Mr. Hannan, you can certainly deliver your opposition and criticism at numerous meetings of Council's working parties. Working parties (attended by national experts as well) is where discussions take place and where changes to policies are carried out. If you have the necessary proficiency (e.g. at agriculture or fisheries), pls take part in it just like the other experts do. Expert working parties is where you can initiate amendments of any kind.

@TheDougass I like Ron Paul in many ways, and I campaigned for his son. I don't totally agree with his foreign policy views. First of all, denmark has an healthy and very strong economy, unlike the american economy, yes america is almost and soon to be 10 trillion dollars in debt.
Second denmark has always or scandinavia for that matter been the leading nations in term of individual freedom and liberty, but americans arent taught much about anything else, either than their our "gods nation", they hardly know what is going on outside their border.

-Wiretaps are now allowed for any suspected violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, offering possibilities for Government spying on any computer user.
-Foreign and domestic intelligence agencies can more easily spy on Americans. Powers under the existing Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) have been broadened to allow for increased surveillance opportunities.
-PATRIOT eliminates Government accountability. While PATRIOT freely eliminates privacy rights for individual Americans, it creates more secrecy for Government activities, making it extremely difficult to know about actions the Government is taking.
-PATRIOT authorizes the use of "sneak and peek" search warrants in connection with any federal crime, including misdemeanors. A "sneak and peek" warrant authorizes law enforcement officers to enter private premises without the occupant's permission or knowledge and without informing the occupant that such a search was conducted.
-The Department of Justice, with little input from Congress and the American people, is developing follow-on legislation - the Domestic Security Enhancement Act (nicknamed Patriot II) -- which would greatly expand PATRIOT's already sweeping powers.
-Free speech zones (also known as First Amendment Zones, Free speech cages, and Protest zones) are areas set aside in public places for political activists to exercise their right of free speech in the United States. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law... abridging... the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
-The existence of free speech zones is based on U.S. court decisions stipulating that the government may regulate the time, place, and manner—but not content—of expression.
Free speech zones have been used at a variety of political gatherings.
-Authorities use them in a heavy-handed manner to censor protesters by putting them literally out of sight of the mass media, hence the public, as well as visiting dignitaries.
-Though authorities generally deny specifically targeting protesters, on a number of occasions, these denials have been contradicted by subsequent court testimony. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed, with various degrees of success and failure, a number of lawsuits on the issue.

-Cybersecurity Act of 2009 : There's a new bill working its way through Congress that is cause for some alarm.
-introduced by Senators Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME). The bill as it exists now risks giving the federal government unprecedented power over the Internet without necessarily improving security in the ways that matter most.
-Furthermore, the bill contains a particularly dangerous provision that could cripple privacy and security in one fell swoop:
The Secretary of Commerce— shall have access to all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure) networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access.
-In other words, the bill would give the Commerce Department absolute, non-emergency access to all relevant data without any privacy safeguards like standards or judicial review.
-In the united states, either under the ordinary law or states of emergency, the authorities put people in prison without a trial. In some cases imprisonment can last up to 3 years. A fair and public hearing within a reasonable time is a basic human right as is the right to freedom from arbitrary arrest and detention. To imprison people for a long period without proving a case against them is a violation of these rights.

