  • Awesome message, man!

  • Well bud, I think that truck driving or truck drivers should be able to handle alot of probs. Becs we're out in places we have never been, seeing places we thought we will never see. But if u don't respect the truck and those who run them u really won't last long in this business. I agree wit u 100% don't let bad people drive u from whats really important. Being a better u.

I hope anyone that's thinking of becoming a drive think well before u drive, stay safe before u drive and if all fails pr

  • @coriwho1 Ur prob not gonna blieve this but all things r possible in trucking. Just b4 his parole from a murder charge ended, my cousin got his HazMat and started delivering hi octane gasoline & home heating oil to NYC police precincts. He got his CDL from Model Driving School [where I got mine 22 yrs ago/charg u per lessn] and they gave him placement openings & with the help of his PO started making $20+ an hr with union benefits. Don't let anyone stop u from living ur dreams.

    pr

  • HI!

I have a few questions for you, because i was thinking of trucking.

1 Whats ths worst and best thing about trucking

2 Whats the pay like for a newbie. (per mile)

3 How long have you been trucking.

4 Do your arms get tired at the wheel.

    5 Ever get back problems.

    6 How long is training.

    Great video!

  • i think you have a higher calling in your future.if you are in Detroit in the next few weeks. stop at the ABC supply on 8 mile. it would be nice to meet someone that care's.

  • @Boogonomotry thanks

  • Jus started school (3wks) and it dont seem like ima be able to understand the log book. I study crazy hard. I kno that if other drivers can do it i definetly can.

Jus wanted to kno if the time im spendin freting an studing is bein wasted, when i should be focused on pretrip and drophooks more?

I jus wanna ace the part riding with the statey. As you kno im sure, WE dont do to well ridin with the boys (im nervous jus thinkn bout it)

  • @fillybang5 I think you are sweating it too much man. The logbook is easier than it seems. When you go over it in school you'll get it. Study your pre-trip steps.

Most people feel nervous a little getting in that truck. It's a new deal. Try to breathe deeply a few times while telling yourself, "calm down calm down calm down, it's nothing" . I was a little apprehensive at first too, said to myself, "what am I doing in this truck!" 2 weeks later, I was volunteering to go first for evrything

  • I'm digging your vids. I drive a TV production truck and have 17 yrs exp. Where were you when I started. I had only substandard folks around me in trucking. I have had to climb up above these folks and seperate myself. WOW! Keep on Keeping on!

  • @pilottb9 lol, thats ok, it just made it even more rewarding for you!

  • dude!! this is the first time I have ever made a comment on yutube! what a baddass vid!!! THANK YOU!

  • @zombiesquadmamber no way! THANK YOU!

  • I've been interested in becoming a truck driver for a while now. I've been living in the same area with the same people for about 10 years and I'm sure you understand that it can become a real personal struggle after awhile. I'm anxious to start trucking so i can travel and meet new people and have new experiences while being payed and reasonable salary but unfortunately I'm too young right now. Thanks for the advice though. You seem like a pretty wise person. :)

  • @Fleshy91 Oh, well the main thing is that have a plan man. In the meanwhile, keep yourself above the drama and brush them haters off when they try to clown you for having ambition and a dream. Don't let any of them influence you to cut your dream short.

Your record will become more and more relevant not only to the job but other aspects of life. People will say what they accomplished with this on their record etc. Times are changing fast. And watch what you post on social networks too FYI

  • you are very wise in my opinion. in fact, i just stumbled upon your video and i could not agree more with you. I was just thinking this exact point!!! A change of environment is almost crucial to get out of bad habits. I hope it works for me. thank you for this video, you really dont know how right on you are. thanks.

  • @Zurnmusic Thanks Z. It will work for you. I feel great determination from your keyboard! You will achieve your goals because you want it and you know it's possible. Just keep moving forward and grab you some motivational CD's to stay on point.

  • As I was searching around videos I tumbled into this which caught my attention. The message in this video is essential. I envoy and admire on how the importance of changing yourself and your environment is expressed on this video. The base of elemental foundation truly is goodhearted motives to improve everything around you. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work. All the best….

  • @Blazestrongbahman1 too kind

  • spoken from the heart, good job man

  • keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down

  • @countrymusicgtavboy2 lol, that's what my Dad says. peace.

  • Stay safe out there. Thanks for all the videos.

  • @MrBasilGanglia Thanks for your gratitude. Take care

  • I totally enjoy your videos, love the positiveness you bring forth! Keep posting man, the world needs more people like you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts/wisdom and life with us here in youtubeland!

  • @BigDTripp thanks

  • Keep on Truckin' The man is trying to speak from the heart...thumbs up. I'm starting up my own episodes as well...

