At the end of GoW 1, Kratos became the god of war. At the beginning of GoW2, it's explained that he was a worse god than Ares, and the olympians were slowly beginning to hate him. Zeus feared the prophecy that he would be defeated by his son (which is kratos) just as his father (Kronos) was defeated by Zeus. So, Zeus tricked kratos into sacrificing his godhood to be able to use the blade of olympus (the big blue sword), but killed kratos anyway. That's why kratos hates zeus.