-HR 875, was introduced by Rosa DeLauro whose husband Stanley Greenburg works for Monsanto. The bill is monstrous on level after level - the power it would give to Monsanto, the criminalization of seed banking, the prison terms and confiscatory fines for farmers, the 24 hours GPS tracking of their animals, the easements on their property to allow for warrantless government entry, the stripping away of their property rights
-Article I, Section 8, Clause 5, of the United States Constitution provides that Congress shall have the power to coin money and regulate the value thereof and of any foreign coins. But that is not the case. The United States government has no power to issue money, control the flow of money, or to even distribute it - that belongs to a private corporation registered in the State of Delaware - the Federal Reserve Bank.
On October 17, 2006, there were two acts of committed. The first was a public signing of the 'Military Commissions Act of 2006' which suspended habeas corpus allowing the president to declare you an 'enemy combatant' and end your rights to seek legal or judicial relief from unlawful imprisonment.
The second act of took place in a private Oval Office ceremony, in which the president signed into law the 'John Warner National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2007' which essentially eliminates the protections of the Posse Comitatus Act and re-wrote the Insurrection Act. The NDAA will allow the president to declare a 'public emergency' and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to 'suppress public disorder'! =
-The REAL ID Act of 2005 is U.S. federal law that imposes certain security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for the state driver's licenses and state ID cards, for them to be accepted by the federal government for "official purposes", as defined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
-Currently, the Secretary of Homeland Security has defined "official purposes" as presenting state driver's licenses and identification cards for boarding commercially operated airline flights and entering federal buildings and nuclear power plants.
-The new ID cart also contains an RFID chip which can be tracked.
2 points: People with state run media tend to believe all that junk because they have limited sources, so stuff tends to be fabricated to fill the void. In USA I have access to thousands of newspapers and magazines, hundreds of radio stations, hundreds of TV stations, and total access to internet, so ALL viewpoints are represented and published. How does your country compare to that? To compensate for your envy and insignificance, you are a mouse that is trying to roar, but just squeaks.
I hope you can buy an automatic weapon without a licence, drink a beer on the street, drive without insurance, not pay income tax (because there isnt law), ignore police orders and smoke cannabis in the comfort of your own home because medicine has proven it isnt dangerous.
[Breath]
Then you go and plant an orange tree on government land, cross over to Mexico without being harassed without charge and take a video camera into a court
After you've done that ask yourself; who was the victim?
sounds like the nightmare you had last nite - keeps me laughing, but I'm going on vacation for few weeks, so that will be more fun. good luck. no more time for nonsense.
The only freedoms your country has that mine doesn't is freedom from religion which causes amorality, and freedom from low taxes so people depend too much on the goverment. That is not the American way. Are you a robot, or does a brain tumor cause you to say these things? I was in the million people that held tea parties, and will be many more on July 4th. I communicate regularly with my local, state, and federal representatives, and they listen. BO will be stopped!
I cant debate an angry kid screaming and yelling all kinds of stuff constantly..(Are you a robot, or does a brain tumor cause you to say these things)
So lets end it here, thats what you wished for all the time anyways, so good luck in the future and take care of yourself and your beloved ones around you.
My anger simply came from the frustration of seeing people like you presume to know all about my country from the one-sided socialist leftist viewpoint that takes things out of context, exaggerates, and spreads outright lies. You will NEVER know the truth until you live in USA and see for yourself. An old saying: walk a mile in someone's shoes before you judge them.
I agree that we're both conservatives, but all your diatribes about freedom are biased, because I am as free now as the day I was born. And easy to be an atheist if you've never learned anything else. If you read the Bible, it all makes sense. NOTHING else explains the universe, but if it was proven, there would be no need for faith.
In any case I believe the book of Revelation in the Bible re things getting MUCH worse before Jesus returns. So if people are ready for that everything will be fine in the END. Best to you too.
So I guess Hannan believes that conspiracy crap also. Fox News investigates ALL, except ridiculous stuff. People believe that junk because their only other choice is BBC. I do know that bo is doing an alinsky thing - most Republicans realize that. I'm glad that you're an elephant instead of a donkey. Ever visit or live in USA?
Just to clarify - I understand that bilderberg may involve conspiracy (dems were there), but not 9/11. (I saw goofy film at your profile). I was gullible when I was your age too. You'd have to live here to see real freedom of press, despite media that slobbers on bo. We're not in same boat because noone is sitting on our face like eu sits on britain.
Just giving you my viewpoint. When you have more education and life experience, I predict you will know what I'm talking about. Bye - going to work at job I love to be a productive citizen. I don't live in a welfare nanny state with high taxes and lazy bums.
Good, i disagree with people who rely on society to support them. Ya know what you should do? You should stop using federal reserve bank notes, and you should stop paying taxes and using the police and the army to protect you.
Everyone has different experience and education. Just because you have no idea about conspiracies and believe the TV when it gives you the gist long after its happened.
I'm just searching for the truth which is better than blindly following the news companies.
I wasnt aware you were an expert on the subject; Why did both the twin towers and building 7 collapse on their footprint at freefall speed? Surly all would collapse differently? Why was molten metal found and photographed when airplane fuel cannot melt steel. Why did NORAD stand down for an exercise that happened to be identical to plains hitting the towers and this exercise was run by Dick Chaney even though this is the first time in history such an exercise had not been run by the generals.