  • @FlatbedMike I see u Mike. Thanks

  • Uh niggers bout to do some otr. Is there a weight limit to what you can carry? Askin cause I wanna bring a 50 pound dumbell

  • @ICUnigger no limit. 50lbs should be fine, I carry 2 30lb dumbells

  • Thanks so much! This video you made is really helpful. You sure do know how to encourage people to reach for their full potential and not give up.

  • @stillsavinglives thanx man, keep reaching!

  • GOD BLESS YOU DUDE, REALLY. IT IS FUNNY HOW SOME PEOPLE JUST HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE LIKE THROUGH OTHERS EYES, BUT I THINK THEY NEEDED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AT SODDAM AND GOMORAH WHEN THEY JUST NEEDED A FEW DESCENT PEOPLE TO SAVE THE CITIES.

  • @TheKyla1981 just a messenger man, I hope plenty are saved but we know who really getting it done right. Thanks for the feedback

  • I knew what to expect when I first started driving. I picked up some bad habits and i want to stay away from them.. I got a possible job with Swift transportation and I want to make the best of it; My first driving job in over a year. Im know at home for im working to get my blood pressure under control. Im not discouraged. I am determined to make it. I refuse to let people critize me or put me down for doing what is best for me. I know I can do it. Thank you for posting this video

  • @haynes1776 Sounds like your getting it together man. Good luck and make sure you get on that good food diet. High blood is serious. And companies will start treating it that way soon. You right you can do whatever you put your mind to.

  • Good message man

  • @Mekonen1 thanks

  • Allready my brother

  • @W00dWill Allready

  • for new truckers how do they adjust to learning their routes? do they use gps?

  • @DaMostEnigmatic Many have gps now but some guys will deliver to the same place over and over in time and so learn the routes. Most don't visit the same place often enough with large companies though so you don't learn the route to the door of companies but to the cities they are in.

It's easier than you think. You'll learn the highway route from city to city with no problem.

  • I'm not sure of the name of the person in this video but I have a question if he can read this,

is truck driving dangerious? Have you ever been robbed? bothered by the insane on the highway? that type of deal?

  • @MoonSideMKDS Trucking is dangerous mostly because of the number of mile that you drive. Drive as defensive as possible make the risk as low as you can.

The other stuff you mentioned is not that big of a deal. Things happen, people get robbed, etc but it's far more infrequent than if you were living at home in a bad neighborhood. Just doesn't happen that much.

Neva had problems in 13 yrs

  • @908Jersey187 Do you realize how foolish your making yourself look? Do you understand that your attempts to put someone you don't know down you are actually only making yourself look bad. Wake up my friend and learn to enjoy life. When your attitude improves things will get a lot better for you and you can stop hating others. The void you have in your heart can't be filled by negativity, try the good book

  • @908Jersey187 you're born without feelings?

  • swifty with 3 months on the road...guaranteed

  • nice video...thanks

  • You right bout that,im getting into trucking too, good message bro!!

  • I like this video, I think that i would like tobe a trucker.

  • I totaly agee with what he is saying here. Getting on the open road will allow one of broaden ones perspective,it will give you the time to take stock in yourself. Its good to see a Brother sharing words of encouragment to others, so far here, some 8,981 people. Yes, i saw some of the other racist remarks left here, but thats going to happen, thats a fact of life, but enough about that. I work in critical care, saving people in a different way, but we are both saving people in some way.

  • yo dis dude speaking the truth!!

  • thanks.....i need that message......

  • very positive man! great video! i just recently got out of a long destructive "relationship" with my old life.... everything you say in this vid is the truth....

u DEF cannot stay in the same environment... or same circles.... its IMPOSSIBLE.... to change...

  • yea you sound like 50 bruh hahahaha, but thats a good alternate thats what i did bruh and so far im successful, like d vid keep posting, check mine out

  • Hey lifeasa trucker, you make some really positive comments. I'm thinking about truck driving and doing all the research I can before I make a firm decision. I just want to be sure to stay away from truck driving school scams that promise grants and the world only to find that I'll be responsible for open-ended promises. Anyway keep on truckin and good to see a positive view.

  • man u sound like 50 cent real talk..but i like the message!!!

  • Lol, I don't know how you figure I sound like 50 but glad you dig the message.

  • i lost my job by a random piss test i still have my cdl but is my trucking career over can i land a nother job driving help

  • if that is the only thing, you may have to wait a year but I would say your career is over. You will have a smaller number of companies that will hire though man.

Just stay clean and don't throw in the towel. No matter what you are going to do, staying clean will help you out in the long run to get to where you want to be in life man so stay strong.

