  • i love these lifts the best ones at hampsted on the northen line realy realy fast tryed to get a vidio of it but ther was a driver who got in the lift just as i was about to get my camara out one day tough ill get a vidio *****

  • Haha, yeah same here, the again, if these were installed today they'd be out of order and just about big enough to fit 2 large people. Back then when it was used to take many people in the war down to the subways used as shelters they needed massive elevators to get loads of people down there. I am suprised that these have never been out of order since I have seen them carrying 100,000 people a day, Thanks.

  • @harrihealey02 thats a huge lift i wonder how many can fit in it

  • WOW! That's a LONG ass elevator! DAMN!!

  • Yeah, very big. I'm going to do a retake soon. Great comment!

  • DAM. That's long. Big Mama or a car can fit in!!!! HAHA

  • Haha, I think it's one of the biggestI have seen. I want to film this again with my new camera and mabey rde the lift up and down to get the sounds and atmosphere of them. Good Joke!

  • is it traction or hydraulic

  • Obviously Traction, These are very oldlifts and didn't have hydraulic back then!

  • when was this elevator installed?

  • Otis the guy who invented the first elevators. belive it or not hes my great great grand father

  • Really, That's very cool!! If he were to be alive now and see these wonderful lifts we have now he would be very pleased!.

  • my mom knows Otis jewish name! and ya Otis was jewish.

  • This lift is bigger than my bedroom at home how many people does it hold ?

  • I know, bigger tn my room! and it can hold up to 50 people.

  • I didn't realise its as big as that.

  • I know, Next time I go on the underground i'll be sure to film some more :)

  • bigger than mine too!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, Biggest in london pobably.

  • Have been in this one plenty of times. I remember once there was a poster which mentioned something about "Claustrophobia" which cracked me up.

  • oh lol, well I don't think anyone would get Claustrophobia walking into this lift at it's amazing size.

  • I have a soft spot for these large Tube lifts, they are heavily used and under appreciated. Great Video!

  • Thanks, I don't realy have a soft spot because I know there toughj and strong but I have a soft spot for those elevators that have been demolished and were realy nice and smooth riding then taken ayway left to install a new one, no necesarly better than the old one wich I have seen.

  • Was this the 'Healey Family Excursion?'

  • mm, not sure. Never realy looked it up but I think it should have something about elevators in it because I realy like them.