Believe what you want, but building engineers explained the fire effects. And I'm sure you realize that Jihad is much more active in your country than mine.
Which is what makes me doubt the whole Jihad thing.
Sorry but there are many experts from around the world who disagree with the 911 explanation. Added to that there's all of the things that the terrorists couldnt be in control of; like Americas jet fighters, or George Bush's heavy censorship of the final documents which most experts; political and engineering agree is a whitewash and doesnt answer anything, and Bush resisted even making it anyway and was forced to when someone threatened to
I like it. What is unclear however, is whether or not Daniel is just in favour of just reforming the EU, or getting the UK out of it. Daniel seems to keep skirting around this issue, so it's about time we had an honest answer...??
Not sure where you've been looking but Hannan has made it clear on many occasions he wants Britain out of the EU. It's also in writing in his book the plan.
I can see it now, but it wasn't that obvious, Bear in mind, most folks are used to Tories saying one thing and meaning another with regard to the EU. Lots of bluster to get votes, but NO action to get us out of the EU when in power. DH for PM I say.
Dan Hannan for PM! Then we just need a good president here in America, and the worlds problems are well in hand!...lol Oh, yeah, and death to the commies...lol
I agree, but if you cannot get Daniel in as PM, we will take him for President Hannan in 2012, if we can have a Kenyan as president now, we can have a British gentleman as President in 2012.
Me too. But he has too much respect for the ideas of the US Constitution to violate the restriction on non-natives becoming president. Ironically, that makes him even more perfect for the job.
Yes I know all about that controversy - I've done the research. But to prove it, you would have to say everyone in the Hawaiian government was covering up. Personally I can't stand the guy - think he is unpatriotic ala Alinsky.
I have to say I really like "dan the man" and agree with alot of his principles BUT I will not vote for LibLabCon-thay are all the same. Just my humble opinion :)
I'm in favour of free trade and free travel between all countries (a union of sorts) but why on earth would you be hugely in favour of a centralised power? history shows that as power becomes more centralised and more remote from the electorate it becomes more corrupt and more innefficient. The best government is a goverment that is responsive the the individual. You think a few unelected people should be able to oversee regulations that effect hundreds of millions of people across europe?
I would like to see Mr. Hannan on Alex Jones or Jason Bermas's show. That would make a most beneficial discussion of liberty across both sides of the pond.
Alex Jones is just a money maker he is not a serious politican nor well read. Unlike Mr Jones he does not believe in crackpot conspiracy theories about 9/11 being orchestrated by the CIA
Anyone who claims to live by the principle of democracy will inevitably be shown to be a hypocrite. The reason, ... we are all minorities, we are individuals.
This guy reveals his brilliance every time he opens his mouth!! People compare him to our Ron Paul....Paul cannot hold a candle to this guy. He speaks so damn clearly and with such fire its captivating.
Speaking truth to power when done eloquently is powerful. And importantly in politics ideas are not only powerful they are both bullet proof and viral.
I hope he's right and that the chamber really will have a credible opposition after these elections. My polling office opens at 7am on June 4. I intend to be one of the first to vote there. I also hope many of my fellow (euro) citizens take the time to express their views as well. Thanks, for your speech Mr. Hannan. Very courteous and to the point. Other MEPs should follow your example. BTW, did you notice the woman behind you taking off her headphones?
I believe he is. However, the guy who he was speaking to was not. Here in Britain, and I assume across Europe, we're having European elections on 4th June. What a fun day that'll be - most people here don't even know who runs the EU. Heck, even I don't know! It's the most undemocratic, unaccountable and controlling.. thing.. in Europe. There should be a news channel dedicated to exposing it's operations.
Caution your home secretary may ban you, You know how much spine you Brits have when it comes to people like Geerte Wilders: Hey, how is the legislation going to put cameras in the potties so you can make sure your British males dont get the notion they can breech protocol and stand to pee !
LOL, When you become a Eunuch they do not grow back, it is much like what France experienced in their period of castration: This is why Danny Boy supported Obama and why the EUro-Trash love a weak stupid idealist American President: And you will get the same results as with your other love affairs like Jimmy Carter and South Africa and Zimbabwe!
Danniel only supported Obama cause he thought it would be better for Americas foriegn appeal and policies(to an extent)But Danniel was more of a Ron Paul man :)
Actually.. he does, he mentioned them in an interview with an author. Second, chasing terrorist-nations who attacked us, such as Morocco and the other Barbary States, is constitutional, however attacking nations who did nothing to us and occupying them (Afghanistan and Iraq) is not without a declaration of war.
Maybe you should research America's founders and read the Constitution more accurately. Ron Paul is a very good constitutionalist, I'm sorry you are not..
LMAO What do you call breaking a treaty from the first Gulf War ? Remember the no fly zones ? Really tell me When does Ron Paul want to call the US Const good? Pre Civil War ? Seems to me Ron Paul's tin foil hat seems to want to beam up "States Rights" quite often ? Tell me: Do you think Jefferson and Washington knew more about the US Const than Ron Paul ?
Oh.. okay.. America might be the last country to ever complain about someone breaking a treaty. Especially when it comes to our government's compact with the State's.
However, no-fly zones? That's worth dismantling a government and killing Americans over a country that WAS NOT a threat? Listen to Daniel, we need not have despotism, but that's very well what we have here in America.
Iraq is illegal, and if you can't see that, I'm sorry.
LMAO: WOW you mean like all the Butchering and looking Saddam did in Kuwait ? How many of his own people did he butcher torture and gas ? OH did you know about the 550 metric tonnes of Yellow cake and a Nuke primer or was that potting soil for Saddam's garden ?
what is this word at 2:27"there will be many more of us : "sukraniste"????