  • thanx for the help i got a call from jb and thay said i'll have to waite a year thay whould keep my app so there maybe hope left again thanx and god bless

  • Just because you go to a driving school, get a cdl,and land a job...that does NOT make you a DRIVER. Truck drivers can get a bad rep from a few people playing super trucer.

  • so true

  • from 3:12 to 3:20 he ran out of words lol. but good piont

  • Lol, yep, happens all the time! (people seem not to believe that though)

  • what if the ridicule is coming from your family?

  • djmined which fam are you talking about. Wife and kids or brothers and cousins. Mom and Dad.

End of the day, whoever it is. YOu know what is right what is wrong and which activities lead to what likely outcome.

The ridicule is usually of ignorance or of hate.

YOu don't have to stoop to the level of the people ridiculing you but please don't let it stop you from making changes you know you need to make. If your relationship with family members must suffer to make those changes, so be it.

  • wat truckn skool did u go to?? and were they the ones that offered u the job? or did u go elsewhere?

  • I went to Alliance man down in Benson NC.

No I found, my own job. Actually a friend of mind found my job cause I was slipping about to slip back into some other things i was doing before trucking sc hool.

My homie and trucking was a blessing.

  • im glad to see you made it out man, streets aint about nothin, thats why i got my cdl.now im looking for work

  • shut up dumbass,i hate you racist muthafuckas, and so what we come from the ghetto, you come from a trailer in the caucus mountains

  • Caucusus mountains have dark featured people (Arabic looking) Nice try on the history,

There are black truckers, who dont act this ghetto shit. This flat brimmed hat this guy is wearing has absolutely no purpose in trucking and will only impinge on his sight.

Only a fag "Hood" trash fag would wear that while trucking

  • what ever dude, but no one is better that anyone

  • exactly and thats why isubscribed i feel as tho this guy is a good role model he's only speaking about real life and reaching out to people that need some motivation an inspiration you sound like a very hatefull person i dont get it african americans need more black dudes like this to look up to and your talking about a fucking hat face it blacks are different then white we act different dress different but still want mostly the same things hat or no hat he's doing what it takes to be successful

  • @9tiin 10/4. What did you end up finding?

  • @lifeasatrucker im going with ffe.sorry for late response

  • u make good ass points ma brotha...! ur right... i learnd bout this stuff n some program i had to go to...

im no addict of any sort btw...

  • i couldnt have said it better myself , it takes self disaplin i cant spell lol but stop your ba habbits its worth it man get CDL make something out of your self i just got my CDL in minnesota driveing foor swift hardwork get out what you puy in thanks great vid man

  • Congratulations Duckslayer! If you run across Garnet Powell down in Eden NC swift terminal tell him I said Hello.

  • 452mike1986 Well starting out over the road you'll make from .28 cents per mile to .30 cents per mile.(don't plan on .30 starting out) .28cpm x 2000 = $560 gross. .28cpm x 3000 = $840 gross per week. Average 2500 miles a week at .28cpm is $700 x 52 weeks a year that's $36,400 a year gross. Some weeks you run hard and get 3600 miles some weeks suck and you get 1500-2000.Decent money with a good company, attitude and desire to work hard.

  • this is a spot on video in my opinion so good job and good advise and keepem commin, the thing that makes this vid. good is it looks like you yourself has battled some demons in your day and that makes your advise alot better.

  • very well said. great video.

  • i need help finding a job blood you showed me alot jest with the vid i now what your talking about bad habits runing the streets big backing gang life i want more for my kids iv been away from gangs putting my kids first i need help finding a job im in cdl school i will be done soon keep macking videos intell we meet p-love

  • your very cool dude

    i like the inspriration

    you owner operator?

  • you real inspirational brother,I got my cdl in February now I'm looking for work I got a forgery charge on my criminal record from 2004 any advise on that?Keep it coming..........

  • Hey craymill, I don't think that should keep you from being able to get a job as a driver.

visit a truckstop and grab one of though trucking magazines with all the companies listed. Call them and see what there response is to that.

I think you will be fine.

During interview own up to the mistakes of the past and let them know that it IS the past. demonstrate by the way you carry yourself that you have matured and that they can expect a different type of person if they hire you! Good luk

  • when i lost my dump trucking job due to company going under that is how i found my new flatbed job with smx

  • (GOD bless u man) me too i want to be a truck driver i 37years i work on receiving for 5 years where i see all those 53"truckers coming to me , well one thing they are happy because i unloaded the truck fast so they can go do more loads ,, your thougs inspire me and to others. five stars for u and keep more videos to see ..

  • Thanks man. God bless u too.

and thanks for getting us empty! You have no idea how much we appreciate when the people on the dock actually act like they give a sh@!. LOL

so when you gonna get out here?

  • How much does Truck Driving pay? from State to State. when you first start. Estimate the least to the most.

