Funny thing I discovered yesterday at the first meeting with Ellie. You can actually steal the slasher blades from the corpses Ellie killed. Not particularly useful though since there's only one leaper at this encounter. But still that got me thinking if we can actually use slasher blades in the brute fight.

Hey I got one for you. In the elevator were the necro drops on you (unitology church) if you shoot out the vent cover he will never drop. This might be helpful for ppl who don't use reaper. One PC ammo is worth relaxing elevator ride right?
I was doing well until the stage in the nursery. After killing the pack and the crawlers two dark slashers came out! That had never happened before. I killed one of them but the other one got me. Time to take a break.
Omg I died like 10 times on Zealot fighting the horde (practicing for hardcore). Who would have thought that you can just run around the room for 50 sec and get past it painlessly O_O. That damn room was my only snag so far. (Oh yah fuk leapers! So damn cheap). Anyway thx again for walkthrough, very competent.
I give up. It's just too damn hard. Everything he does in the video I do. The Necros just spawn in different areas. To top that off, my hatred for zits, monsters, creates, barrels, line guns, anything dealing with space, health packs, limited(3) saves, doors that take a hell of a long time to open, monsters that can instantly kill you, random spawn points, MW3, stasis... Oh, boy... The list goes on baby! My hatred is raging! Damn it! Frustrated Grunt! Sad Face!
It's annoying. I got an xbox so I got to disk 2 and got a free save. Then planted my first save before solar arrays. First half of the game is pretty easy imo

Put a second save before before the big room in chapter 11 just because there are way too many random spawns there including exploders jumping out of vents right on top of you. The last save before the needle not cuz i was afraid I'll insta die but cuz that's where regenerator starts chasing after you and I wanted to make sure I don't waste too much HP/Ammo running through that last bit.
I searched for a hardcore walkthrough, so as to anticipate what lies ahead, and thanks to wolf, i havent died once since my first save in chapter 2.... the only reason i saved there was because i did the infinite power node/money glitch @ the end of Chap. 1. i only planned on using 2 saves for the whole. more thanks to wolf, i have learned some new things and techniques i hadnt known before, you rock! im currently on chap 7 where the tripods attack in the elevator and will save in chap 8. I keep dying in Chapter 6! That room whith 6 Leapers and 3 Pregnants is the worst part of the first stretch of the game, IMO. I did make it past there once. I got all the way to the Playhouse at the school. I died before I saved there, too. Walked into my own mine. lol I decided today to just doing my first save at the beginning of chapter 6. I was shooting for 7, but... lol
they should have recalled this difficulty impossible because it freaking pissing me off and the difficulty for dead space 1 hardcore because of the crappy ammo and health
you know I found a glitch on chapter 5 before your grabbed by the tripod in the church and bunch of babyfuckers start creeping around... just before you hit that part you have to fight the two lurkers and the Necro.... after killing them the first time you exit the doors passed the corridor but not where you get to the sequence... you turn around and then the two lurkers spawns again giving you 200-800 credits,1 line rack, 3 plamsa cutter ammo, a javlin spear, pulse ammo, or a health pack

I was following this guide up to the point where you have to wait for the coffin to come through the hole then stasis it en go through... i pressed the wrong button (tk) en got killed there... how stupid... of all things... killed by a hatch...