Not those who lie and cheat to get into power, then serve themselves and forget what they are SUPPOSED to be doing there. We're lucky to have him.

Jay Rockefeller *cough*
phrek75 2 years ago
-Furthermore, the bill contains a particularly dangerous provision that could cripple privacy and security in one fell swoop:
The Secretary of Commerce— shall have access to all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure) networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access.
phrek75 2 years ago
-In other words, the bill would give the Commerce Department absolute, non-emergency access to all relevant data without any privacy safeguards like standards or judicial review.

-Imprisonment without trial

-The federal reserve
-Article I, Section 8, Clause 5, of the United States Constitution provides that Congress shall have the power to coin money and regulate the value thereof and of any foreign coins. But that is not the case. The United States government has no power to issue money, control the flow of money, or to even distribute it - that belongs to a private corporation registered in the State of Delaware - the Federal Reserve Bank.

On October 17, 2006, there were two acts of committed. The first was a public signing of the 'Military Commissions Act of 2006' which suspended habeas corpus allowing the president to declare you an 'enemy combatant' and end your rights to seek legal or judicial relief from unlawful imprisonment.
phrek75 2 years ago
The second act of took place in a private Oval Office ceremony, in which the president signed into law the 'John Warner National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2007' which essentially eliminates the protections of the Posse Comitatus Act and re-wrote the Insurrection Act. The NDAA will allow the president to declare a 'public emergency' and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to 'suppress public disorder'! =

-The REAL ID Act of 2005 is U.S. federal law that imposes certain security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for the state driver's licenses and state ID cards, for them to be accepted by the federal government for "official purposes", as defined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
phrek75 2 years ago

3martijns 2 years ago
We define our freedom n liberties by our laws, it is the only thing im guilty of in this conversation with you.
Conserning religion, i dont believe in our current view of the divine. You could call me an ateist if you like.
But i think something is out there and its far greater than us, we just dont know what it is.
Could we soon agree on something?(trying to lighten up our conversation) *smile* ;)
phrek75 2 years ago
I agree that we're both conservatives, but all your diatribes about freedom are biased, because I am as free now as the day I was born. And easy to be an atheist if you've never learned anything else. If you read the Bible, it all makes sense. NOTHING else explains the universe, but if it was proven, there would be no need for faith.

In any case I believe the book of Revelation in the Bible re things getting MUCH worse before Jesus returns. So if people are ready for that everything will be fine in the END. Best to you too.

Freedom of press? Yea RIGHT! Have you ever heard of the Builderberg conference? No? Wonder why?
We're all pretty much in the same boat.
Elephantintheroom01 2 years ago
So I guess Hannan believes that conspiracy crap also. Fox News investigates ALL, except ridiculous stuff. People believe that junk because their only other choice is BBC. I do know that bo is doing an alinsky thing - most Republicans realize that. I'm glad that you're an elephant instead of a donkey. Ever visit or live in USA?
3martijns 2 years ago
Just to clarify - I understand that bilderberg may involve conspiracy (dems were there), but not 9/11. (I saw goofy film at your profile). I was gullible when I was your age too. You'd have to live here to see real freedom of press, despite media that slobbers on bo. We're not in same boat because noone is sitting on our face like eu sits on britain.

3martijns 2 years ago
Good, i disagree with people who rely on society to support them. Ya know what you should do? You should stop using federal reserve bank notes, and you should stop paying taxes and using the police and the army to protect you.
Everyone has different experience and education. Just because you have no idea about conspiracies and believe the TV when it gives you the gist long after its happened.
I'm just searching for the truth which is better than blindly following the news companies.
Elephantintheroom01 2 years ago
I wasnt aware you were an expert on the subject; Why did both the twin towers and building 7 collapse on their footprint at freefall speed? Surly all would collapse differently? Why was molten metal found and photographed when airplane fuel cannot melt steel. Why did NORAD stand down for an exercise that happened to be identical to plains hitting the towers and this exercise was run by Dick Chaney even though this is the first time in history such an exercise had not been run by the generals.

Believe what you want, but building engineers explained the fire effects. And I'm sure you realize that Jihad is much more active in your country than mine.
3martijns 2 years ago
Which is what makes me doubt the whole Jihad thing.
Sorry but there are many experts from around the world who disagree with the 911 explanation. Added to that there's all of the things that the terrorists couldnt be in control of; like Americas jet fighters, or George Bush's heavy censorship of the final documents which most experts; political and engineering agree is a whitewash and doesnt answer anything, and Bush resisted even making it anyway and was forced to when someone threatened to

Actually.. he does, he mentioned them in an interview with an author.

Oh..
