I totally second that. One is not a nerd just because he or she holds an engineer's degree or wears thickly black-rimmed glasses and stuff. Being a nerd is a way of life of its own, real nerds are socially inept, whereas these girls seemingly aren't. Also, real nerd girls don't wear high heels and the like... Actually, none of the few REAL nerd girls I know wears those nerdy glasses; they wear contact lenses instead as they are quite concerned about themselves looking too nerdy...

While I'm inclined to agree with you that there are faux-nerds and real ones, I don't think it's logical to compartmentalize it as you have. I, for example, would consider myself to be a nerdy girl, but I thoroughly enjoy a pair of high heels on occasion. Being only slightly socially inept doesn't stop me from wanting to name my first born after Gordon Freeman, and my nerdy glasses don't prevent me from burying my nose in a different book every night.