hey i got a question i just finish playing dead space 2 on zealot difficulty 1st time and now i can do hardcore and new game+ so what if i beat the game again on casual settings in new game+ will i get hardcore unlock for new game+
@CMan1126 do you mean new game+ on hardcore, cause even after you beat it, you cant do a new game+ on hardcore. you can just use the stuff you had from your hardcore playthorugh on a lower difficulty.
Thanks again for walkthrough video, I managed to survived ch.5-8. I followed every step you took.. almost exactly.. except that I did not use my 2nd save on ch8, got hp upgrades, security suit, and still kept excess of items into storage. 5 hours of playtime and still going at this time. 4 deaths.... so far.
I tried using ur strategy on the elevator lift, but didn't get much detonater ammo before hand, so I had to bring my seeker and cutter, but I did start with the detonator. I had a nice Fail/win moment where I tried to shoot a tripid and somehow managed to get it deployed on the frame of the window. But once it deployed, the tripod tried to attack and set it off, and blew its arm off.
I just have one question. Why in God's name did you not upgrade to the security suit. Is it really a waste of 20k for you to have the 5 extra item slots+5% armour upgrade? Not that you would ever need it I guess though... Also I've gotten pretty good at this game and its amazing to see someone breeze through it even easier then myself. Although I don't use the walkthrough vids to scout ahead. I just play through and figure out what to do the next time if I die...
48:20 , after spending about 3 hours getting from last save to this point, i miss the switch to close the door and i get sucked out and die, fuck hardcore...
after attempting 1:04:26 approximately 30-some-odd times on veteran with hardly any ammo and stasis (by playing the game the way you'd think you're supposed to--that is to say by eliminating nearby aggressors) I find out that to easily bypass this insane challange, you can just exploit it by running around like a frightened schoolgirl ... WTF is wrong with the lazy fools who made this game?! On the other hand, I do like this video better because all the voice acting is fast-forwarded.
@descendant7 I beat it on zealot consistently but I waste 2 much ammo and I get hit by leapers. You can't afford that kind of chance on Hardcore. This avoidance tactic is a godsent ^_^
@fishesgetstitches465 he hadnt upgraded it and didnt have any ammo except for the 3 shots in it already, so when he shot the 3 of them and picked them up they went into his inventory...because he didnt reload them into the gun. Then he upgraded the capacity, giving him a whole free clip. He shot those out and picked them up so they went into his inventory aswell. Then he upgraded it to the second capacity and got another free clip. He didnt do it again because not enough nodes.
at 35:37 i went back cause i had had like 10 extra health packs and when i was coming back a random pack came and attacked me. altough im not sure if this is mandatory because i noticed one of the first three pack you encounter glitched out

There are items in the vents at 0:36:00 I tried punching the vents, but it keep on falling. I once got one item, from the left vent. Unfortunately the one on the right fell on the bottom. tried TK it, but I couldn't reach it :(
At around 45:00 the reason why the lurker didn't get sucked out is because you hit it with stasis right before the room decompressed. It was frozen in air and couldn't move towards the breach fast enough xD

I didn't heal during the 1st chapter, except for the part after the crazy guy cuts you out of the straightjacket (which is mandatory; the game won't let you proceed until you use it).
pretty good walkthrough, consistantly fast(although grabbing the ligaments gets tiresome quick) overall like a 8, you point out your fallacys and give good advice to players

This game is awesome....... but I just got to chapter 8 and forgot to save cuz I wanted to save where this guy saved and ended up dieing fudge......... and that's not all there's a check point if u die in chapter 7 u can die millions of times so take ur time.so once I died I restarted from check point and was about to get to chapter 8 and the gme glitched on like.I was out of the map and just walking on air cool thing is I saw saturn -_____-back to chapter 5 .
ohh my god i did not not know that at about an hour in you dont have to kill anything :( if i knew that i would not have been raped by pukers and slashers and then rage quit and resume from chapter 5
@Wolfwood824 Great vids! one suggestion, In chapter 7, when you come to the decompression window sequence, prior in going between the two lasers, you can remove the explosives from the window so they dont break it, you can then break it when all enemies are close, and when you seal it, you can use the barrels to kill the first two enemies from the three they come when you hack in the room on the left

Wow, I am so impressed, wolf. I'm a fan of precision instruments like the seeker rifle, and how it can 1-shot normal mobs and 2-shot gold mobs, but you're using one ripper blade, or one line gun alt fire to take out 2-3 mobs at once, and I gotta tell you man, when you packed away the Plasma Cutter and went solo with the line gun, my heart skipped a beat.
I was like, "Are you ******* ME???" And you had just packed away all your ammo too, so I was mystified how you would pull it off.

