I watched this machine work all my young life - 1950's on up. This is near Harrisville, OH. We used to drive up to Rt. 250 on Sundays and watch it. Gypsy610
Back in 2002 Me and my pareants whent to cadiz at ten pm to watch this and we were back in the mine on the ackse road and some guy in a bulldover tried to trow us out but some person who worked there let us stay R.I.P SILVER SPADE
ive actually seen the silver spade in person when i was in high school. my step-dad hauled coal out of that mine. these videos are a nice tribute but i cant put into words of the sheer size of the silver spade. i was there the day before they took it across 519 where it be scrapped a few years later. its a shame to see something with so much history go.
I remembr mi unkle tellin me how the covrd the hi-way with dirt before they moved a P & H 5700 over the othr side of the road to mine coal.

@sneezabonk Hell, didn`t you watch the whole vid? It took 10 min to cross the road but for preparations was a lot longer.

when you look at something like that you'd never think it is all electric and it has a huge extension cord. its unwinding as it goes across the road.

I wish I could have been there to see this

@hwoods01 So do some research before you go commenting without a brain!
GECP4256 10 months ago
@GECP4256 Yeah, I guess if a machine such as this could never exist then Big Muskie and The Captain and many others could never have either.
