Try getting him to trot the jump, have a flat back over the jump and dont yank his mouth, you should get him a harder bit if he keeps acting like that...
@blonde977 That's exactly what I did already but thanks for the advice :) I wasn't yanking his mouth much at all and I don't believe that a strong bit is always the answer with a difficult horse. I started using a halter with Oli and he was sooo much better.

@Bucklesluva Well you really have to trust the horse you are riding and have a good seat. I suggest practicing without stirrups. You also have to be comfortable in the trot because there's a good chance you will have to sit a jack hammer trot right after the canter xD And that's when most people fall off haha. It helps if you have a horse with smooth gaits.
@Horses4Ever45 haha ii've taken my feet out of the stirrups RIGHT after we start trotting after the canter, lol, i haven't fallen but I've ended up around their neck! and its alot easier for me to stay on bareback for some reason! lol

@EmAndPico09 Thank you soo much xD I love it too! Haha I know I was quite proud of him for being a brave boy! The only thing he was really scared of was the happy birthday banner blowing in the wind! He even sniffed one of the balloons (if you look closely in the one clips you can see). That was the goal was you or your horse had to touch the scary obstacle or walk three times around it :P
@lukelover6996 I know! He is amazing! I rode him in from the pasture a couple times in the halter and I realized that he's really quite responsive to it! I'm going to try riding him with just the halter in the arena and see what he does. He'll either be his normal naughty self and I will have problems because he is normally strong even with the bit or he will be very happy and good haha ;) we'll see!

cool! i have to ask, how is it cantering bareback? i've been riding bareback for a little over a year but i haven't cantered bareback yet, any tips?
