Can someone tell me which is better the pod or the boss gt 10 is better? Im deciding to buy one but if anyone knows anything better than both of them can someone telle me ;]
I've never played a GT 10 before, however, I do have a GT 6 and I just got a pod x3 live for Christmas and I will say that in comparing those two, the Line 6 is FAR more user friendly. So, unless BOSS has drastically changed their floor modulators (which they may have), I would go with the x3 live. I also have a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL and I can get just as good of tone out of my x3 as I can out of that and I have yet to scratch the surface on what all the pod can do. Hope that helps.
Presets are only starting points. Unless you've got the same guitar and the same output amplification device they use when they make their presets then you will find that the presets will need to be tweaked to suit your rig. You should *never* evaluate one of these things based on their presets but rather what you can do with it with your own gear.
musicthingz - the POD X3 is better than you apparently think... waaaay better. Do you really NEED someone to dial in your gear for you? As others have said, but should be common sense, the presets are just a starting point - the REAL magick is in dialing in your own sounds. Learn how to do it and it can sound AMAZING. It's not that hard to do... but then again, the world needs ditch diggers too.
Pod X3's arent for people who want to buy something for their base tones. Pod X3's are for people who will sit there and fiddle with it and adjust the settings to find their own tones. What sounds good for one might not sound good for the other.
You also have to take into account guitar, pickups, tuning, string gauge, picks, picking style, the player, room acoustics etc.
i like to play metal. and i dont know which sound i like better for metal. 2002 Criminal or Line 6 Insane.

Kevin Dukes uses a Variax on several of these edisodes. What guitars does he model for each one?

Those are some pretty extreme settings. Sounds pretty good to my ears though.

If Line 6 set their presets to good tones , or made alot of these videos ..their precious POD X3 would sell alot more.