  • $30,000 - $40,000 first year

    $35,000 - $45,000 second year

average job with dry van over the road 2 to 3 weeks at a time with a good driving record.

  • Amen brother, that is the problem where I work. You are in control of YOUR future. Like the Army says; Be All You Can Be.

  • no doubt

    holla

  • hey man i really appreciate this one... i applied the whole "you can make the change" thing to school... this really REALLY inspired me. im 16, 2 years until i can get my CDL. im sure im getting it and im sure truck driving is what im GOING to do. i just picked up the CDL manual from the dmv and i'm gonna be in it 24/7. you got any advice for kids like me?

  • ditto ... i can tell u one thing KEEP ur record clean i got 2 years till 18 too and u gotta keep a clean driving record this means no accidents eather.

  • Yep you said it, the better the record the better the job you can get which mean better benefits and more money.

  • Yeah buddy,

keep thinking for yourself like your doing instead of following what everyone else does. Sounds like your on the right path already.

Other than that as far as your plans to truck. Take care of your license and if your near a community college and have spare time take a business class so that if you decide to become an owner operator you will understand the business aspect of it. Many owner ops that fail, fail because they don't understand the business side of it. You'll be fine

  • Stay around positive people. Remember that just because you see the right the light, if you spend more time in the wrong environment than the right you can be pulled down easier than you can pull someone else up.

So you need to keep positivity around you if you want to stay on course.

Doesn't mean you have to abandon your friends if they are a bad influence just regulate your time in that environment and don't let peer pressure ruin your dreams.

and ask them what they want for their lives

  • As a truck driver you must have seen alot of amazing scenery all over America

  • You pretty much said the only word to describe it.

    Amazing.

  • man i wish more people would take this advice....i lived in bham a large part of my life and nothing was around me but drugs hoes music parties alcohol....and then i just prayed to God "do what ever it takes for me to get out of this" and the next thing you know im living in the country....now im thinking of getting my cdl no to get away but to just i dont know why i want to i just do....again thnx for this video.....you should be a youth minister....i dont know if you believe in Jesus but...

  • "Failure means you're one step closer to success." That's a powerful quote. Like you said in the video, it's something we all have to keep in mind to improve ourselves and this world we share.

  • lol, yeah, i need to slow down and pay attention to my work after i'm done. Not too long ago realized the typo in the video.

I need to improve my quality control. lol

  • I started to steriotype this guy at first and close this video because of his gangsta style looks, sorry man, I am glad I watched the whole video. Excellent advise and drive safe.

P.S. Might wanna let that signal flash a few more times when changing lanes! LOL

  • haha. Thanks for giving me a chance750! Yeah, I am pretty hard to judge. But I love blowing away people's first impression it helps to keep people open minded and resist acting upon their first assessment. And you did great! LOL

Oh, and I just change lanes quickly!

  • I'm definitely loving the videos bro, and you're most certainly telling the truth. I really admire what you guys do. I've always wanted to drive but no school would except me for the fact that I've been living overeas. Keep the videos coming!

  • How long you been stateside now?

oh, why is that, is that a homeland security issue or what?

  • Thanks for writing back. All of the schools that I contacted had a problem for the fact that they can't verify my driving record. I'm back overseas now and would definitely head back if a school accepts me.

  • the change comes from within hand ,,,,,ive driven thse things for many years , it has steadily gone down hill, all you can do is set an example to others out there ( some of those out there, im sure need a strong right hand ) keep up the good work , dont allow your dispatcher stress you to much

    "problem child"

  • thanx agent 287. dipatchers can't get to me man!:0)

  • Lol, gggggg unit

  • yo u like like fifty cent drivin that truck dude lol good shit though

  • WHAT ,,,,,,you mean to tell me , drivers have bad habits ?

  • lol

  • That's so true. It's hard to make changes, but even harder if no one around you can offer support. Great advice. Thank you for the videos.

  • No thank you for watching and commenting!

  • Hope everyone has a great memorial day

  • naw,had to work. can't wait to get out of the navy and get back trucking.

I love you tube. I am watchn a trucker from the states at my work in melbourne, australia. The truth is the truth no matter where u r from:) I love that.

  • Yeah, I know that is soooo hot. I love it too.

What other means would have us to be sitting here communicating and with a common point of interest. When the internet first jumped off I was like this is gonna be incredible and it really is.

Hey your welcome I did a whole cd actually I am gonna see if i can get all of yall checking me out to down load it and giveme some feedback on it.

  • damn right man. thats how i quit smokin. both weed n cigs. plus i had been sellin a bit on the side for a few years... and after i completely removed myself from that enviroment i was able to change my bad habits ALOT easier. you got good advice man and alot of really deep shit to say haha keep'em comin bro. we need more drivers out there like you.