I just wanted to ask, I'm playing hardcore right now, and I didn't save the game in the place you did, is it a good idea to save first time a little futher than you? I've completed the game like 4 times and totally became a pro like you now, plus I have all the DLC packs, so if it's not a good idea please respond, and if you can, give me an advice where to save first time, because the drill ride is not that hard with a contact beam alt.
Best save spots: after the solar array puzzle in ch. 7; after the mine cart ascension in ch. 11; and the save preceding the eye poker machine in ch. 13. i started out saving in chapter three, but when i reached chapter five, died, then reached ch 6., i realized ch. 3 is WAY too early to use a first save.
what the fuck, that tripod fucker keeps killing me in the quick time event. what is that aiming option you alter in the settings menu? Man, i keep watching these videos, and it's like, did this dude MAKE the game (he knows every single aspect of it). OUTSTANDING WORK

why the fuck are people saying class 5 ammo and class 4 ammo if you want to talk about ammunition locations then just say the name of the ammo (e.g. oh look pulse rifle ammo )
Object "classes" do not refer to ammo, they're just terms more advanced players use to refer to the various objects you can throw with Kinesis (i.e. Class 4's refer to explosives and Stasis canisters, Class 5's refer to objects that impale).

7:00 Classic chokepoint antics. Ripper makes it look good. I'll opt instead for killing all but one and going up by the exit door for the finishing blow.
14:42 As stated, I'd hide away after killing the first Pregnant. Maybe try to cripple two Leapers so they don't follow or apply stasis. They can indeed be a pest if they give chase properly and you can't exploit a checkpoint in Hard Core.
22:10 Starting battle in the open (plenty to block their path, but not an AI boundary)? Ripper is going to make this look good.
23:55 That's a wrap. Pity they don't have these strange crates or destructible walls elsewhere. Unlimited (practically) strong class 2's would be ideal for my run. That and class 4 dispensers...and various 'poles' to break for class 5s....yeah.
25:20 Stasis/Slaps, Stasis/Stomps, RIPPAH, run away, etc. It all works nicely for this Leaper.
Just running away works out fine, but easy kills for drops and all that sort of thing.
NOTE: The Cysts of this area don't seem to matter much as far as posing a threat goes

NOTE: You can just rush close enough to trip their suicide and rapid back-pedal to get outside range. It's pretty easy. A bit risky for what you're doing.

I tried using ur strategy on the elevator lift, but didn't get much detonater ammo before hand, so I had to bring my seeker and cutter, but I did start with the detonator. I had a nice Fail/win moment where I tried to shoot a tripid and somehow managed to get it deployed on the frame of the window. But once it deployed, the tripod tried to attack and set it off, and blew its arm off.

I just have one question. Why in God's name did you not upgrade to the security suit. Is it really a waste of 20k for you to have the 5 extra item slots+5% armour upgrade? Not that you would ever need it I guess though... Also I've gotten pretty good at this game and its amazing to see someone breeze through it even easier then myself. Although I don't use the walkthrough vids to scout ahead. I just play through and figure out what to do the next time if I die...

There's no Save Point after you go out into the space array, better save at point 1:01:00 after the hack.

after attempting 1:04:26 approximately 30-some-odd times on veteran with hardly any ammo and stasis (by playing the game the way you'd think you're supposed to--that is to say by eliminating nearby aggressors) I find out that to easily bypass this insane challange, you can just exploit it by running around like a frightened schoolgirl ... WTF is wrong with the lazy fools who made this game?! On the other hand, I do like this video better because all the voice acting is fast-forwarded.

