat

  • @rosemarie443 A .357 is better than a baseball bat !

  • @3tndservices you got that right, but there might be a problem trying to carry a .357 into some bars. with a bat you will have no problems. take care

  • This song, and Tom T Hall's "faster horses" are chopped full of wisdom

  • One of a kind, thats for sure.

  • classic..... thank you.

  • when will the idiots who run the show & call the shots ever realize there are still some of us folks who prefer this music over the new stuff ? somebody could make a fortune or at least a tidy lil' sum of money

  • @knoxcountykyman1

I am working on it, but i'm not from north america: thats the problem.

  • @knoxcountykyman1 Noticed how country music ain't been performed by country people since Roy Acuff died? I just listen to the old stuff. It keeps gettin' better!

  • you have got to get xm and start listening to outlaw country. its really amazing

  • @knoxcountykyman1

Someone did, it is called Time Life and they sell CD's. Unfortunately they don't include songs like this. I agree 100% with you. Now it is just what sells the most.

  • @knoxcountykyman1 country is country moron..miley cyrus..brooks and dunn..johnny cash..hank jr & sr...leann rimes iS ALL country don't hate!

  • @22pelvis If you would fight someone over insulted elvis, then I shouldn't be surprised that you are too stupid to figure out how you can find the song's writer.

I'll give you a hint, it starts with "G" and ends with "oogle."

  • @dagomif WE WAS NOT FIGHTING OVER ELVIS SHE SAID THAT I SAID ELVIS SINGS THIS SONG SHES DUMB N ALL I DID WAS ASK WHO WROTE THE SONG CAUSE YOU SAID BOBBY BARE DID NOT WRITE IT SO GOD YOU AND ROSEMARIE443 NEED TOO STOP TALKING SHIT

  • @22pelvis Your other comment, the one that was conveniently removed, was the one where you said you fought some girl because she was dissing elvis.

I'm talking about the fight you were referencing when you said to rosemarie443 "she was 20 n im 13 so i think it was fair fight you dumb cunt..." Oh, and since you don't know the difference between "you're" and "your" (when you responded to gene19651) I really don't think you should be calling anyone a dumb cunt.

  • @22pelvis Shel Silverstein wrote it. He also wrote "a boy named sue" and many others.

  • @coldnub NO HE DIDN'T.

  • @rosemarie443 google it

  • @coldnub like i said NO didn't.

  • @rosemarie443 I'm not going to argue with you, you obviously think that you're right. google shel silverstein.

  • @coldnub OK just let me think what i want to, it should not bother you at all. so take care and have a good Christmas.

  • @rosemarie443 merry christmas to you too!

  • @tcornett5150 Hey man, you should see some of the messages she sent me......

  • Comment removed

  • @22pelvis If you are a 13 year old young lady you really shouldn't be using that kind of language. Remember cussing doesn't make you sound cooler, it only disrespects your parents parenting skills.

  • @22pelvis SHUT UP

  • @rosemarie443 Well, I'll be damned! Talkin' about "stalking". Rose - A bit of advice - Take it or leave it. Do yourself a favor. Don't show your ignorance "all over" You Tube.

  • @denniss265 now denniss did i ever call you names, did i ever say that you were a stupid bitch? and did i ever call you a shithead???? now if you don't know where this answer is coming from it off the song "The Winner" now come on and be nice, lilke you told me you catch more flies with honey, than with bad words.

  • @rosemarie443 You are soooooo right rosemarie. Forgive me.

  • @denniss265 thanks, and take care

  • Y'all know he didn't write this song, right?

  • @dagomif really who did plz tell me ;)

  • are these the real words, or censored? where's the paper bag part?

  • proof of living wisdom

  • thank yuo. my dad loved this song

  • i used to sing this song when i was a little girl and LOVED it...didn't really know what it was about at that time but still thought it was just awesome!

  • Great Song. Thank you. Do you have Me and Bobby McGee by Bobby Bare?

  • i think this is one of bobby bare's best songs next to shame on me, for hurting you

  • What a song ya gotta love it!!

  • i know some folks like that

  • Hope Bobby wisely quit smokin' after he had that picture taken. If not for himself, for those in his life who wanna see him quit. I can think of better ways to die than that, right, gang? Bobby only commits slow suicide with every cigarette he smokes. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg dude shut the fuck up. at the time that this picture was taken it was still socially acceptable to be a smoker. everyone knows the health effects of smoking, and the people that choose to do so don't give a shit about it

  • @Sklurr Cigarette smokers oughta care what smokin' does to them. It's slow suicide, like I said. God bless!

  • @Sklurr you watch your mouth, children listen and rerad this

  • @VIGILANTI1 I'll keep that in mind, thanks. God forbid a kid reads the word "fuck." Have you been living under a rock? There's a hell of a lot worse out there for them to learn than some colorful language. And speaking of children reading this, please correct your spelling. Children are impressionable and may end up believing that it is alright to sound like an uneducated fool. People like you are the reason younger generations are fucking stupid

  • @Sklurr I wouldn't call people stupid. They are just ignorant.

  • agreed, we all are winners in our own way ;D

  • GUESS WE ARE ALL SOME KIND OF WINNERS,THRU LIFE,NO DOUBT

  • I used to listen to this song daily back in the late 70s. My God, it took me 30 some years to finally hear it again. Thanks youtube!!!

  • A SONG WITH A LIL' TRUTH,I BET?

  • with the plastic son

  • Hit #13 in Billboard. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg any idea when this song first came out? man, it is great!!!

  • @x170063 Sure do, my friend. It debuted on the Billboard country chart on Mar. 13 '76. Bobby sure was known for puttin' out some funny songs. right? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg Thank you very much for the info. You have a great week.

  • @x170063 You, too, my friend. God bless!

  • There is so many more songs of his I remember from being a youngster, the mermaid, rest a while. I don't remember all the names, but do the songs. I remember seeing him in concert in the 70s when I was like 10 or 12, in some ski resort in Wa. state. He is one of the first outlaws, and one of the last we have left.

  • I think this must've been the inspiration for "gimmie three steps" written a few years later..

  • Oh my gosh, I loved this song when it came out and STILL LOVE IT!!! Bless you for posting it.

  • been there-done that

  • This song is older then 1976 . I heard this song in 1968 or 1969 . I was 15 or 16 years old and was to young to drive . iI was a passenger in a pick up . Its rattled around my head all these years . ITS STILL A DAM GOOD SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Had this song in my head for 30 years.

  • I sit here and laugh at the song. Something to think about.
