Im still sad over losing reggie lewis, he was my favorite player besides michael jordan. I know Reggie was no jordan, but he was to me because i am from boston, and always loved the celtics...
I met Reggie when I was 14 at the Northeastern Husky basketball summer camp. Everyone wanted to see him dunk. I wanted to see him play. I even got to match up with him one-on-one. Man could he move for a small forward then. I got to see him in a lot of games at Northeastern. From 1983-1987 the talk of college basketball in Boston wasn't just BC, it was also Northeastern and Reggie Lewis. 4 straight North Atlantic Conferences championship and 4 straight NCAA appearences!!!
Reggie died from a heart attack after the doctors gave him the O.K. to play when he had previous heart problems. I was there when he collapsed on the court. He was a great one but had to sit and wait because he had Bird,Parish and McHale in front of him on that team. I'm a Celtic fan and always will be just to let you know. The death of Len Bias and his death fucked up the Celtics for years that's why that long gap between championships.
It did. I'm a huge Celtics fan. If they had Bias and Lewis, there never would have been a drop off. Bird could have probably played until the mid to late 90's.
if i remember correctly they were playing the hornets when reggie collapsed, and alonzo mourning quit playing and tried to help reggie. i always respected zo after that
@reg12269 wont ride rose's jock for i look forward to destroying him in the playoffs. i say lewis was a more atletic and explosive version of paul pierce! y do we diss pierce so much. the man gets the job done. have you seen his dunks lately? reggie had a great mid-range game and was a great swingman. played lots of 2 til bird retired or was hurt then slid to the 3 most of the time. reggie was becoming a great defender at the end as well. loved his pull-ups!
@reg12269 thats the thing people dont hate pierce just cuz.. they hate him cuz he roast defenders 24/7 he's not fast and he's older than most young guys and still is a winner just like larry bird
that what i was thinking about when paul got stabbed... first len, then reggie, now pierce. thank god pierce made it. too bad there wasn't an aging reggie lewis there to watch us win it.
I apologize, and in fact, I think I should totally learn from a guy like you. A guy who makes a joke about a human being who almost died. My gosh, how that really makes people laugh their asses off.
Your right LeBron can't win by himself but he sure acts like an asshole by himself the way he left the court after getting eliminated. Little leauge kids don't act like that after losing.
Imagine the starting 5 with 'The Chief' Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, Larry Bird, Reggie Lewis, and Len Bias, not only a great lineup, but with Dennis Johnson, etc. a lot of depth.
@edge418 Bunch of forwards??? ROFL!! Robert Parish was a 7 foot center his NBA Career stats Points 23,334 Rebounds 14,715 Blocks 2,357 He's in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2003) 4× NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986, 1997)
9× NBA All-Star The Chief was was known for his strong defense and jump shooting, he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1997, Parish was also named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.
mdmoulds-I read your comment .Shaq has played ball his whole life and was 6'6 at age 13 with a size 17shoe. So what do you think his size is because of steroids or he does drugs like coke or something. If you think the teams in the N.B.A. don't take drug tests on their own players your out of your mind. He would be out on his ass if that was the case especially where he has played for so many teams. No team would trade for or sign him without testing him first. How was that comment?
Niave... How many undetectable steroids are there? If you had any brains at all you would realise that steroids enhance whatever training the user is partaking. Runners get faster, bodybuilders get bigger... That doesnt make basketballers get taller. Tool!
Thank you SO MUCH for puttnig this clip up. I've been an enormous Reggie Lewis fan since I was a kid, and I'd been having difficulty finding any footage about Reggie online. I"m a lifelong Celtics fan living in Los Angeles - so rest assured, after the C's came back in Game 4, I was walking around town in my vintage Reggie Lewis #35 jersey the next day. I've had it for 15 years, and finally, Reggie gets his due respect. This title was for Reggie . . .
The Early-Mid 90s would've looked like this..
Robert Parish
Kevin McHale
Larry Bird
Len Bias
Reggie Lewis
Dee Brown
Kevin Gamble
etc.
They've would've taken 1-3 titles from 1987-1993, had Bias not died they'd be NBA champs in 87 and maybe 88