@descendant7 I beat it on zealot consistently but I waste 2 much ammo and I get hit by leapers. You can't afford that kind of chance on Hardcore. This avoidance tactic is a godsent ^_^

@fishesgetstitches465 he hadnt upgraded it and didnt have any ammo except for the 3 shots in it already, so when he shot the 3 of them and picked them up they went into his inventory...because he didnt reload them into the gun. Then he upgraded the capacity, giving him a whole free clip. He shot those out and picked them up so they went into his inventory aswell. Then he upgraded it to the second capacity and got another free clip. He didnt do it again because not enough nodes.

at 35:37 i went back cause i had had like 10 extra health packs and when i was coming back a random pack came and attacked me. altough im not sure if this is mandatory because i noticed one of the first three pack you encounter glitched out

Fuuuu.....I died in the "baby" room. Stasis-ed 5 of them, shot line gun secondary across the room, the game glitched and the "bomb" rolled down the floor towards me with 8 "babies"!!! Silent rage is silent..shh

There are items in the vents at 0:36:00 I tried punching the vents, but it keep on falling. I once got one item, from the left vent. Unfortunately the one on the right fell on the bottom. tried TK it, but I couldn't reach it :(

At around 45:00 the reason why the lurker didn't get sucked out is because you hit it with stasis right before the room decompressed. It was frozen in air and couldn't move towards the breach fast enough xD

This game is awesome....... but I just got to chapter 8 and forgot to save cuz I wanted to save where this guy saved and ended up dieing fudge......... and that's not all there's a check point if u die in chapter 7 u can die millions of times so take ur time.so once I died I restarted from check point and was about to get to chapter 8 and the gme glitched on like.I was out of the map and just walking on air cool thing is I saw saturn -_____-back to chapter 5 .

@Wolfwood824 Great vids! one suggestion, In chapter 7, when you come to the decompression window sequence, prior in going between the two lasers, you can remove the explosives from the window so they dont break it, you can then break it when all enemies are close, and when you seal it, you can use the barrels to kill the first two enemies from the three they come when you hack in the room on the left

Wow, I am so impressed, wolf. I'm a fan of precision instruments like the seeker rifle, and how it can 1-shot normal mobs and 2-shot gold mobs, but you're using one ripper blade, or one line gun alt fire to take out 2-3 mobs at once, and I gotta tell you man, when you packed away the Plasma Cutter and went solo with the line gun, my heart skipped a beat.
I was like, "Are you ******* ME???" And you had just packed away all your ammo too, so I was mystified how you would pull it off.

I just wanted to ask, I'm playing hardcore right now, and I didn't save the game in the place you did, is it a good idea to save first time a little futher than you? I've completed the game like 4 times and totally became a pro like you now, plus I have all the DLC packs, so if it's not a good idea please respond, and if you can, give me an advice where to save first time, because the drill ride is not that hard with a contact beam alt.

Best save spots: after the solar array puzzle in ch. 7; after the mine cart ascension in ch. 11; and the save preceding the eye poker machine in ch. 13. i started out saving in chapter three, but when i reached chapter five, died, then reached ch 6., i realized ch. 3 is WAY too early to use a first save.

Object "classes" do not refer to ammo, they're just terms more advanced players use to refer to the various objects you can throw with Kinesis (i.e. Class 4's refer to explosives and Stasis canisters, Class 5's refer to objects that impale).

NOTE: The Cysts of this area don't seem to matter much as far as posing a threat goes

NOTE: You can just rush close enough to trip their suicide and rapid back-pedal to get outside range. It's pretty easy. A bit risky for what you're doing.

33:30 Indeed it is good to have the bodies taken care of. I tend to want objects placed ahead of time. As I intend to use the noted (chair) corner with the ladder as my shield until I can leave without much fighting.
It makes more sense (in your case) to kill all the Pack you can (plenty of profitable drops with minimal difficulty).

NOTE: The vents on the left/right of the door have Plasma Cutter ammo in them. They are the only case like this I've ever seen.
