I don't know why some of you are pissing and moaning. Sure, WT was out long before Evanescence, but come on, guys, they're both INCREDIBLY talented women with amazing voices. And their styles are so similar, I think its great that Sharon den Adel was such an influence on Amy Lee, and frankly they're so equivalent in raw talent I think the people saying one is better than another are obviously just not very open-minded. They're both really, really amazing! So no more complaining! Listen and love!
Evanescence is better BUT I love both bands.... I don't know why we must complain them... they both make good music, and I think, it's better if we're just listening to this music, not complaining....(sorry for my bad english, I'm not native speaker, I've just started to learn it)

This video is pointless. And Within Temptation started long time before Evanescence, they've been always a REAL band, and they have demonstrated they are great composers and performers.
In my opinion Evanescence (well Amy Lee now) has a long way to run to be at their level. And I'm a huge fan of Ev as well, but there are things you can't deny.

I think it's rather unfair to compare bands, it doesn't matter around what time bands began or anything, because no band is like any other band, they are all individual bands. Why do you compare old ToT, (even old WT) with Evanescence? Their music was totally different. Do you really find so many similarities between, for example, "Velvet Darkness They Fear" and "Fallen" or "Origin"? I don't.

About every artist uses autotune software in the studio. Why? Because there is always one little thing that could be a little bit better. I don't detest autotune, I praise it. It is just a piece of software that makes music sound better. It's just a step you do in the mixing process. Sounds like a good reason to me to use it.
@becharles79 She actually can sing live.The problem is that she jumps around a lot. That makes her go off key sometimes but do watch her acoustic sessions where she sits and sings and she sounds amazing!

When both bands make you shiver throughout the entire song of all of their songs...you can't choose. lol I had just heard of wt not too long ago..But boy had I been missing out!Idk which I like better of the two
No one can be said as better than the other! both possess their own style and both compete very well... though being a dutch band it's really cool that within temptation has come up with more modern singles like Frozen (: we are then just left with personal preferance that's where Evanescence rides my heart (: no offense to within temptation lovers cause i love both !!!

Both are good. I think I prefer WT because their songs are more upbeat than Evanescence's. Their songs have a more diverse topic matter, like war or death or love or fantasy. Evanescence's songs tend to be really depressing and moody, and I'm just not in the mood for that 24/7.
I don't know who's the better singer. I would enjoy Sharon more if she got a little more vocal training for her high notes, but I can't stand Amy's mumbling or constant headbanging.

But Ive grown tired and bored of the same constant beats, and same song structure. Ans Ben praises song structure as if it were the best thing ever to walk this earth. As I have grown, I have learned to like songs with more complex song structures, like Nightwish. and, of course, the open door.

Since both bands are my favorite I don't think it's cool to dis either one but I guess it's your own opinion that matters. I think the two voices are on their own different levels of talent so they shouldn't be compared. Both bands are great, and both singers I swear have angelic voices. I'd love to see a real compilation, both singers doing something together. They would sound so good.
To me, WT are symphonic metal whereas Evanescence are gothic rock, I prefer s.metal to g.rock to be honest, it's all about personal choice, I think both are just as talented - both Sharon and Amy are ace.
Thought I'd add that WT have been around longer if any didn't know.
La! Both amazing bands! I love both of them sooo much! I admit, Amy isn't very good live, but Sharon doesn't do too well either. Then again, Amy is all over the stage when she sings, and Sharon doesn't move.

Within temptation good band and epic songs. Evanescence is emo to me though. Like its alwys about sadness. There are a couple songs that are really good that i can get into w/o listening to the lyrics. but thats me. 5/5

I don't understand the comparison between WT and Eva... They don't sound similar at ALL. I like Eva, but at least WT's singer doesn't need a fucking autotuner everywhere they go. Did you hear Amy Lee sing on the tonight show a while back? God it was a horrible screeching cacophony. She got ZERO applause.

both of these bands are amazing i think evanescence and within tempation are very similar but totally different, so they are just all around awesome. i personally and a huge fan of both, so please COME TO AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!

No one can be said as better than the other! both possess their own style and both compete very well... though being a dutch band it's really cool that within temptation has come up with more modern singles like Frozen (: we are then just left with personal preferance that's where Evanescence rides my heart (: no offense to within temptation lovers cause i love both !!!

Both are good. I think I prefer WT because their songs are more upbeat than Evanescence's. Their songs have a more diverse topic matter, like war or death or love or fantasy. Evanescence's songs tend to be really depressing and moody, and I'm just not in the mood for that 24/7.
I don't know who's the better singer. I would enjoy Sharon more if she got a little more vocal training for her high notes, but I can't stand Amy's mumbling or constant headbanging.

@fallen138angel the ones you listed, except taking over me, are the only fallen songs I like. And Ironically enough, I know the lyrics to all of fallen. I guess I used to like that album. But Ive grown tired and bored of the same constant beats, and same song structure. Ans Ben praises song structure as if it were the best thing ever to walk this earth. As I have grown, I have learned to like songs with more complex song structures, like Nightwish. and, of course, the open door.

Since both bands are my favorite I don't think it's cool to dis either one but I guess it's your own opinion that matters. I think the two voices are on their own different levels of talent so they shouldn't be compared. Both bands are great, and both singers I swear have angelic voices. I'd love to see a real compilation, both singers doing something together. They would sound so good.

Both bands are awesome but:
Within Temptation>Evanescence
To me, WT are symphonic metal whereas Evanescence are gothic rock, I prefer s.metal to g.rock to be honest, it's all about personal choice, I think both are just as talented - both Sharon and Amy are ace.
Thought I'd add that WT have been around longer if any didn't know.

roflman659: No one's copying anyone. They're both unique bands. I'd check Wikipedia to see who's a higher soprano singer, because I've never heard of a "saprano", and please clarify "Level 1" and "Level 2". I thought soprano 1 was highest, soprano 2 lower.

Im my opinion Amy Lee and Sharon are bothe very beautiful and talented. Ev and WT both have different styles so I don't think it's fair to compare them but they are both very talented bands and both deserve equal praise

I don't understand the comparison between WT and Eva... They don't sound similar at ALL. I like Eva, but at least WT's singer doesn't need a fucking autotuner everywhere they go.
