Well, if you're going to a university, then there are usually exchange programs that you can apply to. I'm actually going to a Uni in Incheon, Korea in the fall. Most Unis offer languages courses in Korean and then you can take your other courses in English.
And don't worry too much about cultural differences. That's what you're there for! To experience a different culture. If you want to come prepared though, just look it up on the net or get a book on Travelling to Korea.
Please don't stereotype South Koreans as being tall or short. Generally there are tall adults and short adults. Actually, the general population is pretty variant, and lots of them are tall. However, Japanese, you can stereotype because they really ARE short people. I'm not kidding. There's very few tall people in Japan for real.

I'm always afraid of the differences since if I did go, I would be very different culture wise.
And are S Koreans generally tall? Around 5'10?
